Sabon Weyr Giveaway

Odeso was always the more charming of his siblings. Always up front and helpful, attending guests and family members with whatever they needed. But he was no little brown-noser, no. He wanted to learn, he wanted to collect things, but he didn't want to necessarily be the center of attention. He could be trained as a steward for the Hold, Odeso was attentive and smart. While he was kindly and entertaining, however, he had a problem sharing almost anything he was given. If he earned a mark or two, or bought something at a gather, expect to never, ever touch it lest you risk Odeso's wrath!

Apart from that issue however, Odeso was the model boy for a wealthy Hold. His mother didn't dote upon him the way she would a daughter, but she did favor him much more than her husband's ... indescretions who also ran around in their home. If information came into the Hold when Odeso's father wasn't around, mother treated him to it first. He could easily have been spoiled by this behavior, but instead he merely kept collecting things and learning.

Though it was hardly expected of him, as he was progressing as a steward at the age of 12, Odeso went out with the local hunters and learned to weild bows and spears. He was good with those, but was better at helping to fix them when they'd broken. If someone lost a spearhead, he'd have another on in a moment. And in the dangerous woods near his home Hold, it was vital to learn how to communicate with whistles, birdcalls and leaving small indications of direction that animals would not understand.

It was many of those things, which he enjoyed doing for many years to come, that helped him learn how to operate in a wing on a dragon. But that was getting ahead of things. He was Searched at the age of 17, but didn't impress for three years, standing on a variety of sands in that time, and drifting between Weyrs and Holds. He always kept his cool, always learned names and places, showed proper respect and enjoyed helping out when it looked like the Headwoman or Steward needed it.

He knew that his home Hold would be all right in the hands of his younger siblings, but he also felt that if he didn't Impress at some point, he'd have a home almost anywhere with his skills. With confidence, then, he was brought to Sabon where he found himself a beautifully dark blue dragon!

I am Oasyth, I like your name, O'so. It's like mine! The dragon bespoke, and thus was begun a wonderful partnership.

O'so and Oasyth did fly well in wings and teams, but where they really shone was with making sure that everyone knew who was coming and going. Before any drums called through the weyr, before word of mouth could move an inch, they were already spreading every visitor's information. With this under their belts, they were invited to Dragonhope to perform the same duties. Though they have on occasion flown in fighting wings, their abilities with making visitors feel at home are more important, and thus they remain in the non-fighter wing. O'so thinks it might even be fun to try and get a spot in the Queen's wing, to be around all those beautiful girls.
