Name: Turvan Ai'lee

Age: 35 in 3 ABY

Species: Bothan, possibly with mixed heritage as they aren't known to have full tails

Family: formerly noble and high ranking, they were killed when she was young which led to her being captured and enslaved; she has had children but all were split up to prevent any escapes or attachments

Profession: once had been set up to assist her clan's diplomatic department, and as such she had been given extensive language training, she speaks basic, Bothan, Ewok, Gamorrean, Hutt, Jawa (Trade), Mon Calamari, Ryl, and a scattering of others found along the way later. Most of those and several others she can read and write fluently enough to translate on the fly. She is inherently persuasive and even as a child had an air of professionality about her, and has always been good with understanding people, their motivations, politics, business and trade, and the like. Even if the slavers that took her didn't realize it, she learned much about their syndicate just by listening half-asleep in a cage, and can bluff her way through an argument without forgetting who said what lie. However once she was 'left to rot' by that syndicate (as too much of a risk) on a backwater planet, she quickly learned that politics and business acumen wouldn't put meat in her belly, and has had to make due with primative weapons and scavenging for at least a decade. She is not happy with that arrangement, but is still adept enough that she could pick up a blaster, vibroknife, simple bow and arrows, or just use her claws to make sure she's safe

Origin: Bothawui (Legends-version only)

Current Whereabouts: picked up by Karen and several dragons, and is currently attempting to adjust to life on Ketvaozh

Height/Build: 6'2" / extremely muscular from a decade of self-reliant survival in the wilderness, she is literally all muscle with a sleek coat of fur

Appearance: imposing and she knows it, has slightly mottled beige fur with orange and grey tones, with darker brown-grey and brown on legs and feet, tail tip is brighter golden beige like her mane, ears are also darker brown-red; eyes yellow-gold. While hunting or out exploring, she wears as shown a set of leather gear which she made herself, or at least she pulled parts off creatures and people herself... But she would much prefer to have more formal wear, though she won't bother with shoes any longer. She keeps her fur free from parasites and resents anyone commenting otherwise. She has a deep rumbling voice, and yes she does absolutely have large fangs to display if needed

Brought to the hidden Force-protected planet of Ketvaozh after having effectively been 'searched' by one or more of Karen's dragons, she set up in a pleasant offshoot from the main starport township. Still somewhat unused to people after a decade out in the wilds, but she knows she can also serve as both diplomat and protector for the kids that come here hidden away from the Empire.

As with several others, Karen carefully watched her and decided when and where to spring the idea that she was appropriate for a dragon. They went first to the world she calls 'Twoarth', where Turvan realized she might even fit in if not for the rather fierce nature of her past - there were lion folk? And many other furs, much different from the people she was used to - but all here on this planet. She's ... seriously considered going back to see if any of those lion kin or perhaps some on that other world, 'Planet Twenty', might be interested in starting a family or even a dynasty with her.

That will be later - for now she's come home with a young dragoness named Prairie!

They had visited Twoarth several times, now. The place was bustling, and she'd finally grown to remember how much she loved the feel of all of these bodies and smells and voices around her. Prairie would keep watch from one of the many dragon roost stations scattered around, wasn't that amazing? This time it was for an interview, would they take her as an instructor? She wouldn't be there full time, but she would certainly have access to teleporters and all of that amazing technology and Force-magic to get there at all.

Prairie sensed her turbulent thoughts, and aimed what felt like a warm hug at her from afar. She didn't need words or telepathy or even a comm link to know that the confidence was there, just concentrate on it.

And almost just like that, the meeting she'd gone to with Dean Luger and several experienced members of the C4 and Carramba staff was more 'how many classes do you want to handle' and 'did you need local housing'. Her unease at how they might feel about her past was something they actively commented on, since coming through such trauma was not only 'more common around here than you think' and 'why it's best for the students to learn from you'. They would benefit from seeing someone with the confidence and skill, who also could relate when there were orphans, war-torn refugees, and the like in her classes. And particularly since there were plenty of students from the Far Galaxy...

So she and Prairie went around town to tour the housing units, and decided that since she was a dragon-rider and needed dragon-space, the on-campus housing would suit best. Closer to the portals to the vast array of worlds they could visit, too!

Closer to the students. So many of them!

When one of those students wandered by with what looked to be a pet, Turvan spotted another one following with a little hesitation. That second one wasn't attached to the girl, but it did seem to be chatting with the other critter. The silvery grey one spotted Turvan, flicked its tufted tail, butted its brother's head with its own, and came trotting right up to the Bothan.

He plopped his butt down, tilted his head. "I knew there was a reason I was here today!" he said, chipper but carefully worded. "Did you ... need a...nother friend?" He seemed to know that there was also a dragon somewhere around campus that called her 'theirs'.

Turvan realized what this little fluffy critter was saying, and gave a purring smile (close-mouthed... because fangs are scary to most breeds). "I - we - certainly could! Come meet Prairie. You'll love it back home too, I think."

Thus Aiyesul became part of their little crew!

