Dark Moon Weyr |

Tissanta (left) Among the Blackstone weyr's administrative staff are twin sisters Tissanta and Tethys. Both of them wearing their hair in the clever and rebellious "blackbottom" style. Tissanta's is blue, while her slightly younger and more aggressive sister Tethys wears a metallic green. Both sisters are Harper trained, but are thoroughly weyrbred in attitude. Stylish and dramatic, they prowl the weyr's corridors looking for young riders or experienced wing-leaders alike. They are openly obnoxious about their dislike of certain Lord Holders from Dawnlight, and whenever they can they give stinging conversations about their politics. Neither of them have any pets, and both are eager to become dragonriders if anything just to prove their worth in full to Blackstone Weyr. |
"Psst!" "Psssssst! Tiss!" Tissanta groaned and rolled over. The bare light of day had begun to sneak its way into the weyr, and she deeply resented it. "Psst! HEY!" Her sister Tethys roughly shoved Tissanta's shoulder and the pale-blue-haired young woman awoke with a growl. "WHAT do you want, Tethys? She looked at her sister, who was still in her work clothing. From the night before. "I found something out," Tethys said in a sing-song voice. "Last night!" "What, that you aren't physically able to sleep with the rest of us?" Tissanta groaned. "No. That Dark Moon Weyr is up again, I thought they had vanished like some others, but it turns out they were just cleaning it." She winked. "And they're accepting candidates." "Do they have good, solid dragons there?" Tissanta asked, finally beginning to come awake. "no, Tiss, they have strangely intangible, almost illusory dragons there. What kind of idiot question is that? Of course they have good dragons there! B'olo impressed there!" At that, the girl roused more completely. "Oooh, B'olo... yum." "Off limits... What a shame... What a waste!" Tethys said, as they both gazed into the between-space of imagination. Then, Tethys shook her head. "Anyway, you wanna sneak off and join their hatching?" "No." Tissanta said, standing and drawing the curtains off their shared weyr's single small window. "No I don't." With a gasp, Tethys jumped between the window and her sister. "What, by the first egg, is THAT supposed to mean? No? You don't want to impress?" "I did not say that, dearest sister. I meant merely that I do not plan on sneaking anywhere. So if we are to go to Dark Moon, we'll go together, and we'll go with our Weyrwoman and Leader's blessings. Right?!" After a good hearty laugh shared by the sisters, Tissanta began the task of selecting things to bring with her to the new Weyr. Then she was going to ask about Tethys' plans for the day, when a long, faint snoring could be heard. She stood over Tethys' low cot with a fresh glass of water from the common-room's drip, but then smiled and shook her head instead. "Nah... Not after bringing such good news." The hatching shouldn't have happened so soon. But, the brilliant bellow of the golden Zyranth let everyone know that some of them were indeed breaking shell! Tissanta and Tethys and the other few candidates rushed into the hatching sands. So it was true! A couple of the eggs were shuddering with mighty heaves from the inside! A green and blue unceremoniously dump themseleves onto the sands, and were promptly impressed, one of them by the boy from Dawnlight who'd come along with the twins. While a large egg started to crack and yet yeilded nothing, a pretty princess of a green came strutting out of her own egg, and right to Tethys! Inside her mind a voice cries out, you didn't watch me, did you! You didn't see how perfect that entrance was, did you! "Oh, Habenth, I watched you the whole time! I swear!" Tethys told the little green. They waited on the sands... Perhaps Tissanta would impress now? Tethys and Habenth watched as another egg hatched, and then that big bronze sized egg finally opened up, while striking a blue open as well! But then... He also disrupted a small sized egg which was clearly not meant to be one of those opening so early. The green inside was pale and small, hardly able to lift her head up to cry out. The little dragon fell to her side, once able to actually stand. Her golden mother nudged her upright again, but she could hardly walk. So immature was this hatchling, that even her loving mother couldn't help. But one in the sands could! The piercing cry that the dragon let off struck deeper into Tissanta's mind than anyone else's. I must ... rest! It hurts! Too hot and bright! Oh, why must I have this now! You were meant for me, but not yet! My friend! Where are you? I cannot see you! Tissanta rushed to the side of the pale green dragon and embraced her carefully. "I knew it, Sadikith! I knew you wanted me!" She cried, and then lifted the tiny hatchling up off the hot sands, so they could find a dragonhealer to tend to her if need be. | |
