Name: Sister Temperance (Temperance Arturo)

Gender/Preference: Female, she/her, ace but only because the Abbey demands it, eventually she will be interested in some more... unusual partners

Age/DOB: 16/born 2nd day, Month of Seeds, 1846

Faction: ostensibly Abbey, and is still 'faithful' but knows better than to think the Abbey itself is meaningful any longer

Family: unknown, deceased

Height/Build: 5'9" / strong build

Hair: bronze brown, when not confined by the Abbey's required head wrap it is shoulder length and slightly wild

Eyes: black, surprsingly dark brown that appear suspiciously heretical but those who took her from her family know that they're natural

Appearance: very pale skin, adding to the belief of some in the order that she is essentially heretical stock, her stark white skin and black eyes do certainly create a mystical look. She wears the white and slate-grey bodysuit common to the order's Sisters, but she is also encouraged to wear a porcelain white mask to 'distract from her physical presence - in other words, she's extremely pretty and the men among the Overseers must not be tempted...

Note: all CHS stats are found on this page but she does attend

"She would speak the truth to the High Overseer, if only he would entertain respect toward the women in the Abbey."

Skills and Occupation: She suspects that her family had been in the business of either tailoring or cloth making, she faintly remembers the sounds of looms and machinery to knit cloth bolts. And, she has a penchant for knowing just the right outfit to put together even if she's only ever been allowed to wear the Abbey's gear. However most of her conscious training has been in service of the Abbey. Rooting out 'evil', knowing when a magic trinket is present, even when it's not, interrogation, and the use of her mace and blindfolded fighting techniques. She was never quite trusted enough to be allowed to sit in on the proper Sisters meetings where they determined rulings or saw visions, but she saw them none the less - and made her own mind up about their contents. She has practiced her meditiation and extending her feeling of magical power much farther than she had while pressed up against the wall to the visionary chamber... And since her arrival and education on Twoarth has commenced, she's finally getting a grip on how to be a teenager, a girl with normal desires, some abnormal ones, and interests beyond merely reciting yet another quote to shut a peasant up about their problems...

Residence: On Twoarth, lives near the campus in an apartment with other students. This is actually a nicer arrangement than the barracks at the Abbey, since there are three students in two rather spacious rooms and a kitchenette and common room. On the World it would definitely be considered a luxury apartment. However she does have a rebuilt but only somewhat intact location now in Karnaca thanks to professor Valena's hints that some of the kids in the Abbey's organization were still just fine. She keeps her place tidy and as free from heresy as she can, given the other kids are also still sometimes a bit... rabid, about their beliefs here. ** Note that when Heresy the dragon comes to her side, they also decide to have a place back up in Yaro, and since the dragon's abilities can include 'carving an ice cavern into a home' that's just what they do!

Notable Possessions: as an Overseer or Oracular Sister (gain mask, fancy clothes, and a copy of the Strictures) she has access to good clothing, a roof over her head in the form of her Abbey dorm shared with however many others, and of course eventually she would be trained with the mace that the Oracular Sisters have. However she's also looking at new clothes and items, trinkets in fact (oh how the Abbey would hate to see how she's decorated her school locker), and isn't afraid of helping people out to get 'donated' things

Magical Preferences or Abilities: All of the Oracular Sisters are inherently magical but deny that their power of foresight or visions comes from the Void. They are hypocrites and fools, and she knows it. She cannot or will not use various magical items such as bonecharms, but has learned that there are 'good and bad' among the witches as well as general population, and more 'bad' among the Abbey than she'd originally understood. She will let pretty much any open magic use slide while on Twoarth, but will wait and see how it's in use on the World before making the call to put an end to it. She's not going to stop a witch from making potions and tonics that heal or prevent parasites, but will absolutely smack one that's casting thorns at civilians...

