Doll by Dollwizard.com

Name: Kenga

Gender: Female

Age: 16

Origin: commoner at a fairly small and very poor Hold

Height: 5'10"

Build: underweight, wiry

Skin: tanned

Hair: flaxen blond

Eyes: forest green

Personality: Kenga believes herself to be hideously ugly, mostly because of her shabby clothing and almost nonexistant grooming habits. The fact is if you cleaned her up, she'd be reasonably pretty, but she'll need another 20-odd pounds before she's really fleshed out. She is sullen, withdrawn and moody, but she rarely makes a fuss when told what to do, especially if her work keeps her from encountering anyone that will mock her. She well and truly thinks that she'll never find true love, so when she was Searched for Whiterock Weyr's clutch she was actually overjoyed. After all, a girl like her needs some help finding a man, let alone the right man.

History: since she was essentially an unwanted addition to an already large family, Kenga was passed around from relative to relative all during her youngest years. She has no clear idea who her mother really is, though she suspects the head cook of the Hold because of the color of her hair. She also suspects (and has been told infrequently by elder members of the community) that her father may have been a rider. Though there was always plenty to do, Kenga was usually given duties such as cleaning latrines and scrubbing oil stains off things, almost never anything to do with fine handiworks or appearing in public. A classic drudge with a heart of gold, Kenga will willingly put herself into danger if she knows it'll save someone who is 'more important' than she is.

1. What color do you particularly want to Impress?

e. Green
The backbone of any wing, right?

2. Any colors you DO NOT want to get?

a. Gold
I'm so not interested in being a queen-rider. No thank you.

3. Extrovert or Introvert?

d. Friends are nice, but I like plenty of time to myself as well.
I can't stand all the bickering and wherry-clucking. But it's nice to have some friends around.

4. Nervous about the Hatching?

c. I just want to get it over with already.
If it'll stop all these girls in the dorm from chattering about what they're going to Impress, by all means. Hatch.

5. Are you a leader, or a follower?

b. I don't think I'd like being in charge. I'd rather just keep my head down and do what I'm told.
I know better than to think I'd lead anyone, they won't follow an ugly girl like me anyway.

6. Someone played a mean-spirited prank on another candidate. What do you do?

e. Roll my eyes and studiously ignore the commotion.
This is no place for that. I always thought Weyrs were supposed to be all rigorous and wait until *after* Threadfall to have orgies and stuff....

7. Some of your friends dare you to go somewhere dangerous. What do you do?

None of the above: friends? I wouldn't let any friends of mine try getting me to do something stupid. If they did, they wouldn't be my friends for very long.

8. You find someone's stray pet canine. What do you do?

b. Take care of it until I find its owner.
Someone left a dog! Is it another candidate? Or just someone passing through? I don't know, but it'll be pretty easy to find out.

***

The first hatching has occurred, and Kenga couldn't be happier! Exhausted, hungry, hot... Whose emotions are these? Why, they're Fuhnolth's of course!

This sensitive green steps daintily toward the candidates, finally deciding on Kenga!

Fuhnolth depends entirely on her rider now - Fresh cut meats, a good rubdown... And then, on to Weyrling training for the next several months!

Kenga knows that Fuhnolth's personality is definitely a follower. She'll take good commands, so Kenga concentrates on learning her lessons. Fuhnolth is skittish around most bigger dragons, even into young adulthood, and she is not a large green. However, she trains every day, chewing firestone and learning to follow instructions. Kenga is diligent in learning star patterns, the motion of the skies controls where Thread falls, so she will learn it through and through.
