Name: Siren Mercer Gender: Female, Straight Age/DOB: ~16 / RY 10, aged Origin: Rookery Earth, Rapture Family: Mother Rhea Mercer, father Pan the Hippie; half-sisters Raven, Persephone, Pandora, half brothers Apollo and Kendrick Other: As if traveling through time, Siren is super keen on 60s trends and music. Thankfully 'uncle' Keenan seems to have a lot of hip tunes from that era at the Mansion! Also, Siren is spliced but was born normally. Height: 5'8" Weight: 135, though Icarus was used in her splicing it didn't reduce her weight overtly, however she's never going to be plump or flabby and is quite statuesque, muscular, and limber Hair: strongly metallic reddish brown, with a very heavy texture that curls in moist air (so... in Rapture she's got quite the challenge to keep any style), normally styled and kept short as shown Eyes: Strongly green with a hint of copper, careful and kind looking Appearance: light brown skin that tans into a brilliant copper-brown, full lips and full hips. Enjoys dressing snappy and clean, and isn't afraid to use those curves to throw a curveball if you know what I mean, tends to use hip and trendy language from prior eras and other dimensions Icarus Processing: Yes, while being spliced; note that this process has come a long way in the time that Melissa has had access to Raptures Plasmids, and between Mel and Rhea they've been doing amazing things with it; the processing improved Siren's flexibility a bit, she hardly ever strains or balks at reaching weird angles, and though she's not stronger nor faster than normal, she does heal incredibly rapidly (not superhumanly, but around 2.5x) and has never gotten even a sniffle. Physically however her senses have been improved radically, in particular her hearing and vibration senses; she can hear super-sonic and sub-sonic (her hearing range is around 5Hz to about 60kHz, which expands both ends of the normal human spectrum by more than half in either direction) and she can hear super-quiet sounds, provided they're nearby, at less than 1dB. Most of her senses work well at around 100 meters or less, but she can also perceive normal speech and other human-typical sounds at over 500 meters with ease, pinpointing a specific sound. |

Genetic Abilities: Because her parents eagerly allowed Melissa to work with the splicing of this child, her Vortal powers are clearly exploiting those found in Pan's DNA. Rhea is most certainly a Vortal battery, and Siren is proof of that, as Mel claims she hardly had to 'do' anything to get these results. Siren is a sonic controller, able to produce nearly any noise she's ever heard before, and she has heard some sounds! Thankfully her senses have come with experience in 'tuning out' what she doesn't need to focus on, though she's still apt to wince at sudden or unexpectly loud noises close by. Her voice can emulate virtually any human-range sound in terms of deicbels and frequency, but within that range she can literally hum an entire symphony at once. This is a Vortal power, and it does wear her out, but she's very good at it and has made sure to listen to all of Daddio-Keenan's collection at least once. She also has a tremendous memory for these sounds - she doesn't forget a voice, or the sounds around her, so she can recall very clearly who said what in a conversation, or whose tummy made that weird rumbling during a campfire sing-along. She can project her normal voice to any line-of-sight ear, even if they're incredibly distant physically, for a short message. She can 'weaponize' her voice, at short range producing an incredibly loud and highly focused concussive shout, which can rupture eardrums at the very least, and cause permanent soft-tissue damage in most human-sized creatures. If she tries hard enough she can use this to knock Scanners or headcrabs away from her, but it really takes a lot of effort to do that. In Rapture she's very likely to be listening to the creaking and groaning of the facility for any leaks or issues, but also to the whales and other wildlife outside of it. Also thankfully she knows the sound of a Combine gunship or scanner being dropped, and the flash-sound of a portal both mechanically produced and storm-induced, so she knows to be on the lookout for enemies even before most people have sensed them Vortally. She does have a strong Empathic streak, able to sense mood and well-being in groups or individuals at 20 meters or less, and seems to exude a comfortable, fun aura to those around her. She doesn't have active telepathy or Vortal aura sensing, but can easily be seen by anyone with those abilities.
Skills or Profession: If the world ever gets back to a sort of normal, Siren would pick right up where her mom left off as a nightclub singer, performer, and musician. She's had skill downloads for exactly those things, everything from stage setup and teardown, to audio design and recording, and can obviously read and write music as easily as she can spell and do math. She's also picked up a lot of history, though it's modified by her knowledge that the worlds that her parents are from are disparate - she's really super-keen on finding out more about both her current and native Rookery Earth, as well as Aperturth, and even Twoarth, where some of those other real hep-cats (and literal cat people) are from. Also she loves fashion and design, so if she's not humming a tune into a microphone, she can be found fixing up local thrift-store finds (read: scavenged stuff from the surrounding ruins) for the refugees and her friends.
Personality: truly the popular girl, but never arrogant about it. Where Raven is confident and more of a solo act, Siren is clearly the center of attention and a party girl who takes responsibility for her actions. That's not saying she doesn't have her snippy side, but she's got a real long fuse on that temper, and knows that she has the ability to literally turn someone's brains to pulp if they piss her off, so she's been very careful about how she addresses her anger issues.
Events or History: When the Hippies showed up at Lane Mansion, Pan started going through Keenan's old collection of tunes and recordings almost the moment he was given permission. And when he heard Rhea Mercer - the (well a) Rhea Mercer on the video link from Rapture... He just had to meet this lady. Apparently on Aperturth, she was quite the starlet, however she wasn't well known as a genetic engineer there, a feature that Aperture's undersea lab 'Bubbletown' downplayed in the early 60s. He's not sure whether that world's Rhea was still alive at the time of the Resonance Cascade there, but it's obvious that he knew more about this world's than he ought. Charmed by Pan's eager questions and wide-eyed fandom Rhea agreed that there was 'something to' this guy. Melissa happened to be on hand when they met up in the Mansion, under Lane's amused observation. After all, he still is quite in love with the woman... But he's no fool: their pair of children would certainly benefit from a talented little sibling! Thus, some careful examinations and extractions later, Melissa and Rhea put together a very custom child down in Rapture's lab. Rhea did carry the girl full term, and cared for her for another two years before Melissa took her up for Icarus and a bit of aging with the skill downloads she'd need for the new world. She brought back a lovely young tween, who's been growing interested in everything around her ever since. Pan participates at every available moment in educating his daughter on how to hold a guitar or which direction to sway in a ballroom dance. Siren resides part time in at Rapture and then the Mansion with her own suite, well she shares it with Raven or more accurately they trade off when one's in Rapture the other is usually at the Mansion. Down in Rapture she has access to the record stores and nightclubs, and is fixin to revamp at least one of them for her own personal venue. Her dragon tends to remain at Rapture, though has been taken by Keenan up to the Grounds to meet and greet and see what else is going on in their world. She and Liesell do a lot of these things together, Liesell serving as a kind of wing-man to her flirtations, and they have an all-girls barbershop quartet going... |