Powers

^Toughness - takes twice the amount of Meat/Bonk before face-planting, and is capable of recovering her energy and health very rapidly if given a moment or two to collect herself

Abbey Training and Gear - though she is only marginally connected to the Abbey of the Everyman while on Twoarth, if she's on the World she's expected to know how any of these things function and be confident in using them in the field. They are not inherent and can be taken from her physically

-- Music Box - this enables the powers Bonk Drain and Spoilsport collectively but only function versus magically empowered or Marked individuals. It does work on Twoarth or any other Nexus world which has magical energy in it. When cranked, it emits an uncomfortable noise and vibration to non-magical ears, but to those with the ablity to weild or detect magic, they are disrupted, pained, and powerless while within about 10 meters range. She herself seems to hate the noise it makes, particularly given there's way better music on Twoarth that doesn't then make half her friends collapse in tears and pain

-- Deflecting Mace - she's more than good enough with this weapon that she'd be a star hitter on any softball or baseball team! Her skill in it has been limited to sparring as they're not exactly encouraged to play games with it (or...play games at all) in the Abbey. Her hand-eye coordination is great, and her hitting strength enhanced perhaps due to the 'eye' on the end of this weapon (which is likely related to the Abbey's distant past and connection to the Eyeless or Envisioned, but let's not drag politics into this)

-- Detect Magic - As all Oracular Sisters of any age or expertise have been taken from families who are actually magically-endowed, Temperance is capable of feeling where magic has been done, sensing people who have magic or are inherently spellcasters, and single out items when they are made with or focus magical energies. She can do this at a range of about 20 meters, but easily also looks over a location like a grandstand full of students and can point out with good accuracy who might be a mage or witch without even being close enough. While any other Abbey soldier or seer would have immediately started beating on those individuals, or burning the heretical items... Obviously she is more curious than deadly in this regard, and can use her ability in a passive manner, not even judging the user before she knows them personally. Indeed she'd be eagerly expelled from the Abbey as a heretic herself if they knew she'd been letting people slide... which she does on the World as well if she's not carefully observed by her Sisters

-- Strictures Plaques - though these aren't really 'powers' they do serve as a focus for her meditation and daily routine. Even if she knows they're not followed by most of the higher-ups in the Abbey because they're a bunch of pervy old men, she still is willing to recite them to others should they express interest. Then again she's also willing to allow for debate about them, and has consistently accepted defeat when good arguments are presented against them. She's no fool. She and professor Valena have had lengthy afterschool talks about her involvement with both the Abbey and Carramba High, and she takes his words to heart about following or tempering the Strictures while at the school

Hidden/Unknown power: Favored By... Levi likes this one. She's pretty sure that prof Valena is protective of her but she doesn't realize that it's also the Outsider watching over her, and that moved her from the World to Twoarth.

Clusters

Far More Chill Than You Think +3 As an unflappable student and Oracular Sister, Temperance is among the most calm and most unfazed people you will ever meet. She's fully capable of being the one that keeps their cool during a hectic fire drill or simulated emergency event, and doesn't let anything remain panicky if she can help them calm down too. Maybe that means just holding their shoulder snugly, maybe it means bonking them over the head with her mace and knocking them out a spell... who knows. Conditional decision making is part of her 'thing'

Respects Those Who Offer Respect +2 Her quiet and careful gaze helps her assess who is actually in charge of a group, who might need to be reminded their place in it, and who to openly accuse of rule-breaking even if they are a very important person. Now, she can't do this back at the Abbey, as there are far too many of those to keep her safe from their guns and blows. But in wandering the World, sorting out who is who means the right people get saved and the bad ones get smacked. She loves having debates, when the opponent understands the value of admitting defeat

Skills

Hits What She Aims At +4 Not just because she has that staff that openly aids her in doing so, Temperance is not distracted by things easily, and can summon up her physical skill, her words, or just her incredibly sharp glare, and very few items, people, or events can withstand those things. Also in this vein, she is markedly difficult to hit with anything, as she's already seen that swing coming at her a mile away thanks, and yes she did know you'd use that specific falsified meme from the internet as a defense to her factual knowledge. Don't even bother.

