Such a physical creature to come from a reasonably sedate pair of moms! Even their siblings don't tend toward the aggressive martial arts moves or intense bouts of mall-shopping and equally focused typing-of-code as Fletcher does. Of course, none of them also have those same unusual powers - Fletcher first 'monstered out' at an event Mom-Bess's diving class, although no one really noticed because the churning waters and lots of screaming kids already thought the family were inflatable toys...
So in order to more easily not get worn out by trying to keep up with him, they put Fletcher into martial arts classes and eagerly gave him access to equipment, musical instruments, whatever could occupy those busy hands and energetic body long enough for dinner to get made.
Their family resides deeply in the 'nice' area near Carramba, and is quite big particularly compared to many in the area - but that's mostly because they're spawn-breeders, rather than fur families with one or two kids at a time. And a big family needed a big house, right? This one is a hit with their friends because of the massive crafted lagoon back yard pool, lounge, and even a wet bar for the adults in the area. Needless to say, summertime at the Skinkerton mansion is a very noisy time!
It was made noisier than typical when Fletcher picked up the drums and decided they were 'for him'... (At least it wasn't their nest sib who chose kazoo...) And that made signing him up for marching band a nobrainer. Marching around would surely tire him out, drumming would be getting all that excess upper body fidget smoothed out.
Only... it made him even more energetic than before, and stronger, more durable... His friend group became the source for a lot of afterschool and mid-season vacation activity as well, and Halloween was definitely going to be a lot of fun for everyone. They'd encouraged Fletcher to dress up and boy oh boy a 'tweenage-monster-shuriken-tosser' was born!
After school they all dolled up, Fletcher taking a few minutes to text their folks and make sure that they remembered they'd be out late. And then: it was ninja-turtle time. They would all make such a great looking group out there, so they had a couple photo sessions before they left campus for the boardwalk.
Something that they hadn't really anticipated was the group's popularity at that beach side amusement park. Fletcher all but had to sign autographs, and a few people recognized their 'real' identity as 'that super slippery kid that had two black-belts already'. And indeed, they did have, and were well on their way to a third and fourth, if only they had just a tiny little more time a day...
It was soon the time of day when they were done with the rides and socializing, and then headed up into the hills. They did actually start with the Skinkerton house, with Mom-Shivaun making sure that they knew Fletcher needed to be moist at some point. It was no problem, since Ken could magic up a nice quick sponge-bath that wouldn't interfere with the makeup job that had gone in to their costume, nor be too soggy and squelch around in the sheer socks and gloves that completed the picture.
Fletcher knew the neighborhood best, and guided them to the houses they'd want to grab the freshest balls of caramel popcorn or full sized Snackers. They all knew that this location was where a good number of kids trucked up to in order to get more than their own areas could afford. But they would be there a little later in the afternoon, and the sun had yet to even go down.
With everything going on, they enjoyed themselves but also remembered to temper their candy eating and drinking water, resting between major intersections, and going with lots of others when they had to cross streets. When they finally decided to take a real sit down rest, they tallied up a considerable haul. Trading was not going to happen until they got back to a well lit area, plus they didn't want to have to dig through even more since they knew they were hardly halfway through their trek.

(from hatching)
And then a sudden shower washed over Fletcher Skinkerton as the water wisp Luyi decided to mark the occasion with her magic... which made Fletcher transform into his monster form.
"Whoa!" he called "You so big." Luyi said happily, "Carry friend?"
Fletcher was waiting. He was happy that two of his friends had bonded and he did already have a wisp attached to him, but he couldn't help but want a little more. Maybe he should get closer to the water. Which was easier said than done when he was still in his monster size. Looking down, he decided getting into the water was probably too dangerous since he could step on one of the hatchlings. Lights were appearing all over the place so it was hard to pinpoint where they were exactly. With a frustrated sigh he returned to waiting but was soon after rewarded when a dark blue male approached in silence. The hatchling looked up to the giant axolotl and sat down.
"I shall do my best to grow." he said plainly and then added, "My name is Cetorhin."
