Skills and Profession: raised among alchemists, scientists, herbalists, and healers, adalbert's aunt taught him much about her own profession while she was babysitting him: tailoring, the source of his family name after all. Her sister, Adalbert's mother, proudly uses her own skill with needles to stitch wounds, rather than cloth. Adalbert learned as much as he could and still absorbs knowledge like a sponge, be it a new language or a hobby level of crafting; he loves the travel the True Star does, and at almost every port stop he's out and about looking for new items to bring back to his surgery. |

Personality: Energetic but sensible, he's eager to make sure everyone can do their job and enjoy their life. Like most of the Barony he loves to serve others as a gracious host, and this extends to his medical practice as well. He cannot possibly turn down even a small injury but practicality says if your splinter will come out if you chew it, please do, there's more pressing matters on a ship...
Possessions: As a ship's doctor he treats a lot of blisters and salt creep, and has plenty of salves, lotions, bandages, and the like to make sure that the minor issues are easily taken care of. But he does also have his own whole surgery room in the ship, it's not big but can help him treat major injuries or sequester the sick. Now that they also have a 'home' port in the Grotto, with dragons hidden from the local's sight, he has begun making plans for a true hospital, and knows that there will be both students and staff ready for training and duties once it's built.
History: his family are slightly less gregarious than most Grape Barons, though no less diligent and thorough. Adalbert learned more than one language from his youth, and hasn't stopped learning them now. While they aren't using much in the way of actual magic, it's been said that his father's line has some form of healing magic or perhaps natural psionics that boosted them into the field. He decided after the True Star docked at a port he was visiting, that perhaps the crew could use his skills, and he has never looked back. Now that he has been befriended by a dragon, things have gotten a touch complicated. But he carefully avoids talking about such things whenever he's meeting with family or friends from his youth, and knows that the Grotto will be safe from prying eyes for at least a while. |

"I understand that you want to fly with us while we're out," Adalbert softly reminded the dragon, "but it's important that we not be found." The dragonet's grumble was audible to everyone at the dock, and Adalbert suggested that Zadikior follow the other young dragons into their new island home, to distract himself. "We'll be back within a fortnight, but there are supplies that Gelgela needs and we're the right ones for the job." The emerald dragonet from their group hatching zipped away, and, curious, Zadikior did indeed follow her with interest. ** She made this as a castle to defend, and I am going to defend it! Zadikior proclaimed, when the bulk of the trees were in their rough form. The emerald dragoness kept herself quite busy doing this, but Zad certainly enjoyed watching her work, and would add suggestions for the area. A little chute here to slip more easily out from the bottom into the bay below, balconies for the flightier dragons to exit from. Yes, it was definitely a castle and he was quite happy with it all! Now that he didn't have to wonder what to do with himself on being left at home while the True Star was out and about, Zad patrolled and even alerted some of the others to a passing ship so they could slip back into their clever hiding places! |