Style and Texture +4 Probably stemming from her original family and their work, somehow she's always apt to have the right idea for an outfit or a decoration, and flaunts this when not in the presence of any Abbey people. Not for show but for the confidence that it can bring, she will help out her odd friends at school, offering a few words or looking up some information about textures and material composition, and helping to outfit them for their nights out on the town. She also loves the outfits they put on her, though she does still prefer pants over dresses, and likes playing with textures on heavy cloth or leathers, rather than laces and silks (also, it's really cold up in Yaro, so let's keep those nice comfy wool and furs!). Where do you add flair, when you also need to be similar enough to identify each other on a team? She knows!

Fine On Her Own, Great In Groups +3 Self-sufficiency is important when you're a member of a highly-trained organization like the Abbey, but they do rely very heavily on the strata of rank and authority. She's not great on authority that ignores the actual needs of the people they stomp on, but she loves cooperative efforts, and can offer a +2 overall bonus to any group that is actively trying to work together. This can include a team putting up sock-hop decorations in the dance hall, or that group of goth girls and guys that need to coordinate their makeup for the weekend so they don't all look just like they're rubber stamps

Knacks

Keeps To The Strictures But Remembers They Suck +4 A quip and quote for any occasion, though she's hardly a chatty sort. She has had people frozen in fear or maybe amazement when she rattles off some quote from the Overseers books or relates an anectdote from the Strictures that leave people wondering how her own culture made it this far

Keeps Trinkets According To The Stricture They Break +4 Never let it be said that Temperance is disorganized. All of the little doodads, jewelry or toys, books and gadgets that she collects both at CHS or in her Worldly home hidden away from the Abbey's eyes, are kept directly beside the gold-plated panel displaying what virtue she's forgetting in having them at all. In the Oracular Sisters' old dorms - disused now that they've been dismantled as an organization - she has the predictable weapon, folded clothing and blindfold, and is where she keeps the Music Box. But she then also snarkily will look on them with sarcasm and cynicism given how most of those Strictures were openly broken by their leadership

Dragon Care and Riding +1 She's very new to this, and honestly they stopped using horse-like creatures for riding on the World a long time ago. She is hardly apt to fall from Heresy's shoulders, but she still is a little wobbly in this regard. She has a good grasp of their care and upkeep, however, and listens to his requests with a book on his breed's expected milestones for health as a reminder that no you cannot have yet another barrel of jellied eels they are going to go right to your tail...

Pets She would love to have a hound, but they're sort of in short supply here on Twoarth aside from the bipedal types... Come to think of it there is that one hot hound Kin with the long nose...
Parents? Likely deceased, unknown and now can't find any information about them anyway due to the razing of the Abbey's records
Siblings? Unknown as above

Personality: an Open-minded disposition helps when you don't want to just exclude or hate everyone around you. Even as a teenager in the Oracular Sisterhood of the Abbey, she was seen as a little too weak in the Strictures governing ... well, allowing them to beat down anyone that disagreed with the Abbey. They would scold her that her 'ways' were too soft and would surely lead to disaster and the Void. Well okay boomer but the Void was where she gained her new life so there's that.

Likes and Dislikes: Having options is the way to go. Though that said, she also likes having some kind of background structure, a framework to hang those new ideas and see how they work or don't work. Her plan is to avoid the Abbey folks long enough to let them die out - they're all old as hell right? (they are like. in their thirties, Temperance, you're just a teenager.) She will certainly outlive most of the ones that continue to badger the city Guards all over the Isles, that's for sure.

Fears or Interruptions: She's pretty certain that through her connections at Carramba, particularly professor Valena, that the Empress herself knows that she's 'okay' and not one of those loonies that the Abbey has dissolved into being. Being pretty certain is not, however, an assurance, and she will keep her head down if she notices anything off...

History: Though she was born in Serkonos, she was taken from her family at a very young age and resided in the Oracular temple in Yaro, Tyvia for her upbringing and training in the Order. However it was during that era that the entirety of the Order began to falter, coinciding with Delila Copperspoon's coup in Dunwall, and the eventual release of the Outsider from his confinement in the Void, that she was gently moved into another world entirely. Rather than being hunted by the Imperial guard (which was wise on their part, since most of the Oracular Sisters had been thoroughly corrupted by Delilah's tainted magic), Leviathan - the Outsider himself - gently pulled her into the Void, and when she walked out it was into a strange, bright realm which she came to know as 'Twoarth'.

