It was hardly a surprise that the Vahh representitive approached Idjem, given that several of her contracted Bonds had found their way to their facility and been paid off rather quickly. They had several dragons with them, and several others that were rather not like the ones she'd experienced before. Almost Sky dragon, with a touch of Forest, too many wings, or a strangely compelling mental aura that made her wonder, what were they really? "I take it this is not merely a business call," Idjem said, hissing slightly thanks to her strangely shaped tongue. But then - she'd noticed Vahh himself often enough hissed his own 's' sounds in meetings when he was displeased, so at least they had that in common. "It is... both, business as well as a more... personal venture." Kallah Vahh himself was among the group, but Idjem did note the Membayar with their eternal paperwork and the attendant strapping bodyguard from that one afternoon's contract signing. "We have noticed your work with the dragons," he nodded toward the team of a younger Dragon Master and his pair of Desert types, wrangling them toward a designated hunting spot on her Hold. When one of the much larger Sky types creeled overhead, a few of the lawyers jumped nearly out of their skins, but Vahh himself merely blinked and cast his gaze upward to watch it fly. He then sought out the Master that was working with the dragon - something that Idjem immediately noted. Was this so-normal-looking man a dragon master, himself? "We have a number of ... connections, to off-world sources for new blood," he said, straight to the point and notably clear and loud enough for her to hear easily; while his attendants were conversing about how loud the dragon was up close like that. "I suspect you would be ideal for such a venture, given your... focal points." He very pointedly looked at one of the larger feather-winged Forest dragons, that specific one was dark and sleek and somewhat more bold than his nest mates. For all the world it looked like Kallah Vahh was talking to it? He gave a small gesture to one of the attendants and they opened their briefcase, he took from it a data pad and a folder (bearing a contract, of course, what Atasan would be complete without a pile of unsigned contracts?) and showed her images. Data scrolled along the side bar, sizes, types, requirements. "I've never seen things like this here, breeding Forests to Deserts is difficult at best." Idjem said. "I know, you've recorded your attempts," he smirked very slightly, which took her off guard. "Since your desert holdings are well suited to snake-like dragons, and those," he nodded toward the Forest, "I can offer you a... trip, to collect certain hatchlings of this type." While she wanted to leap at this opportunity, she held back a bit and said, "what's the trade you want in return, Atasan?" At that, the other Membayar dug around in her own case, and presented Vahh with a second packet. A lengthy agreement, but one which he summed up truthfully: "A breeding contract, both for the Forest dragons, as well as yourself, if you are willing." He paused, as she considered this. "Obviously I would not be the one working that specific contract, but as my Peridian is operating under our agency she has authorized me to seek you out. She's... busy with things, but you certainly are fit for her needs. As well, the dragons," he glanced back at that raven-dark dragon, "suit mine. And unlike some of our... competitors," he sharpened his tone there, "the only 'hidden' part of the agreement will become very obvious should you accept the terms." "And if I didn't accept?" It was entirely unsurprising to her when he said, "you wouldn't remember this meeting, nor any of that," he nodded toward the data pad she still held. She signed on and within a few days would be in possession of a set of young ... noodle-like dangerous little creatures. Their minds snapped at hers, they were aggressive but she found it easier to control them than the Desert dragons. They shared superficial similarities - their sting tails, snake-like heads - but also quite a few differences, including the fact that they regularly might grow large feathered wings or fan-like tails of plumes that helped disguise their stingers. And, they were much, much smarter. On par at least with the Forest dragons, and she was certainly trying to breed toward a keenly intelligent Forest type. That would be much easier, now, with this contract to the Vahh clan: they had ravens, shockfeathers, and indeed people who were both... And those intriguing males who the Peridian Maalysah introduced her to? This would certainly be profitable for everyone! And very, very dangerous to any alien that happened to land anywhere near the desert Holdings! The dragons, or Beasts apparently, were all significantly smaller than the Forest dragons, though uniformly bigger than their Desert companions. Sometimes they would snip at each other, and she did lose an entire nest of Deserts to them deciding to feast on the 'fresh meat'... But that was fine. There would certainly be more Deserts as well as plentiful prey to distract these hungry Beasts from actually fighting each other or the rest of the local dragons. |
