I'll take that, .... yoink! No one really heard her say it, but that's what she would have said. She was too far from the Sanctum to be heard by them, and her mind worked at too high a frequency for those locals to hear casual thoughts. She slunk easily around this clutch with an 'eye' on stealth, evading close scrutiny with a twitch of her lightly-scented wings. She'd had to gather her wits to get away from the Sanctum long enough to do this, and kept that up now in order to purloin a hatchling. Maybe two. Maybe... noooot, they were very aggressive and squirmy, and she didn't want to put them in resin, that was too heavy to drag around. She needed her newfound friend to be mobile and willing.
And she found that in the form of Rhaokar'isan. He was delightfully dark and sleek, and evaded several random slashes from his siblings on the way toward her. She'd laid a bit of a trap, planting scents in a trail toward her hiding spot. Those that arrived, well, they'd be 'hers' forever. Many of the hatchlings seemed to sniff at those spots, but only this one managed to find them all, a long game of connect the dots.
From his perspective, these markings were like a beacon. His colorful belly rubbed over them, he sniffed deeply at each one, making his mouth water (or ... acid, whatever these creatures had for saliva) and his mind becoming more and more sure of where to go. When he saw her, glowing bits faintly visible behind a sheen of thin resin protecting her from other eyes, he knew she was for him.
Mine, they both said to each other. It was a match made not in haste but out of careful deliberation. Perhaps not necessity, even though his one parent was 'traditional'.
We will be so fine together, you'll see. You can be my... bodyguard. That's it.
I like that thought, the snake-like dragon replied. I will help you with your duties.
Bedy paused for a while. Pondering it, she won't like that I have my own but what can she do about it, kick me out? Knowing that's kind of what I want... Bedytdass chuckled to herself. Her little friend wouldn't be all that much bigger than she was, though probably about half as tall.
Eventually as they made their way back to a strange narrow portal back to the Sanctum, Bedy nearly giggled with glee at how easily he squirmed right through it. He might not be able to back up, with that head gear of his, but that's fine... there would always be ways to dig out if he got somewhere too narrow to move forward...

Powers: running/slithering/climbing, where most dragons around the Nexus are flighted, this one is able to run and climb, slithering mainly with his arms to help propel him upwards or cling to areas quite improbably; can get into spots around 1 foot across with a little difficulty moving backwards because of his spikes
Teleportation, anywhere within sight or that can be strongly visualized in the mind, he can reach with some effort; this is not his best ability but it's enough to move him and his bond somewhere quickly
Communication; Verbal Speech, The ability to communicate in spoken words and Telepathy, The ability to communicate mind-to-mind; he's actually quite lucid and while not talkative he has an extensive vocabulary; Bedy loves this about him, they can chat about anything given a little research...
Venomous Stinger, The tail-barb is venomous; Rhaokar has markedly potent venom in his tail, and can use this to take down prey that's considerably larger than a single dragon might tackle at his size. Of course you don't want to just bite into it after he's killed it, the venom will go inert after about an hour. Bedy doesn't care, she gobbles down whatever freshly killed meat he's brought immediately - considering the venom to be 'added spice'.
Breath Weapon (Fire), The ability to breathe a gout of fire; he has blisteringly hot fire breath though it's limited in its scope to about 10 meters away before it becomes merely 'warm', but that's usually enough to clear out any unwanted visitors from the passageways into Bedy's chambers...
Fire Immunity, Invulnerability to fire, he can roll around in a bonfire, in fact he kind of likes doing that
