So You Want to Bond a Dragon!

It was the smash hit several seasons in a row, and was starting to spin off in other cities. After all, there were only so many dragons that Talon City could really support. Grace and Kimball continued to scout around, though, for dragons that would be appropriate to bring on stage or have as the stars of other shows.

They certainly found a good place to look, when they were told of the Falas Shimmer Frenzy! Dozens of beautiful and colorful hatchlings tumbled from their shells, and the pair's own bond dragons almost seemed a little jealous. But the red and the cream Ryslen dragons felt almost as proud to sponsor the beautiful and dashing Laesperath. He was dark, rainbow tint under an obsidian sheen. And he knew he was lovely, too.

However, that wasn't it for the pair and their adventures here. Far from it. They decided to stick around longer and help feed and raise the Danachian while still at Falas. They'd noticed a few others doing so as well, so they took their cue as all good actors did, and stayed put.

It was well worth their time, for when the second part of the hatching occurred some weeks later, they were greeted by the happy, energetic blue Kesheth, who asked if he could perform for them. Grace laughed. "No, no, Kesheth. I think you should eat before you try to impress us with anything!" The hatchling pouted but followed them off the sands.

By the time they had all gotten fed, rested, cleaned up and re-oriented toward Talon, Grace and Kimball knew they had something even better than the endless stream of 'want to be' shows. They would have a sitcom - it was unfolding right there.

"I realize that you are young....er than myself, and lack a certain discipline," Laesperath said in his almost-British voice, "but must you continue to slobber all over the dish? It's gone, you've eaten it all."

Nah, it's good! See, there's a tiny bit left! Want some? The blue thought broadly - he was good at bespeaking to everyone within 'ear' shot.

"Oh, no, no," Laesperath said, holding his head up. "No thank you."

The blue, while indeed younger, was going to be much bigger than the rainbow-black, and clearly was of a very different set of expectations. Grace and Kimball looked at one another, back at their own dragons, and back to the pair of oblivious-and-haughty.

"Odd Couple!" They said in unison, and decided to pitch that concept the moment they could corner Engell.
