It was a windy Summer day, when Seka went outside from the Library and whistled for her dragon. She waited, casting her unicorn's gaze around the half-Kin and half-human inhabitants. They hadn't shown any signs of bolting which meant that Caelestith wasn't anywhere in sight. "What has gotten into that dragon?" Seka muttered to herself. The Library was busy this time of the day, and the university where it rested was in the full swing of its summer session. The fact that dragons and unicorns roamed free on a half-human campus was nothing. They had courses for magic, riding, and the lot - this was after all, right down the street from Carramba High School, where anyone was welcome. Probably, Cael was hanging out down there. Seka set a spell in place to keep her book bag from dragging too far behind her, and walked up the wide Beach Boulevard. Carramba had summer classes too, but this time of day the only people on campus were there to either clean up, or socialize. But sure enough - there she was. The smallish red cranberry colored dragoness from Ryslen's first Flurry. You could always ping me, Caelestith thought. Well I didn't, I asked you to wait for me. And the security guards kept giving me trouble! They don't have adequate parking for dragons yet. "But they have spaceship parking!" Seka said, as she got closer. The others around must have been aware that she and the dragon had a mental connection because they didn't immediately point and laugh. I came here because there is a rumor going around that a new place needs dragons for a frenzy. I would like to go. Being from a Flurry and all. Cael lifted her head and proudly fanned her wings. "You are ready for that, aren't you sweetie?" Seka said. She knew it was true, they'd been together for almost six years now, and most females got to their maturity at two or three, having nests a few years apart after that. They'd flown once, early last year, at the Dragonstake's Valentine flight too. "Who else is going to be there?" Seka asked, when Cael had settled back down. The other few people in the Speaker's Square were still a bit more attentive to her conversation than Seka liked, so she dampened the sounds with another short spell. I do not know yet. But there is someone who wants to help find others to come with us. Cael tossed her head toward a Kin who walked up to them from across the wide campus courtyard. "You must be Seka," the young male cheetah kin said. "I'm Hita, I go to school here." "Nice to meet you," Seka said, glaring at Cael who looked smugly on. You planned this for a while, didn't you? Do you know how boring it is waiting for you to get your library work done? Seka turned her attention back to the young kin. "So, what's up with this flight, do you know?" "Yes," he said, "It's at Enzan Shi, a beautiful new locale. But it's not a flight they'd normally host for the locals - it's a fall frenzy. Fall colors, you get the idea?" "Fall - well, Caelestith's a cranberry so I think that might qualify..." Seka laughed. "But who else?" "My tribe, Twelve and One, there are a couple... maybe a few dragons there that will want to come along. Mine is still too young and I just don't want to worry about that kind of thing yet." The curly haired kin looked almost bashful. "So is this going on right now?" Seka asked. "You said a 'fall' frenzy." "Well it's summer here," Hita said. "Not everywhere. You should know that..." You should, too, Cael said, and then got swatted at by Seka. "All right, well then let's find your tribe mates and head out. I can come back here with or without this beastie taking me." Seka said. Her powers as a mage were growing stronger, and her research here was helping out. Shortly, the pair swooped over the campus and got only the briefest passing oohs-and-aahs because by this time, the school was well used to having dragons in their airspace. The trip through the Nexus was short - oddly short - and when they came through into a brilliantly lit savannah Seka asked loudly, "how did we go so fast?" "I know my way around the Nexus," was Hita's response. He does, you know. He's quite adept at it. I like following them. Zalmaji is cute too. He's not in this flight, you heard him. Perhaps later on, then. Oooh look! They're waiting for us! It was true, there were three dragons and their riders resting on the tall wide plateau strip that the tribe had designated for their landing area. Zalmaji landed first, and Caelestith swooped down next to him. All cheetah kin, the riders stood their ground but still looked a bit nervous at the sight of a stranger. Boldly, though, one male stepped up. "Welcome to our lands," said the tallest, "I am Omaciyu, and this is Temih, and Irole. Hita has told us about this flight, I think we should go. Our dragons are all always protesting that we don't get out enough." Temih snorted a laugh, "we don't. We've been at home too much." "Tending cubs is no laughing matter," Irole said, and Temih grinned at him. "Are you going to want to get anything or are we going now?" Omaciyu said, and Seka shook her head. "Nope - I'm always ready. Mages like me don't have trouble getting through time and space. If I need something I'll go get it." That is twice you have dissed me, my rider. What am I to think? That you're a loudmouth! Now, let's go to this Enzan Shi place. "Let's go!" Irole cried, and lept to his beautiful spotted-striped red. Omaciyu's was a strong winged brown and bronze, while Temih's female bond was a lovely dappled brown and green. Since Seka wasn't all that well versed in "traditional" colors she didn't think anything of Temih's brown being female. The males certainly didn't mind! |
Cranberry Female Caelestith, hatched at Ryslen
Flurry 2001 She is smallish, but still bigger than a green by a long shot. She has a bit of experience, but she's just looking for a good mate this time around. |
Bronze Winged Brown Yseth, hatched at Tiyaza Yseth is an exceptional flier, very durable, and with tons of endurance. However he's quite large, and smaller females will not be able to tolerate his advances. |
Tawny-orange flame-stripe-sparred tawny-orange mottled leopard dark
red Felinruad, hatched at Moire Felinruad has a plan of action - he wants to produce offspring that look like him. If given the choice, he will try to pair up with a similar spotted or striped female. Yes, that includes Kelssyroth, if she's up for it... |
Brown and Green Dappled Kelssyroth, hatched at Abri Kelssyroth wants her rider to be happy - but she also wants the rest of the Tribe to prosper. She hopes that the mate she finds will have an appropriate partner for Temih - but unless that male is a cheetah or feline type kin, Temih's not going to be interested. Temih already has three offspring, two of them aged in the Nexus where time is meaningless. |
