Features: Silk Hivewing Hybrid, silk body, legs, tail; hive features head neck and wings however he does have Silkwing antennae in addition to the big Hive horns.
Powers: Winged Flight, Hoch is very good with narrow corridors, under forest canopies, urban settings, and difficult or moving terrain such as falling rocks, trees, or enemies. He's very quick even with Ha'sturr on his back, in fact he seems to like the added weight so he can do power dives a little more effectively. He tends to be sent in to battle in the middle of things, rather than as a scout or mop-up duty, because they're very effective at extremely complicated battles. Afterwards, Hoch tends to be pretty tired, and will rest in the sun if possible, or just curl up for a nap wherever they can feel safe.
Communication, though Hoch can speak his voice is edged and dangerous to anyone with sensitive hearing, as it's composed of numerous harmonics and rattling, which can in and of itself become a weapon - that Hivewing side acting up, perhaps. He has a clear and solid connection to his friend Ha'sturr, and other Vorts can communicate with him reasonably easily. While he understands English and Vort, he really never speaks to anyone directly so no one knows what his vocabulary is like.
Goo and Mire; like OH, this silk-hybrid has silk producing glands in his wrists, however what comes out of them is far from 'silky'. His is much more akin to the gooey crystaline Antlion nest material, which is thick and sticky for about a day, and then turns into a hard crust-like shell. This can be used to mire enemies, capture prey, and even store things though hopefully they are able to take getting wet? Because they'll be ick afterwards. This shell lasts indefinitely, though it isn't remarkably strong and will shatter underfoot. Generally speaking, the stuff smells really weird, and if it's been sitting a while and someone disturbs it, the smell will waft back up because under that shell is still wet. He can produce a room full of this goo, a 5x5 meter cube will have a 6 to 8 inch deep crust on it, in about half an hour. He can also spray it at prey or enemies and it will instantly gum everything up, holding them in place, and rendering their weapons generally too icky to use. It's very common to see pockets of this stuff with pests, anything from gnats to headcrabs or turkey-sized animals, dead. It acts as a thick gooey glue trap and you do not want to watch things dying in it.
Parentage: Unknown, however is clearly related to OH on their Hivewing side
Origin: Adopted from Moonshimmer981 on Deviantart, WoF by Tui Sutherland
Other Info: Like his chosen Vort friend, Hoch defied his hive queen and refused to serve against other dragons. He was very young, his wings had hardly dried, and he left that world in favor of this glowing portal to the Rookery. They are very close, Ha'sturr and he, and each will go through great effort to make sure the other is safe. Then, they go out and just destroy Combine activity because they were still built to fight. Hoch strings out his goo and mires enemies, and Ha'sturr's living dart weapon shoots them full of tiny little holes. |
