... Paired at Chindor Castle

Image Credits : meiker mystery gang

Name: Sacan

Gender/Pref: Female, straight

Age: 18

Hair: auburn, fluffy, slightly curled at the back of her neck

Eyes: grey blue, almost a cloudy blue color

Appearance: light brown skin, turns quite copper if she sits in the sun for a while; She's neither tall nor short, around 5'6" tall, though she is sturdy in build so she tends to look a little more imposing that she actually is in personality.

Family: Unknown, she showed up with a tour group one day and simply never left Chindor, doing odd jobs until becoming an Aspirant. It seems she's not from anywhere around here, though she thinks she might find a home at Dun Keiba if they will have her, eventually

Aspirant At: Chindor Castle, sent 5.13.24

Skills: Whatever you need, as long as it doesn't require oddly specific technical knowledge or life-long skills to perform! She will watch with wide eyes and reproduce actions easily, though she will also ask questions before being left alone with a task she's unfamiliar with. She'll pick up a hammer and help you assemble a wall, dig ditches and help lay pipes, paint walls or do dishes. Sacan is clever enough to spot where she's needed most, she won't show up with a line of people ready to perform the same task - she'll select a shop that obviously needs sweeping and ask if they've got a broom, or help feed your chickens and goats while your baby takes your attention.

Personality: determined and eager to please, she is attentive to details that help her survive in a strange world. She likes daydreaming about what might be or what has gone on, and in that regard she seems like a bit of a fluff-head. But she's smart and quite capable. Even with her strange history here, she's not one to dwell on the dark parts of life, and always looks forward, encouraging others to do the same. She's not super chipper all the time, but when she's not working to help someone else, she's humming to herself and gazing at the clouds looking for any glimpse of a drak.

Background: She's not really sure how exactly she wound up separated from her family, they'd been on some kind of Castle tour and then they just weren't there. She was old enough not to start crying or panicking, but that was three years ago, and she's had to make due since they were on the road basically her entire life. She wouldn't know where to even start looking, aside from 'somewhere down the road'. She would like to be reunited with them at some point, but it also is clear to her - even if she won't openly admit it - that they abandoned her there perhaps because there were many other mouths to feed or duties they had to get on with and couldn't spare the time to send for her later.

(Some from hatching by Trix)

There was obviously a lot going on at any Castle, but now that she'd been taken to the actual interior of the 'formal' location, not just wandering the inns and cobbled street vendors for days on end, Sacan got a taste of a slightly more posh life. Aspirant barracks were still group affairs but the beds were if anything considerably nicer than any of the Inns (although she maybe hadn't been at the 'best' of them). She was still both excited and a touch scared about all of it, when the mother drak gave the call, people and other draks echoing it through the entire place: the draklings were now ready to choose their knights!

Would she be good enough for a drak? Well, there were four little ones awaiting the arrivals. Their mother Meyanal announced them one by one, it was when the third was brought out that Sacan felt a tingle in her gut and her brain.

"My third daughter, Water Quoosal." Meyanal continued, "Kind and compassionate with a keen eye for detail."

The water drakling gave a little tap with her tail, but it was more a gesture of embarrassment than anything else. Quoosal calmly walked toward Sacan, a local girl with a good set of skills and a bright future.

"I love helping others too." Quoosal told Sacan quietly before nodding off.

Sacan didn't really noticed anything else after that! She had been given enough instruction about what to expect, they would certainly be needing rest before any gathering or party in their honor!

They were trained by a woman named Mary, and it was surprisingly of interest because she and Issnidi her forest drak were Judges! While Sacan wasn't entirely sure that she and her new partner were perfectly suited to that task, both eagerly did all they could to learn. From basics like how to hunt and walk or swim, flight strength training, to geography and histories of various locations far and wide. All of it was soaked into both young minds. But also the other systems they would probably need to work with: local justices, laws and regulations, fees and fines (it was clear that Sacan would be the one doing the math...), personality assessment, appraising family duties and local customs.

