** Pre-Story will be shared with Baata and Jet ** | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jet had started to leave with his hatchling when Aji Dalpeli gasped and ran forward. A little clouded red - whose coloration resembled a rich red wine - had tried to correct her path after a black hatching darted past and sent her balance out of limbo. The red’s nose was buried several inches in the sands. Aji quickly righted the red female. “Edrielleth! Are you alright? Oh...that was so mean!” and she cast a quick glare to where the black had already vanished amid candidates and hatchlings. “Seriously.” Edrielleth sneezed to get the sand out of her nose. I don’t think sand is supposed to go in my nose or mouth, the baby dragon said, her tongue also working to get sand out as much as possible. Aji giggled. “No...no it’s not...”
** From a tumbly bumbly hatchling, to a lanky but energetic weyrling, Edrilleth was among the more curious dragonets that the Protectorate could ask for. She had a knack for getting into locations that were quite improbable, until the one day she got stuck. She got stuck, and Aji felt every moment of it from just far enough to panic. "I told you, I told you not to go there, oh Edri why why did --" My wing hurts, Aji, it's pressed as far as it can go but I can't move any more, what can I do? I don't like it here any more. "I know, I don't either," Aji finally took some slow, calming breaths like the weyrhealer would tell her. The dragon's mind was still churning, still sending painful signals that said one of her wing fingers was definitely broken. "We'll get you out, and get your little wing fixed." And true to form, that dragon then blurted out I'm not little! "Well if you weren't little you wouldn't have gotten in there in the first place!" Aji exclaimed but it was a combination of laughter and relief when she realized what she could do. "You can go between and come to me. We practiced." I only did it once! Edrielleth bespoke. "But you can come to me, I'm the only thing that you need to know, the area is clear, the place is right by my side," she even patted her thigh, the way she would have when Edri was quite a bit smaller. "I know it hurts, but I can make that better as soon as you're here." It didn't take much convincing to get her to move, though it did come with a bowling-over appearance as well as with numerous clumps of dirt and rock that still clung to her under her wings and between her claws. The relief of being out from that nook was tremendous - but also the pain, when her wing unfolded it wasn't just the one finger, it was several of them. "You'll need so much treatment and I'll make sure you get every bit of it you need." Mentally however, Aji confided, I only wish that I'd been able to teleport when I was stuck as a kid, I know how scary that was, I know my love. ** "So when do you think we'll pick up that game again?" Aji asked her brother. He seemed surprised. "Wait - you mean you want to continue? Like, even though we've got dragons and all that -" "Why not?" Baata added from his other side, once she'd heard it. "Why not? Since mom and dad and auntie Beji won't let us have all that fun like they did back in their day-" they all heard an I heard that from the other room. "We can have adventures another way, right?" Adventure? Where do we go? Can I come? Can we go there? "Well I mean - maybe some of these places exist," Aji explained, "but they're mostly just made-up in our heads and words." There was a resounding disappointment coming from the dragon. But within moments, the three siblings as well as their dragons were neck deep in character generation again. This time they wanted to do something a bit different... something including their dragons. And something that might or might not involve a big heist on a world their dad and auntie had mapped out decades earlier...
