Dominique Talshoy
Started out on an unnamed earth-like world (as mentioned below) colonized by humans some 500 years before her birth. Character originally created from a dream in November of 1988 that I'd hoped to expand to a comic style series but absolutely did not have either the talent nor the energy to produce
She diverges from that universe pretty quickly on reaching Pern somehow... And then winds up at Carramba High after bonding a dragon at Gallimim Weyr in 2000
Her Song is "The Box (first and second movements)" by Orbital, InSides Height: over 6' particularly with the mohawk
Build: muscular and toned
Skin: darkly tanned with a single prominent scar down her neck and collarbone
Hair: brown-black, usually shaved though now it grows without sides, a 2" wide strip of thick hair standing straight up in a bold mohawk that is longer at the front and by her neck, and shorter at the back but still bristly like crazy
Eyes: light amber brown and fairly small, though that might just be the lack of hair framing her face
Description: all that stuff she's wearing is either leather or heavy canvas, even the arms; she is unconventionally attractive, and tends to bring in a lot of 'step on me' types until she actually steps on them which hurts a lot you dumb assholes so stop asking people to do that it's not cool okay? Her voice is slightly broken but can be very loud, though she prefers to keep her tone in check with the students
Had been in a relationship back at home but that ended when she left that world. However, over time she's certainly had flings and romance with a fair few instructors or staff at Carramba. Notably when the Rookery begins recruiting or looking for aid with their dragonry and training, she hooks up with the Nachos California variant of Keenan Lane. Now - this is remarkable because that body Nachos has is not, until that point, separated from Keenan's actual self. They diverged and are now actively two people, and Nachos... has two kids with Dom. Born first and several years before her brother, Vickie Talshoy-Vahh makes both mom and dad proud. Born considerably later but somehow attending 'recent' classes is her brother Aquilla Talshoy-Vahh who is both wilder and more eager to back the revolution as best he can. |
I was wandering around trying to find out why everything was all jungly and natural. I mean, where I come from, everything is all built up. But for some reason when I woke up this morning, I wasn't there. I was somewhere called Pern.
Oh. Hi. My name is Dominique Talshoy. I'm a revolutionary. No really, I am. My world was colonized by Earth people about 500 years ago, and in that time we've had a lot of social strife happen. I'm there to keep something like peace, but now...
Now I don't know where in the world I'm going to be. I've heard of people disappearing, but I thought that was just the bad agents taking people away. This is different.
I walked up to this tall mountain side, it looked like an old volcano or something. Up at the top of it, I could see there were holes and stuff, like people had hollowed it all out. Down by the base, there was a large chiseled looking building, so I headed to it.
When I got there, people looked at me all strange. Of course, I thought, I'm not from here! I have my *hair* and stuff. Well, I wear it that way so people know I mean business. After all, not too many people can get their hair to stand up at 8 inches away from their head!
I looked around the place and people pretty much didn't bother me. I didn't much bother them. I don't want to know what their problem is, but they do have pretty cool clothes. Though I wouldn't wear a dress to save my life, the guys had some pretty neat pants and I think they pretty much liked my outfit more than the ladies did.
The place was called a Weyr. Where, I asked, and they said, WEYR. Not where. I just rolled my eyes and went around looking at things. Nobody really stopped me, in fact, lots of them actually told me about themselves and were pretty friendly. One of them told me that the Weyr's name was Gallimim, and that they'd just had a strange thing happen, but not too many people knew about it.
Some of the folks around had these little creatures, lizards with wings, which they called Fire Lizards. Neat! I thought I could use one of those, or maybe more... Then I heard about what it was that happened.
This strange, kind of familiar intense guy told me about AIVAS and their colonization and earth and everything. He seemed really up on things, and I traded stories of my own home world's plight. He looked at me with a gleam in his eye, and spoke of revolution and independance.
Independance. Now there's a thought! If my friends in the cell would only believe that we could hope to succeed in our HIGH QUEST for freedom, we could gain it from the scourge of our current administration. They subject the poor to horrid things, and since they're poor they can't afford to even have a place to live, a roof over their head. They aren't citizens if they can't live... I just shake my head and sneer. Some day, they'll have their own place to live and we'll just do things differently from Sandoza's regime.
One of the little flying things chittered and squawked and brought attention to itself, and I managed to follow it to a little sandy beach nearby. Amazingly, it didn't fly away when I tried shooing it. I thought it wanted to run me out of the Weyr, but instead, it had led me to a big mound in the sand.
It made little scooping motions.
"Dig? You want me to dig in the sand." I told it, and then shrugged. I didn't have anything better to do, since I wasn't at home...
Then, I found something. In the hot sand, there was a big egg! And I'm not talking about an egg like a narrow-ball game egg, (I suppose to earthers reading this it's a Football shaped egg) but this was one serious egg!
It was about 3 feet across! Wow! It was a strange color, actually a couple colors, it had a pale blue stripe around it and was white in the middle, and a reddish ruddy brown on the other end. Weird.
So I dug around it until it was easier to see, and piled the sand so that it wouldn't fall over.
Then, all of a sudden, the thing started to shake! I was amazed! And kind of scared too! What in the world would come out of this huge egg?!
Well, I was about to find out! Because this egg was shattering right down the middle!
Well, actually more like up the middle, from the bottom half. Like a cracked bell.
Even before I had the chance to help it out, or see what might be coming out, a big brown head emerged and trumpeted out! My ears rang!
I am Ringeth! I have come! We will fight, won't we? We will fight for freedom! I am glad you found me, no one else dug in the right place! I could feel them walking, but you found the spot!
I didn't want to tell the new guy that I'd been tipped off by a flying lizard.
Hmn, I thought, I didn't think they came in that color... Wow. Well, once the little guy was fed and slept a bit, we wanted to get a move on! Up the revolution! |
