Name - Madeline Joy Farber Age / Gender - 14 (October 31, sign = Scorpio), female Family - Born in Sweden, but speaks English Mother: Katherine Farber (American, author/artist) Appearance Height: 5'3" (will be 5'8" or so) Clothing Preferred - muggle gear and things with floofy feathers, shiny bits and danglies, or concert t's. Hates the sedate idea of a school that won't let its students express themselves by their clothing. Specialties - Charms and Potions are easy for her, she loves following instructions and having clear information to understand. She's excellent at mapmaking and instructions of that sort, and is absolutely the best treasure hunter around. If she ever discovers GeoCaching she'll probably have a ball with that too. She's bound to become an administrator or teacher, she enjoys making schedules and keeping to them. Weakness - can't stand being told no, or not to do something she enjoys, and hasn't yet caught up to the fact that she's not a grown up and doesn't get to do all those grown-up things yet. She also has a lot of muggle friends, who she hates leaving behind when she goes to magical school. No other particular magical weaknesses. Wand- Oak wood with griffin tail feather core, 10" Familiar - none yet, but cats like her Unusual Studies- Collecting trading cards (both magical and muggle), loves to read and act, though she's a better sight-reader than actor, and enjoys singing - but she's not particularly good at that either (do NOT let her do karaoke!) Enjoys muggle pop music and its stars, has a collection of shiny muggle stuff only some of which she knows how to use. Dragon - Red Maxlasth from Black Sheep Weyr |

Story Maddy and her siblings were all relieved when their parents took them out of Hogwarts (well, Lydia didn't even get the chance to go, Maddy'd barely been halfway through her first year when they moved officially to Domina) to finally settle where their skills would be appreciated the most. House Domina was a riotously fun place for each of the Farbers. Maddy stood in awe of their library (though it wasn't as big and old as Hogwarts, it didn't have a special section locked off - that section was merely pointed out 'be safe when you look at these') and thought that their off-world studies programs were more important than the dusty old history books that Hogwarts insisted upon learning. Lydia was more apt to hang out with the necromancers of all people - turned out she was talking to ghosts all that time... Max also traded time with the necromancers, as well as the professors who allowed him to do private studies and projects on the side. What he was doing was a mystery - only he knew, and perhaps a few of the much smarter professors. Maddy didn't want to know. And Gray, he just had a ball with the quidditch and dragon quid players. As far as he was concerned, there was nothing better in the world than being challenged by a small dragon to a game of tag when he could fly on his enchanted skateboard! Maddy kept immaculate notes (well, immaculate to her - inarticulately messy to most others) about the building, who was in each class with her, and what seats remained empty when they should have had a student in them. And at the very least, there were no weirdly moving staircases here, hardly any really hidden doors or hallways. The right place often just sprang upon someone in need, it looked as though the headmistress Zora had designed the school to be fun instead of oppressive. In fact she learned those spells to change her appearance, from Zora directly! When charms weren't enough, Zora stepped in with exotic bottles of hair gel and color from muggle shops nearby. Zora loved to talk with Maddy about muggle life. She'd lived a little while as one, as had a couple of the other profs. But magical life was all too alluring for everyone. Maddy decided it was very nice to keep a close watch on muggle life, it could be even more convienent than magical! For instance, when you wanted to talk to someone, you just called them. When you wanted to talk to another witch, you had to scare up some powders and a fireplace that wasn't already in use, and stick your head into it... gah! That just wasn't fun at all. Maddy and her siblings were among those called upon to watch for upcoming dragon hatchings - a few pieces of magical parchment were handed out, and Maddy didn't think twice about it. She put hers into the corner of her dresser's mirror, and forgot about it. It was one of those blank pieces of paper that any artist or writer would have lying around - only ... Then it drew a map on itself. About a month into the spring season, shortly before the end of her fourth year in school, Maddy's map told her that she ought to show up to a place called Black Sheep Weyr. She giggled, now that was a funny name for a place that bred dragons! She didn't have to do much other than hold on to the piece of paper and incant what it spelled out for her. Once she'd finished speaking the words, and made a little flick of her wand, Maddy vanished from her room in a puff of purplish smoke. She appeared in a darkened hallway, with a number of others already gathered. This was interesting... But she didn't have any of her stuff! That almost threw her for a loop, Maddy would rather have been fully prepared to be somewhere new. (That was one of her weaker points and one which her mother and father kept nagging at her about - read ahead, don't speak until you know what you're saying!) However, within a day she'd fallen in with another few people, all of whom were ready to stand for a dragon on the place's sands. Maddy, like the others in House Domina, got a reasonably good prior education about dragons and how they behaved - both earthly ones and off-worlders. And in this case, she was glad to know they were offworld dragons, because boy oh boy she didn't want to deal with a ridgeback or something! All her paperwork? Gone in a flash of fire? No way! And besides, there was a flitter nest hatching - Maddy and the others eagerly got in line for one, and she recieved a lovely tiny-sized blue male! "HontoAo," she said carefully, repeating it as as name until the blue seemingly understood. He'd never be very great at remembering his name, true blue, but Maddy liked it and he ate readily from her hand when she offered food. He wasn't a cat, and she wondered whether the cats in House Domina would like him or ... Maybe they'd all chase each other around, she thought that'd be far more fun.
