Dragon |
Name: Barrage
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Large (+wings) 16' s / 90' l / 160' ws!
Colors: belly from chin to tail tip cream-white; mid-scales bright orange; face, limbs, wing arms and dorsal side of wings, neck/body/tail center scales bright to buttery yellow; dorsal armor dark red-rust; wingsails mottled fiery yellow-orange with patches of darker rust, brighter yellow, and lightning-strike white patterning; horns, claws, spikes goldenrod and yellow; eyes glowing yellow*
Features: Tempestwing, Thunder-Cracker Scaled: When a TempestWing egg is struck directly by lightning, the dragonet inside will most likely die. But if they do survive the strike, the lightning is absorbed into their body. *These TempestWings always have yellow, glowing eyes.
Powers: Winged Flight, just don't even pretend like there are better fliers in the Rookery OR Carramba's dragonry. Barrage is absolutely amazing in the air, and puts some Skywings to shame with his agility. He does require a large amount of space to maneuver, but anything that he could slip through with his body and joints (about 20 feet) he can flatten, turn sideways, go inverted, or plummet straight through with wings folded back at full speed no hesitation. Once he gets going fast enough, he can continue at speed until something causes his path to change, and he has been clocked at over 300kph (almost 190mph) for short periods. He requires a lot of energy to do this, but that energy can come in the form of a power plant, lightning strike, or plain old mountains of meat, and he does have to rest up after feeding to make sure that he's light weight and has processed it all. He is absolutely a combat-worthy dragon, and is eager to prove that.
Communication, though he tends toward 'silent rather than quiet', Barrage speaks both Draconic and English, with bits of other languages he's heard thrown in though not particularly good at any real communication with those. He understands what's said to him, clearly, he's no intellectual slouch. But he's much more concerned about pertinent information, rather than gossip or fluff conversations. He and Yong have a very strong Vortal bond, as well as an incredibly good working relationship but he doesn't have any further telepathic ability. However, know that if he decides to use his Outside Voice, he is able to produce a roar that is as strong as a thunder-clap, and will deafen anyone that's unprepared. Thankfully his own bond is immune to this effect, but they're the only one...
Electrical Power, since he is a Thunder-Crack Scale, his body, wings, tail, and spines emit static as well as straight up electrical current from his spines on back and chest. He can focus this into a massive ball of lightning and energy, so if he's up against a large enemy (like, a Combine Gunship) he can simply latch on to it, power up, and overload it with that electrical charge. This will exhaust him, depending on the scale of damage required, but afterwards it's honestly the only time that normal people can approach him without being shocked by his field of energy. He has the power to breathe a blast of electric energy, though this power isn't nearly as accurate as you'd want it to be - whatever it is has to be able to channel electricity, so if there's something near by that does it better, that will get hit instead.
Tempest Jaw / Vision, his breed has extremely strong jaws, and can clamp down on something with ferocity, breaking even very large bones or strong materials with his grip. He can see in low-light environments, though tends to rely on this only during night fights or extremely stormy weather when the lighting isn't particularly stable or good.
Parentage: Unknown TempestWings, unrelated to any in the Rookery ... so far. There are a few who have expressed quite a bit of interest in this dragon, so now it's likely a matter of time whether they pair up.

Other Info: Though he is a touch on the aloof side, Barrage is not arrogant. He earns his accolades, and practices diligently to make sure he's at the top of his game. He truly enjoys challenging other dragons to feats of speed, agility, and complex maneuvering - but he also likes making sure that they know he's not the enemy. It's good natured competition to him, rather than forcing his will over anyone. If another dragon bests his time, he will certainly congratulate them, and try to do better when next they meet! |