This would serve very well as time went on. Sacan and Quoosal were flown around before they could do it for themselves, introduced to a number of officials in nearby - and not so nearby - Castles and villages. While it was somewhat clear that Mary had 'settled down' a little, the stories she would tell them on their journeys were hair-raising at times! But her wandering and excitement about everything had brought her to Icarus, so she'd likely never really stop looking at everything with such wonder and joy.

It was infectious, to say the least! Particularly since Sacan's mind was already open to a great many plans or ideas. She knew better than to actively try to get into trouble, but Mary's sly hints that there were 'worlds and people beyond' kept coming back to echo in Sacan's mind.

Quoosal too wondered: were there draks on those other places? Would people there like to become knights?

"I still don't really know that I'm suitable for a knight's job," Sacan confided to Mary, "but this really is the life!"

When they learned how to produce the portals which allowed the entire world to truly open up to them, that was when they both began to shine. While Quoosal was still humble and rarely wanted the center of attention, both of them would walk through a new place with head held high and a confidence to their step. Never hesitating to help someone pull a hay bale up to a cart, or prop a fallen tree up to rescue a logger, it was in this manner that they realized that perhaps... Perhaps this was the right course.

They would eventually finalize their training at Chindor, and met with the Princes and Princesses of several different Castles before choosing to head back to Dun Keiba, where the warm air would make Quoosal's fur shed a bit more than it did up at Chindor, but that merely meant they would be able to deposit plenty of it to the weavers (also... knights and draks! with such luxurious fur!).

"We'll welcome anyone you decide to bring," the Prince said, "so don't be a stranger!"

It was odd, being new to places and never quite recognized by anyone, but being so welcome. She knew she would eventually find her family, somewhere out there, but in the meantime she might help reunite others, and at times bring back Aspirants as well.

Name: Quoosal (koo oh sawl)
Gender: Female
Size/Shoulder/Length: medium-small 7'8" shoulder
Colors: Water, a light aquamarine-green body, mottled pale blue wingsails, and dusky blue-green mane
Features: Chindor Drak, four legs with large paws, and four wings with one large visible finger edge, mane is very fluffy and covers from head and neck all the way down back and last half of tail fully
Powers: Winged Flight, Quoosal enjoys slow flight over wide open country soaking up the warmth from a grassland, and likes the nip in the air of a high-altitude race equally. She prefers to fly alone with only her knight, but then there are the times she assists bringing Aspirants back to various places! She doesn't struggle with two riders, but any more than that and she will have to take her time to get where they're going, as well as rest when they get back
Portal Creation, she is markedly adept at creating portals, and has a very good memory for the right locations to head when needed. Her portals remain open for use for about 30 full seconds as she concentrates, to make sure any stragglers won't be left behind. Her portals can reach other worlds, thanks to Mary's training and wild stories
Verbal Speech, though she doesn't speak much unprompted, Quoosal has a wide vocabulary and understands quite a lot more than people might expect a drak to. Since they travel quite extensively she understands different dialects and terms from a wide variety of professions when they encounter them
Mental Bond, her bond to Sacan is snug and secure, allowing them to trade brief mental images and emotion, at close range. They have both found that when they sleep at the same time, they often dream together
Acid Spit, though it's a last resort for this pair, Quoosal can spit a potent acid that is accurate to around 20 meters, coating things with a sticky and painful goo. It's not strong enough to really kill anything quickly, but if left untended animals and necii will certainly suffer. It keeps them at bay while Sacan is busy helping people in other ways
Parentage: Rain Meyanal and Night Luïkios
Origin: Chindor Castle cluch 8
Other Info: Always gentle and kind, though sometimes that kindness might be exploited by those around the pair. Quoosal knows her limits, however, and while she must sometimes turn down requests for immediate aid, it's always with a promise to find the right help - they have a to-do list that is always being added to, with plenty of completed 'missions'
