Powers and Breath Weapons

The dragons of the Glenn commonly refer to their powers as "magical" in nature. On Planet Twenty, however, that is no longer the case - though they all still have breath weapons and abilities suitable to be called that (you may refer to them as magic or psionic, whichever you like). Since most of the parents of the clutches here have resided with the Zekirans, and the Zekirans often meddle with genetic engineering, the powers available to each type and color of Colony Glenn dragon will be different than that of other hatcheries.

Zekiran powers are 'psionic' or mental in nature. Mind over matter. But on your page you can place whatever information you wish - if you require magic, it's just as good and doesn't matter to me unless the dragon is specificially living with a caretaker ON Planet Twenty. Once they leave Planet Twenty you can define their powers in whatever ways you wish - but keep in mind that every dragon hatching here has a certain level of ability. Some are born with lots of power, and some less. With practice (writing about it on their pages helps) other powers or more strong ones can be used!

Don't feel bound by these rules. The breath weapons of these dragons have shifted from hatchery to hatchery, and the lists are suggestions here, not permanent and enforced. If you invent a good one, I might want to snag it for the list!

You'll note that the WEAPONS are mostly negative type emotions or damage dealing - they're weapons after all. The POWERS section deals with the things that they can do that might not require attacking. Powers are based on Color, not Type. Dragons hatched here learn to use their Breath Weapon when they are an Adolescent, but the power will not be as strong as their Adult stage.

When a dragon hatches, I will inform you of their level of ability - they will always be able to, when mature, use their Type of breath weapon. They can also begin using the Powers I list. So if the dragon is a White Fire type, when they're an Adolescent they might start using their Light Breath. But they could also come with say, 2 Minor powers and 1 Special power - so you can choose from among those listed if you wish. If you don't wish, don't bother. Some powers may be similar to one another, and the Zekiran type powers are the same as one another but perhaps used at a different level of strength. Weaknesses may hinder the dragon's ability to use their powers, or even to live!

Breath Weapons work this way: the dragon can choose to attack an opponent or the surroundings. Their breath might cause actual damage (like Fire, Sparks, or Suffocation), or it might cause an effect to happen in the people or creatures in the area (such as making them Confused, run away in Fear, or inciting them to Angry states). Some few breath 'weapons' are not really for attack - like Sweet Breath will cause odors and stagnation to lift, and Sedation breath will help someone who is agitated to relax and sleep. Some are neutral, Darkness and Song for instance might cause some reaction, but are mostly designed to distract an enemy.

Though it says "breath" it could be a purely mental or physical power such as slapping their wings together, spitting, or mentally causing the effect.

Powers are not specific to Types. Instead they are geared toward the color of the dragon.

When hatched, your dragon will get a Power Rank. With it you'll see a list of Minor, Major and Special powers available. When the dragon is an Adolescent they will be able to start using their Powers. Choose from the lists here, or invent ones which are of similar strength.
