Doll/Image: Az/DD Tudors maker (flashpoint) |
Name: Ryzo Gender: Male, he/him, straight Age/DOB: 17, born ky -13 Origin: Caledrus Hold Family: Mother Aaryea, father Tzeado; Younger Sister Azaeda Other: is fairly sure that he'd enjoy meeting more young women with a dragon to show off, but he won't hesitate to introduce himself in a group even without one Height: 6' Build: strong and healthy Hair: coppery dark brown, kept short, quite thick Eyes: medium blue Appearance: tanned skin, enjoys brown and tan color schemes; has a deep and slightly gruff voice Standing At: Ryslen Courts Dragon: Ziassioth Created/Updated: 10.5.23 |
Genetic Abilities: As a Pernese descendant, he is highly likely to have strong empathic senses and can withstand the rigors of going between more easily than most. He is potentially a search rider in the making, geared toward pairing the right person with the proper place or dragon duties, all but seeing lines drawn between them.
Physical Traits: muscular and hardy, with the energy to keep up the work needed in a weyr
Personality: self-assured without being arrogant, has taken Aaryea's attitude and put some muscle behind it
Skills and Profession: Born of a gold and bronze rider pair and as such expected to keep up the roles of a leader and exerienced dragon rider. Even if he's never stood on the sands as a candidate, he has attended hatchings and been quite attentive to the details - what eggs develop strong and hardy dragons, which ones have smaller lithe ones, and who each of those bond. He seems to be a very quick learner and has gotten through advanced courses on reading star charts, simulated combat with virtually every rank of dragon he might ride - from short term fighters and replacement work, emergency rescues, flank wings, main fighters, and even leadership roles. He is sure of himself with most of those roles but he definitely prefers the scouting, observation, and patrol aspects most. He can figure out who needs help in a classroom setting, and enjoys tutoring younger kids. Has strong literacy skills but slightly wobbly handwriting.
Events and History: Aaryea and Tzeado might not have been a couple before their dragons teamed up all those years ago, but they did stay together afterwards. Their two children grew up in a stable, healthy environment. Ryzo was walking and climbing from a very early age, energetic and constantly looking for ways to play hide and seek even if his folks weren't playing with him... When his younger sister was born, this play escalated for him but was actually more of a relief for the folks: they only needed to find one of them, as the other would be by soon enough. Ryzo grew up with the dragons and their expectations, loving the way they moved and how they sounded when they called or 'sang'. Dragons are life, for him. They're strong and careful, so he learned from them where they will put their huge foot, how their tail sweeps if they need to turn, how their wings require space to spread and lift so they can take off. Perhaps he is the one who suggested that Caledrus needed a longer air field, since some of their riders, no longer confined to Alabaster's area and sent home to their 'hold' rather than a 'caer', had dragons that were very large or very bulky. He even drew up a plan for one, with a 'diving platform' suitable for weyrlings to learn to fly and not crash themselves into a marble pit (... who builds such things on hard stone?!) when they're unable to lift all the way off? He knew that he and his sister Azaeda had been Searched when they were quite young, but even if there were numerous hatchings along their youth and teenage years, neither of them were selected to properly stand at them. It wasn't that they weren't trying hard enough to be impressed, but Ryzo respects the dragons and their organization enough that if he wasn't searched for a clutch, only the dragons would be able to tell whether they needed him to come down from stands instead. He can feel the strength of emotions around any sands, even before the hatching, and knows that his sister is in the same situation. So when they were selected to come to Nidus Ryslen, they were both somewhat giddy about it. Maybe it would finally be their time. Maybe now, they could both show off their truest skills! ** He'd been fishing a bit, something that was a little less easy to do back home - but he enjoyed it, and maybe... if he was on a dragon who liked to fish too, they'd be able to go farther and bring back bigger and better catches. Well, perhaps not too big, Ryzo realized that there might be some very large fish in those wild Alskyran oceans. And what would he do if he was on that dragon's back? Dive into the whole ocean? He chuckled to himself, he'd rather stick to fishing on the dock or from a boat! His afternoon had been pretty successful at that, and he helped deliver a good catch to the kitchen staff before heading up to get clean and read a little. He spotted his sister oddly full of herself in as much as she could ever be called that, looking off into the middle distance as she very often did. "What'd I miss?" He asked, and though she didn't answer him he got the impression that she'd been involved in something with 'important' people? Huh. Well go figure. He was starting to smell a bit more like fisherman and less like a rider, and up in a weyr - a Nidus - he didn't want to get a reputation for being stinky... Not that he or anyone else in these classes and at the sands would have shied away from the stinky work of cleaning those dragon chambers, they all came out of those equally weird smelling. Cleaning fluid and dragon goop, well, great combination there. A good soak was in order, with his own journal to review. He'd been keeping track of the weather patterns, though they would clearly be different if and when he went home to Caledrus. He decided to draw up what he wondered the air currents were, and whether any given dragon might be able to fly down the Hold's crevasse... *** Having shaken off his dizziness and seen his green sister bond the nice fox girl, the Twilight Brown was on the move. He was solid and confident and was going to grow up to be the epitome of brown, and needed a rider who was confident and not oozing ego. The first person he walked up to was a tall woman with honey colored hair. He looked up at her, and she looked down at him. She wasn't the one. She tipped her head toward the tall man standing beside her, and the brown looked up at him instead. ** They had continued to strive for the best they could be, and truly, attained it while they were Tiro and Paro alike. The class dwindled as those Tiros and their new dragon bonds went home earlier, and finally it was down to a mere handful to graduate properly into their riding gear and ranks. Ryzo was quite proud of both himself and his dragon, as well as his sister and her queen. Who wouldn't be proud! The blood-tipped Court Brown he has bonded had grown into a strong and bold presence, made more visually stunning with the grown horns and tall crest, and needless to say the presence of that Blood Court marking... Perhaps a bit intimidating. That was fine, it meant that people would take him more seriously. Though what exactly they'd be doing when they went home to Caledrus... Would it require their leadership skills? Would they be needed as fighters against whatever odd threats were around? Or just - fishing? "It's not just fishing," Ryzo admitted, "I like it! Got quite a taste for it at Ryslen and I think we could have some fun on the shore." More distant shore than there, Ziassioth said, but I like flying, and you like fishing! Soon enough they realized their calling though - it would be to find those lost at sea, and occasionally, find those who would make good riders or Novos! |
