Darkling Dawn |
Yannic was curious, though rarely impressed with the results of his queries. Ever since he was a tiny lad, he would stick his nose into other people's business. More innocently than aggrivating, his pointed questions could draw a laugh or a sudden tear, a moment of silence or even raw anger from adults. Just try and tell Yannic that his goat won't be going with him anywhere... And suddenly this child of time-tossed holders will become so posessive that you'd wonder if he wasn't Impressed to it. The only one of the Last in Line to own a pet, really, he perhaps was allowed the pet as a token. Very little else would come from his family holdings, after all, so give the boy a goat to care for and take his mind off it. The only thing that Yannic was truly scared of, not flying or getting hurt or the dark. His grandmother Yonka. But then, nearly everyone was in some way afraid of her. Though Yannic could not read, he could do reasonable maths, and has an impressive ability to concentrate even at his age. His memory is impressive, he's good with watching and learning - especially in physical skills. With his goat helping out, Yannic has an impressive array of dodges, jumps and running kicks that attract the attention of the Hold guard. It would have been interesting to see whether they'd have recruited him into their ranks, teaching him the way of the spear or sheild, but instead, he was Searched. Youngest of the bunch, and first to Impress. Yannic stood at Darkling Dawn nervously, for the clutch to hatch one by one. Yannic noticed that there was a gold egg, and wondered if one of his friends would have impressed her. While he was thinking, however, he felt a nudge on his hand. It was so similar to the way that Gruffy (his goat) would do it that he merely moved his hand to stroke the muzzle and pull on one of Gruffy's horns. But there was no horn. In fact there was no fur. Because it was the muzzle of a darkly blue dragonet! Startled, Yannic almost jumped away, but then realized - he had a warm, glowing feeling in the pit of his stomach. His mind swam, like his eyes. "Siahonith," he said, hugging the dragonet's neck, "I could never mistake you for Gruffy now!" Yannic spent two years learning the ways of a rider, at Darkling Dawn. He saw many things, in that time. Deaths, births, and betweenings, romance and anger. Siahonith grew into a large blue, bigger than most and even as big as some medium browns. They are now headed back to Dragonhope, to see their friends and join a new wing.
