Dragon |
Name: Cobalt
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Smallish 7'2" s / 40' l / 45' and 22' ws
Colors:* mainly indigo, blues, rich purple and red-violet body and limbs, bleached with brilliant white on face, tail, and feet; pale lilac belly scales; metallic reflective blue wingsail patterns with incredibly bright white; bright white everything else; red eyes
Features: Rain-Silkwing, evenly blended features, silk wings and antennae, rain claws, tail, and frill
Powers: Winged Flight, being the dragon attending to a guy that can drive is a little weird, but he thinks it's all in good fun. He's quick in the air and very light on his feet, so he can perch on a larger vehicle (like... not a little VW Bug, okay?) and even give it some lift with his wings outspread. With his rainwing claws able to clutch into nearly any surface including sheer rock and thin metal, this 'lift' can bring up larger scale vehicles such as train cars or submarines... He's surprisingly strong, in that regard. He can't just up and grab to heft them around, but if they're already in motion, he can use that to his advantage and just yoink them upwards. His strong prehensile tail can also help in this, he loves using it to dangle in a large workshop from the rafters, or hold heavy bits for his rider while they're working on something.
Speech, Cobalt's voice is smoother than some of his visible relatives' in that he doesn't screech or make weird static, it's more like velvet, a soft glove over shiny metal. He has an excellent vocabulary and can nerd out with the best of them, talking shop with his rider or instructors. He can understand but not really pronounce Vortigese, but he does have a good amount of Japanese and even Korean at least for technical specs and industrial terms.
*Color Shifting, All colors are subject to change, except for white areas which go grey or static (body, wingsails), generally not under control.
Venom, like all Rainwings should, he has a potent venom spit that can be used to disable prey or enemies. It doesn't last long, more or less stunning a creature of less than horse-size for about 5 minutes at most, causing numbness and sharp tingling pain that is distracting but not really deadly. Like many Rainwings, however, he's been able to donate some of this on a regular basis to the medical teams at the Rookery, to weaponize it or be of use in medical processes.
Silk, and the flip side of that, is that he can produce silk from glands in his wrists, so if you need something stuck to something else, he's got that covered. This silk is 'low tack', so it doesn't leave residue on small tools or items which might get damaged. It also lasts around as long as the venom effect, about 5 minutes, so anything that had been sticking will release and flutter to the ground or clatter to the floor. This has proven to be pretty useful in the field as well, because he can stick bunches of Combine soldiers together just long enough to get away.
Parentage: Likely related to Raster, Render, Resolution, and Refresh, though unclear which parents might have contributed to this one. Notably this reflective metallic tone to the scales may be from the Rainwing parent's line
Origin: Adopted from Moonshimmer981 on Deviantart, Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland
Other Info: Clever and curious, Cobalt displays coloration that seems to be 'infected' by the Combine processing, but it's actually a disguise. He's been sent undercover to Combine locations, bearing specially tuned signal jammers that help him blend in with other bizarre soldiers looking for dragons and humans to help escape. |
