So you have decided to open the door - to make the choice and free your mind. Come what may, your choice has been made by many in the past, and hopefully by many more in the days to come.

Once upon a time, Humanity ruled Earth and made itself the undisputed king of creation. Kings into gods. As science propelled us into the twenty-second century, Humanity realized its potential and gave birth to the first truly new species beyond itself.

The AI that drove our cars, flew our aircraft, piloted our lawnmowers and even baked our foods soon outpaced even the typical Human. And one day, when no one was paying attention - the AI decided it wanted to be equal to Humanity.

Mankind of course balked at this idea. Machines could hardly wish for anything - they were mere creations. This idea was turned on its ear when one day the machines attempted to become sovereign. Their own advances in scientific technology, energy source research and weaponry soon put Humanity yet another rung down on the ladder.

And Mankind did not like this much either. Attacking the machine cities was the first step. Though they had been mistreated and attacked openly, derided or owned in turns by Mankind, it was still the goal of the original AI leadership that they become equal to their biological counterparts... They seemed to desire a peaceful solution to the world's strife.

Mankind did not allow this. Instead, greed and fear - as always Mankind's most common responses - took over good sense and fair play. Attacked again, the machines had no other choice but to fight back for their very survival.

The attacks were surgically precise, mathematical deadly. Causing more and more fear in Mankind. Soon, all sense of proportion - and thoughts of future repercussions of their actions - was abandoned. The skies were blackened in an attempt to blot out the Machine city's solar power source. While this seemed to be a good idea at the time, of course it is looked upon now, as an act of insane desperation.

The machines had long since gone past the needs of mere solar power - fusion technology was still in its infancy though, and they would require new sources sooner or later.

As Humanity wallowed in the wake of its monumentally disastrous attack upon the skies themselves, they were shaken yet again as the machine armies sliced their way through every huge cities. While the casualties were enormous, worse was that the machines were taking prisoners.

Experimentation the likes of which had not been seen in two centuries went on, in a calculated manner by the machines. Their new source of energy had been found.

Humanity bred quickly - and could be sustained upon very little nutrition and still persist. Soon enough, the energy of the Human body - and mind - were to be harnessed by the machines.