The egg Blunt Red hatched out of was fairly nondescript. Those who had been expecting an array of purely traditional colours were surprised when a red creature stepped from the shells of her egg without a look behind her, but only just-- this clutch did run with partially alskyrian blood, after all, and it had hatched in Mindspace. Blunt Red evidently didn't hold much stock in their opinions, because she took a moment, once she was stable, to give each and every person she'd caught such a thought from a very specific, un-amused kind of look. Madaline laughed and obliged the dragonet, leading her to the feeding area, away from the sands.

Tumpul, "Blunt" Red Dragonet Sardonic and blunt are two adjectives that couldn't describe this girl better. Not necessarily for the sake of being nasty, or just to be nasty-- just because that's the way she is. Blunt Red is a very inherently calm dragoness, and she's actually very good-natured-- she just doesn't seem that way. She has plenty of patience and can be incredibly affectionate-- you just have to be able to stomach her sarcastic remarks, which come hand in hand with everything else about her. She'll say them whenever she deems the situation appropriate, sliding the comment in an undertone to her rider-- who will likely get less of this dragonet's side comments than everyone else. One of Blunt Red's principles is honesty-- perhaps too much. She's an incredibly fair being, but she's going to say what she thinks, if you ask her for her honest opinion. She won't tone it down for you, either-- she is, after all, the blunt red dragon. It's not intentional, but her honesty borders on harshness. Her replies to most questions or situation will be sardonic, as well, but they probably won't be as harsh for anyone who can stomach sarcasm in the least. One thing Blunt Red definitely is is intelligent. This is a dragon knows exactly what she's doing, and she endeavors to become familiar with a subject before she dives right into it. She's got the natural instincts of a leader-- not the forward, 'I'm ambitious so let's go' type of leader, but the calmer 'this would work this way, so we ought to do it this way' type. She's got a manner to her that may cause people to look to her for direction, as much because confident in herself and her abilities than some deeper, nameless part of her that radiates that kind of charisma. So long as they can stomach the sarcasm, people may find Blunt Red to be a capable and apt leader. Those who can't will still find her a capable leader, but may not be so fond of her-- sarcasm is key, after all. Likewise, her level of honesty may put some people off. Still, even if it's just with a team of a few people, Blunt Red will prove a good leader, and anything she commands will probably be practical and efficient. Blunt Red doesn't take crap from people, either. She won't get into a huge fight about it, but she will stand her ground, in a quiet, unmoving kind of way. Her firmness is rarely swayed, and she is rarely manipulated, which may perhaps make her good in dealing with children and weyrlings and the like. Unfortunately, she possesses little in the way of that specific empathy that lets a dragon choose likely candidates. Blunt Red will really only loose her rational cool when flight time rolls around, at which point she'll become an incredibly irate ball of hormonal red dragon, whose way it is best to keep out of for the duration of this time. Abilities: Teleportation, Telekinesis, Telepathy, Assisted Firebreath |
