Coda Coda sighed. There was a Kin guy, a cheetah, who seemed really keen on gazing at her. She liked the attention, really. But what was more important than him, was that the eggs were hatching at Vella Crean and they were both candidates. "We'd better go," she said to Qodara and they went down to the sands. Two females had shared the space of the sands, which was becoming more or less usual around the Nexus places that she'd read about. It wasn't much of a surprise to her that Qodara bonded first. He was pretty cool. The red that paired up with him looked a little weak in the knees when he bonded, but they were congratulated and Coda applauded just like everyone else. The other red that hatched along side Qodara's bonded to a woman, and then a green hatched out, followed by a brown. They made their way around to a pair of aliens. What were aliens doing at a dragon hatching? Coda didn't know. Didn't want to know, didn't ask. But they paired up with both green and brown, sure enough. <-Back to Search, Back to Coda's page |
How weird was that? A violet and brown both hatched, and then the violet one bonded to a tiny fairy. The creature was small enough to easily ride the hatchling dragon now, but when she grew up? What then? The brown that hatched with her then went to his chosen. They bonded, and suddenly two more eggs cracked open. A blue very light, and a blue paler than ice came out. They paired up and then a third blue showed up in the mix of candidates. He too bonded. Then ... A nagging sensation in the telepathic cat's mind bled out and was duplicated by a sound from one hatchling. "KIIITTTYYY!" she bellowed. She was a lithe female bronze, bigger than most of the hatchlings so far. She launched into the air, and landed in the waiting arms of Coda. "Why is the sky blue? What is the sky? Does it look like them? They're blue!" She said at full speed. "Yaoith," Coda said, trying to be serious because well, this was supposed to be a serious occasion. But then as the questions continued Yaoith also started rubbing up like a kitten against Coda's shoulder. "Um... Help?" She asked, but was ignored in favor of the next hatchling choosing its bond. *** It was a good thing that Yaoith didn't continue her parade of silly childish activities. She wanted to mature, but she wanted to show off too. "Look at my crest! See how pretty it is?" She nudged at Coda, bumping her arm while she was writing down some transcription from class. "... Yaoith," Coda warned, "I can see your crest every moment I look at you - which is most of the time - but right now, I have to start this piece over again because I messed up the paper." Yaoith's eyes widened and then her head drooped. I am so sorry. You are ashamed of me. I am a klutz. "I never said that," Coda announced with a scratching finger under the dragon's chin. "I just need you to be patient while I'm doing my work. Okay?" "Okay." She said. *** The big bronze female wanted to nudge her rider awake. There was something important going on. "Pssst!" Yaoith hissed, "psssssst!" "What!? What!?" Coda roused and then tossed the covers off her bed. "What is it?" Taken aback, Yaoith stumbled backwards and bumped into the stone wall of their den. "It... well, it's not all that important," Yaoith said, "but, well, I thought you should know that Qodara is going home today." "We all might go home today, Yaoith," Coda deflated, "why did you bring that up?" "Because I think he wants us to come with him. To see where he and his Kin live." At that, Coda tilted her ears and perked up. "... Really." "Really. And I think your sisters will be invited too." With a big grin, Coda went to hug her dragon. Of course, her arms didn't even go around her neck any more, the dragoness was so big. "Thanks sweet, I think I'll go see if he's serious." She went out of the den, down the hall. Yaoith grinned to herself and thought to red Quedath. Well I think that'll do it. She got a confirmation back that indeed, Coda arrived and they were talking about how best to exchange landing information. |
