Human-Dragon Shifter - Because his version of the so-called Old World of Pern had access to some unusual genetic samples, and possibly either mutations or 'magic' (likely just psionic power triggered by the radioactive and strange energies from their Red Star), at some point in their distant past, the population of riders (specifically) were engineered to be 'between' dragon and human. There are still full sized animal-intelligence dragons, which these hybrid shifters impress to, and also reasonably normal humans who do not have the capability of bonding. The technology to create new strains of rider-dragons has been lost, but they can breed true in any form - including dragon! Meaning, his offspring will all be shifters regardless of his partner's state: human, shifter or hybrid, dragon, they'll all produce kids that will become triform shifters at some point during 'puberty', which may be within 2 years if draconic, and up to 12 years in hybrid and human shape. He can breed with any draconic type, not just Pernese (and... it is possible that one of his ancestors did, too, because his mid-form is quite not-Pern looking innit?). He counts as a Brown ranked chaser. -- Monster Out - transforms into a hideous creature up to four times normal size at inopportune moments. Well, he can control the timing consciously now (he couldn't when he was younger). And as for 'hideous' oh don't say that he's still pretty in his dragon shape! However he can't fit into buildings, and has his own set of abilities in his draconic shape. These include the typically Pernese Winged Flight (quite fancy and strong in the air as both hybrid and dragon, obviously cannot fly in human shape), Teleportation (whoops is that how he got here to CHS?!, well he can also do quick localized teleportation for fighting their Thread, and is working on how to move back in time or - you know, something like that, maybe he can be the hero who retrieves that lost tech? Can teleport in all forms), Telepathy (he's strongest at close range as human, best with groups within about 200 meters as a hybrid, and can contact any sentient mind within 2 miles as a dragon), and Unassisted Firebreath (cannot do this as human, but as hybrid can spit out a small burst about what you'd get if you lit a can of hair spray, as dragon can snipe at 500 meters, use a blast at 100 meters, and spray a fan 25 meters wide at close range). -- Dragon Bonding - bred to be attached to dragons. But given the type that exist in their world, he is surprised by the intelligence and wit of the dragons from 'normal Pern' dimensions. He is more used to them being mere animals, though they are certainly skilled and easily trained there. It is highly likely that he can multi-bond, but whether his current dragon partner will allow it, who knows? Maybe if the correct dragon shows up on their weyr ledge? |

Knows Dragons Inside And Out Because Obviously +3 Even if his parents expected him to be 'more' of a rider or leader 'like his brother and sister', he is still plenty adept at self-care, and thus the care of dragons or even half-dragon kin. While he's not necessarily up to the task of becoming a dragon healer or a geneticist, he can help identify issues, and is strong enough to assist as an orderly in a combative situation with a big and strong patient. He also knows how to spot weak points in a dragon's flight, or their habits while on teams, and either will help bolster the weak points or exploit them depending on whether this is a competitor or ally. He also is quite good with tack and physical gear for human or hybrids who actually ride their bonds, because their dragons aren't sapient they still sometimes require harnesses and head gear, this translates to other breeds pretty easily, and to other uses such as large scale carrying or emergency lifts |

Drama! +3 He loves poetry and high adventure tales, as well as all the media that might surround such story telling. He has a clear speaking voice and enjoys hamming it up - and knows when to ham, and when to Hamlet. He's not afraid or ashamed to pick up a minor role or pose as the 'enemy dragon' from which the prince must be rescued by his beloved knight, he thinks those stories are hilarious unlike many other dragon types... Because he is a shifter he is quite capable of playing different roles during different acts in stage plays! I'll Bet On That +3 He is aware of odds and numbers, mainly for gambling purposes. He will enter a casual bet in the halls, and is always good for his side of the deal. He isn't stupid, he knows when not to bet, and when to stop, and will encourage others to remember when to do those things too. Even if he loves to gamble, he doesn't have an addict personality flaw, and is willing to help out if he notices a problem for someone else You Wanna Race? How About A Chase? +3 Even if he's not the team leader, he loves to participate in sports and activities when he's able. Though he actually won't choose a sport event over a good stage presentation to participate, he is still always with the team when there are no scheduling conflicts. His favored dragon sports involve a lot of dodging, zooming sprints, and most of all those that allow him to shapeshift - hide and seek with a hybrid shifter is something else! And no it's not considered cheating, since it's a natural ability! |

Others Enjoy His Company For Good Reason +3 He's genial and accepting, also he's a hottie and just seems to have a way with people that puts them at ease even if he's in his mid-form. He's always quoting plays or literature which seems odd to some, because... well, he's definitely not the brightest crayon in the shed. He's not a complete dummy, he knows if people are going to be insulting, and shrugs it off - but he equally changes that into a defensive push if it's someone else being bullied or belittled. He is a quintessential Brown Dragon and Rider all in one! Will Bring Your Homework If You're Sick +2 If he is truly enamored of someone, male or female, kin or human, he'll go out of his way to make sure that they're safe, happy, and even pampered if he can manage it. And if they'll let him - he's not an idiot, he knows all the signs of being inappropriate, and knows boundaries because all of his have been interrupted or violated before, and that sucks! But he'll grab books from the library or bring hot soup when you're cold (or maybe bring cold soup and heat it up because if he has to teleport to do it it'll go cold...), though he won't be pushed or ordered around, he's not a door mat, he is a friend! Will Never Impress His Family So Why Bother? +/- 2 He'll hang out with nerds and goths and jocks and drama kids alike, not one of them would pass muster with his folks. Their expectations of their family are, in his mind, wildly out of proportion. I mean, they're not weyrleaders or even wing leaders they're just seconds and assistants. ... Okay his sister will definitely be the Queen she deserves to be, and his brother is 'all that' and a bag of chips, but like, he's a brown. Let him be a brown. And as one, he excells. |