She spent around two years there, learning about so many new things. Her own qualms about 'heresy' were never quite as fervent as the others in the Order, her mind much more open to new ideas. That and she could enjoy simply being a teenager without all the baggage of the Order, dress up in skirts and even go to parties - the 'goths' in the school wanted to adopt her as their own, and she didn't exactly stop them.

Dragon

Name: Heresy
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: small 8'4" s / 34' l / 40' and 25' ws
Colors: body overall blue-violet on dorsal with very dark shine on face and forelimbs, tail spikes, and wing arms, belly from chin to tail spines and behind limbs dusty lavender darker on limbs; wingsails are brilliantly violet purple and lavender fades with sparkles of icy-white, and bright metallic gold markings; body has yellow-gold (non metallic) markings and contrast scales, with deep indigo stripes; neck and tail dorsal spikes bright gold, horns and claws darker gold; eyes lilac
Features: Hivewing Icewing hybrid, almost entirely fused with build and features, multiple wings, and sharp ice-cutting spines; coloration is highly unusual for either breed however
Powers: Winged Flight, Heresy is not remarkably fast but he is incredibly agile, able to hover in place or zip straight up or down, even backwards as long as he knows where he's going or there's space. He can lift a heavy amount, and thanks to not having the huge full complement of Icewing spikes on his spine, he can carry much of that on his back when wearing a special harness (that also allows under-belly storage but he prefers his belly be able to fold and move). If you hear a strange high-pitched ice-scratching, that's probably him in flight somewhere nearby
Verbal Speech, Heresy has a sharp, high pitched voice unlike many males, though it can occasionally be booming or resonant if he concentrates. He speaks primarily English and only knows very little Draconic, he is up for learning new things however, particularly while a student with his rider at CHS
Ice and Cold Adaptation, for a dragon that will likely return to Tyvia with his rider, this is ideal! He can claw his way through thick ice easily, and doesn't suffer at all in the chill winds of blizards or even icy waters. He is a good swimmer but prefers being dry
Tail Whip, rather than a single sharp stinger, the ends of his tail are more like porcupine quills in texture. You do not want that hitting you, they will grasp and rip deeply into flesh of any sort, and can all but 'grip' items that have a reasonably soft exterior. (So yes this means, that door you need ripped off its hinges, he'll take a swing with his tail and it'll often enough come with his tail when he leaves.) Thankfully this tail does not come with the incredibly powerful poison that some Hivewings have, nor the stabbing potential of an Icewing's spines
Possible Animus Power, Heresy can sometimes do things that aren't on the list of typical Pyrrhan or Pantalan dragons at all. Telekinesis to keep his rider and her gear stable on his back for instance, or what equates to a short-range teleportation bipping quickly away from danger instinctively. These powers aren't yet fully known, though they may come from both sides of his family - though Hivewings supposedly do not have animus magic, Icewings definitely do, and what he knows about Hivewing abilities seem to indicate that they all actually have a little of it, since few of their abilities run the same in any given dragon! He seeks to expand his abilities, but carefully and under good supervision, not wanting to draw too much more attention to where they are when they come back to Yaro. It's too warm down in Karnaca!
Parentage: Unknown, mother Hivewing, father Icewing, and probably Icewing's parents include a Night or Night-Ice hybrid. He is kind of intrigued by Shrine, Levi's dragon friend, given their colors seem very, very familiar... Are they a grandparent? Great-grandparent? Time does go by pretty oddly for the Outsider after all, between dimensions even more so.
Origin: adopted from and art by FrigidBanshee on Deviantart, with ronbenapping lines, WoF by Tui Sutherland
Other Info: Heresy knows his name is hilarious, but it's also accurate - to some in either of his lines, the presense of an animus would be ghastly. Thankfully he hasn't had to hide that from them, not even knowing who they are, and having moved from the nest to Twoarth without breaking shell...