Powers

Not necessarily powers as much as innate physical prowess, her species is exceptional at both physical intimidation with their natural weaponry and size, and their keen intelligence and cultural posturing. Though this posturing has left their species somewhat behind the curve in their home Galaxy it is something that Turvan understands from all sides now

Natural Linguist - Turvan herself is brilliant with languages and cultural observation, giving the skills below an innate +4(!). She knows that not everyone understands even their own native tongue sometimes, and encourages kids to learn other terms where they can, to flesh out their experiences

Clusters Cultural Awareness +7 with experience and observation, Turvan is keenly aware of how people in groups work. Their histories become more obvious as she passes through them, listening to stories and even how their curse words and epithets sound to foreign ears. She puts this skill to very good use now with the variety of kids needing to understand their place on any world
Skills

Languages Written and Spoken +6 Though she is primarily a Standard/English and Bothan speaker she is adept with picking up more than enough to be conversational within a couple weeks of exposure. She will lapse into other languages with frequency, but that just makes the kids wonder 'what did she say, can someone translate that?' and she approves. She doesn't always approve of the grafitti that appears in some of those newly-learned languages...

Noble Causes and Legal Rights +5 Every culture comes with strings attached. The key is to trace those strings back to their holders... She has concentrated some amount of effort on remaining apart from many cultural clashes until she knows who actually does have the real advantage or the right cause. As a diplomat or a negotiator she serves the ones that seem to have more of a need for fairness, and though it's not always going to end the way she wants, she always puts in the effort

Survival Skills +3 Though needing to use these less often, and never really preferring it to having a nice sit-down dinner with friends. This in conjunction with the next skill provide a good basis for at least one class...

Gambling and Carrousing +3 yes this is a skill. There's a time and a place for it, though! Her Underworld Influences heavy course for instance... she can recognize when a student has had to fight for their food, or scrounge for a place to sleep. How they behave around authority figures or when presented with odds that are not in their favor, and even things like their mismatched clothing, she understands from the inside, how that all comes together. But it doesn't have to end that way, kids...
Knacks Always the Right Place, Always the Right Time? +3 though she's not remarkably 'lucky', Turvan has certainly been exactly where she needs to be quite frequently. Things will happen, and, Force-willing, they happen for a reason. She's learned to roll with this and just take every day as it comes

Dragon Name: Prairie
Gender: Female
Size: adult medium (large build) 11' s / 66' l / 70' ws
Build: chonkier than most sandwings
Physical Features: Pure Sandwing, youthful appearance with larger head than an adult would have, and more paw-like feet than typical, also has double spinal ridges framing her dorsal fin from head to tail; no elbow strut on wings (possibly there just not visible as a finger)
Colors: belly armor slightly reddish tan with pale fade; body is dusty pale brown slightly darker at wing fingers, markings in pale golden caramel in jagged tribal-stripes that cover all four feet and tail end, feet and tail have lighter cream fade, also present in inset scales; undersides of wings reddish cream through pale golden, with overlay of leopard-spots in faded tan-cream producing a very metallic look; horns, claws, spinal ridges darker brown, dorsal fin creamy brown fade; eyes brilliant copper
Stats: Strength 3, Speed 2, Endurance 2, Agility 4, Health 2, Intelligence 5
Abilities: Winged Flight, Prarie is a good flier though not for long distances, preferring the warmth over many of the world's vast grasslands where she also blends in beautifully on the ground; she is large and can certainly lift enough to be useful, but takes short rests and is quite gentle with whatever or whoever she is lifting
Communication, she is a terrific public speaker, and enjoys learning more and more from Turvan about this galaxy she's in now. She isn't going to just walk up to anyone and start chatting, but she certainly could do so, as she gains more language skills and diplomatic training from her rider. To people she does know, Prairie is very gregarious and likes to hear about big rescues and adventures, and may eventually start retelling those tales to the younglings with gusto
Heat Tolerance and Preference, as a Sandwing she's well suited to a warm dry environment, which quite well describes a lot of Ketvaozh. She knows there are wetlands and frozen peaks alike, and can see them from their savannah home, but tends to remain where her body temperature isn't radically affected and her scales don't get too moist
Fire Breath, though she will only use this in emergencies, her fire breath is remarkably hot, though she will remain high in the air while using it so she doesn't set their home on fire. She keeps her breath to a wide, somewhat short fan around 50 meters across and 20 to 30 meters deep, a narrow slice that will absolutely fry anything that passes through it even vertically; she also is quite warm to rest beside, and that's nice for camping trips and keeping the younglings from getting too cold on their journeys
Venom Stinger, tucked inside that tuft at the end of her tail is a strong, thick stinger. She does have venom but rather like her sire's it's kind of weak, and as such she could definitely use it as a club rather than to stick it through enemies; she will catch and kill prey with her paws and teeth rather than use this, reserving it as a last resort should something come too close to use fire on
Parents: Uriell's Buffet and Adam's Roast both from the Rookery (via their Twoarth connection at Carramba)
Origin: adopted from Synth with Honeybeest lines on Deviantart, WoF by Tui Sutherland
Bond: Turvan Ai'lee; this is a genuine bond, as many of the Rookery dragons, even if they were originally from species which didn't form tight mental or vortal connections, she enjoys a weak sort of telepathy and empathy with Turvan and can home in on her when they're apart, up to about 100 miles away
Meeting Notes: Relying on the weird travel between dimensions, and trusting this Karen person to bring them back to the right place and time, Turvan and several others collected at Ketvaozh have found friends that they never even dreamed possible. Prairie is an ideally suited companion to Turvan, as she is smart and witty, observant, and also easily able to track and hunt in the wilderness... just like Turvan! She has a strong protective streak for younglings, and Turvan has adopted this ideal as well - she may miss her own children and wants to make sure that these young force-sensitive refugees they tend are safe and sound as well as thoroughly entertained
