Name: Gavin Tummel

Gender: Male, straight

Age/DOB: 40@RC, arrived RY9

Origin: Aperturth, Boston, working at Texas facility

Family: Unknown, likely to have had a wife but he doesn't wear a ring

Other: Gavin has always gotten weird looks from some of the PHEAR team members, because he reminds them of someone they worked for, with the same name. However he is not that Gavin.

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 175, though he's not overweight by any stretch, he is not tremendously strong. More agile in his middle age than he looks, though, he's used to quickly skittering away from dangers, and there are plenty of those everywhere he's worked

Hair: medium brown, stiff and thick, usually kept cropped pretty short as shown, with a bit of pattern balding on the temples; almost always has 5 o'clock shadow, but keeps his face clean shaven

Eyes: brightly blue, under angled brows, doesn't need glasses but still squints more for effect than because he cannot focus; starts of crowsfeet and baggy lids, he was tired of this shit long before the Resonance Cascade

Appearance: light skinned with little in the way of body hair, with prominent moles and a few age spots; he prefers slacks and button-up shirts, ties, and jackets, but is quite familiar with body armor and protective gear which he definitely uses regularly. He speaks with a slight Bostonian accent, though he's also picked up on the Texas Twang

Genetic Abilities: None known but he is quick on his feet and probably that had helped him survive their RC as well as his OSHA job. He didn't display anything new or weird when their RC happened, but it's possible that he's still hiding something; he is a bit more intimidating than a doughy middle-aged guy ought to be.

Icarus Processing: none, but the Resonance Cascade on Aperturth most certainly hit him square on. He would not benefit directly from having either the Icarus or Plasmid mixture, either way, but he doesn't show any negative markers for it

Skills or Profession: safety and security are his concerns anywhere he goes. As an OSHA inspector he was used to being called to sites that Aperture was using, and also used to the runaround they would always give him for why there weren't adequate precautions in place. He can sigh like nobody's business to convey an infinite array of annoyances and meaning. Practical upshot is, he knows where hand rails and safety barriers need to be put up, and he will get that done by bullying anyone on a project until they get the budget settled. These days, he's actively called upon to make sure that families and inhabitants at the Rookery and North Aperture sites are safer than they'd ever have been, and he thinks it is a nice change that those things are actually put into place if he says so. He has a very extensive civil engineering background, well beyond a checklist of points for OSHA, he knows how buildings are made inside and out.
Personality: he's tired of this shit. But then he does realize that here on the Rookery that much more is at stake and he goes out of his way to protect those who need it now. Back on his home world he knew that Aperture would ignore him, he's still a bit unsure of why Black Mesa is so 'big' in this world, since it wasn't on his own? He is inquisitive but not necessarily curious, he'll badger a point until it's made, and is an excellent debate team player.

Events or History: Born and raised in Boston, his family were mostly cops, but his brother became a fireman, and he was positive that he wasn't good enough physically to do that. But when that brother perished in a fire that was absolutely preventable when Gavin was 15, he realized the heart of the problem wasn't necessarily having a brave and sturdy fireman - it was having buildings that were actually good, instead of being tinderboxes or deathtraps. He dedicated himself to learning all about building materials and processes, and to make them better he applied for a job at OSHA and got it instantly on graduating with a Bachelor's degree. He was put on a task force to make sure that any weird-ass experiments Aperture was doing were being done safely. And if only they'd cloned him a hundred times, they would have seen all the signs that their Resonance Cascade was about to occur.

He was at the Texas facility where Therese, Hugo, Russell and others were working, and let off a continuous stream of 'I Told You So's' the entire time they were escaping. However, he did know how to build temporary shelters, and where to not be standing when buildings were falling down around them. He resides permanently in North Aperture's Shaft 6 / Sphere 2, where he and Tussok keep people from falling into the depths, but is on call regularly at the Rookery. He doesn't have any experience with the undersea facility Rapture, and seems like he would be needed too much there - and he really does not want to go.

Dragon

Name: Tussok
Gender: Female
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium-large (broad, heavy) 11'6" s / 50' l / 96' ws
Colors: belly from chin to tail tip, behind legs buff creamy pink; intermediate neck light khaki tan; face, middle neck light rusty brown; limbs, dorsal neck and body, tail insets, wing arms, medium yellowy-brown; forehead, hind legs, tail main darker orange-brown; armor, divider scales, horns, claws, dorsal spikes dark brown; wingsails highly reflective coppery brown that appears quite dark or quite russet depending on the lighting; eyes cyan, her eyes match Gavin's in intensity if not hue
Features: Mudwing, or as others like to put it, Stick-in-the-Mudwing
Powers: Winged Flight, though she's burly, Tussok is a good short-range flier, and is much faster into the air than you'd expect such a large dragoness. She can leap straight into the air and catch her first flaps almost scraping the ground, but she doesn't need much more than her current footprint to take off, as long as there's vertical space available. She gets a good workout doing so in the Shafts, and enjoys being a kind of living elevator for her human. She can carry a lot even with this method of taking off, though there will be a jolt, so if she's needed to carry anything she usually takes off first, and then hovers for it to be handed off. She isn't good at longer distance flights, but has no problem with multiple short up and downs.
Communication, she is adept with Draconic, and understands a little Aquatic dragon, and has a clear understanding of English though some accents tend to mess her up; though she lacks other Vortal inputs, she and Gavin are actually bonded mentally. She can tell whether he's agitated or angry, and usually goes to see what's pissing him off, often joining in.
Mud Shape, while she does have the ability to self-heal (and can extend this to Gavin if really needed) with magically-infused mud, she tends to use her magic to actively shape volumes of it instead. Brickwork, stucco, landscaping, tunneling, all these things are her domain. She can sense through soft dirt, sand, mud, silt, the wetter the better, to almost 2km away, with detail able to find small items in large blocks of it. If you've lost your wedding ring in a thick pond she can bring it to the surface with ease. However she will also use this power to mire dragons or people that she thinks are wandering into dangerous situations. It takes a very strong dragon to break out of her foot-snaring muck, and no human could possibly do it (beyond perhaps those few super-humans around). When they're going into any given battle, for instance, she'll make sure that injured dragons stay put while others heal them, and can immobilize enemies for very easy shots. Her shaping power works best under 200 meters, however. It is quick, if she can think it, the stuff just moves right up to fill the air or cover a creature. She'd considered the name Tarpit, but she can't actually work very well with tar itself, as it's not really 'dirt'.

Other Info: She is exactly as stubborn and clear on the rules as her human friend, and they get long very well. In fact she's tried learning how to convey those heavy sighs he does, as she thinks they perfectly capture the mood most of the time they enter an unsafe area.
