Name: Aria Gender: Female, she/her, gay Age: 20 Origin: coastal Paniyan port Family: A lighthouse keeper and his extended relatives; mother is deceased but her sister (aunt) helped raise Aria Other: She has her eye on a spot on the Sea Council Height: 5'11" / Weight: burly and well padded, curvy, don't tell her she floats well because of that Hair: prematurely white, a feature of her father's line; kept under her tam but there is enough to have a bun and when loose is to her shoulders at least Eyes: hazel green, narrowed and with naturally long lashes Appearance: though her mother's side of the family is tanned and somewhat swarthy, she takes after her father with his peaches and cream with freckles skin tone. Aria's smile is exactly as snarky as her personality. She is quite attractive according to anyone who sees her, and if you can tolerate her loud laugh and extremely strong slaps on the back, she'll be your friend for life. She loves having nice warm clothing, but doesn't shy away from diving directly into the chill waters around her family's lighthouse, though she will definitely take those nice suede shoes off first Genetic Abilities: she is strongly attuned to the needs of dragons around herself, gifted with a bit of T-power that helps her sense when there are sea dragons nearby. Likely this was why she was selected to stand at the Swim |

Skills or Profession: raised in a lighthouse with the expectations that she and her cousins would take it over when her father retired, so she knows all the ins and outs of its upkeep, repair, how to recharge the battery (they have an electric light) and change out the lighting and mirrors. But also the rough seas taught her how to swim and dive, keeping track of the weather and the night sky, watching for ships as well as dragons with a keen eye. She can also hold her ale, but she will zonk out with coffee so she avoids it - imagine that, right? She's learning how to recognize different breeds of dragons, both sea and air, by their wing or head types, and will certainly be good at navigating actually in the water soon enough
Personality: precisely as rough and tumble as the seas by her family's lighthouse, Aria enjoys everything about life on the rough northern coast. But she also loves to learn about the sea, maps, the night sky and stars, the weather... anything to do with why a lighthouse needs to exist, in fact, she is pretty well informed about!
Events or History: The far-western point of Paniya Island is known as the Shark's Tail, and it is at the very western edge, on the northern side, where the lighthouse stands. It has been there for nearly 100 years, three full generations with hers being the fourth. Her mother passed when she was an infant, unrelated to any storm or even the sea itself, though no one has told her exactly why. She's got enough family that the loss, while keen for some, hasn't really hit her as hard as one might imagine. From her aunt she's learned a lot about survival and cooking, fishing and trapping, as well as how to cure hides from sea animals into durable cloaks and tarps. But it's her father that taught her everything he knows from the tip of the lighthouse's beacon to the very bedrock that the place is carved from. Repairs, maintenance, even how best to keep the place warm, a vital skill in fact. She knows that he would like to retire and open an inn nearby, the family housing expanded over the decades as he was a youth, so there's lots of room for visitors. Since they are on the coast they often host ships in the docks on the sheltered southern cliff harbor. Those ships, she knows, will head either around the north to House Faustas and weirder places (and people), or south around to the Kshau side and all those colorfully dressed but uptight folks as well as their unusual non-local dragons. One of those dragons visited her lighthouse, spotted her, and decided to toss the idea out that she ought to stand for a dragon. It was clear that this rider thought that might mean 'a flying dragon' but she's far more suited to a seaborn one, given that the only heights she tolerates are those she has her feet on the floor of the beacon's mirror housing in the light house... |
