Tay Kshau |

Tay knew that he had an unusual heritage. He was blue after all, and the only blue people around were his relatives, the Kshaus. He lacked their arm-spikes, but he had everything else, including the tall stature befitting his father Shard. Shard was obviously proud of the lad from the start. Smart, nimble, attentive. Tay was accepted eagerly by Shard's wife Rue, though everyone could see that he wasn't of her bloodline. Shard wasn't talking about who his mother was, it would remain a mystery all Tay's days. But it didn't really matter. He knew that if he ever hooked up with another blue person, he'd be the one asking about bloodlines and whatnot. Just in case they happened to be related or something unsavory like that. Tay's true genius lay in his mind. He could fiddle with objects until he understood them entirely, and then put them back together so they worked even better than before he got to them. Not so good with people, he was a bit too focused on his work to notice body language or sarcasm. He did notice the dragons though. If there was one thing his family did right, it was dragons. Tay aimed to please his family by bonding a proper dragon, but he didn't make it to the sands in time for the first two clutches, and then only heard about another some days after it had hatched. It didn't daunt him, but it was a bit disappointing. He started widening his searches for good clutches, and because he was who he was, and because the Nexus enjoys that kind of thing, he discovered a certain spot tucked away in the multiverse which was in need of someone to take a dragon off their hands.

That dragon turned out to be Dyjare'Achat, completely unlike almost every other dragon that Tay had ever seen. But she was stunning, none the less! A rich verdigris color that shone in the sun, and with those gorgeous transparent crystal-colored wing sails she would never be mistaken for an Old World dragon! Plus, that chest armor and the horns... In a dark rich gold. Some might have said something stupid about him impressing a gold or a green - had he Impressed, which he hadn't. But Tay would have gladly said something to the order of 'better me on a green, than on the wrong dragon'! Dyjare did magic. Like Tay's uncle might have, had he admitted it. The things she could do with her natural magic were amazing, and they would keep Tay busy too. An endless supply of small metal cogs? Of course, she could provide them with her earth magic. A light to replace the one that kept flickering out when he worked on a windy night? Never went out until she willed it so. Tay would be able to cross boundaries that even his father didn't generally go to, with this dragon. Though he did tend to ride without a harness like Shard... |
