Name: Daryl Vickers Gender: Male, ace? Age/DOB: 10, RY4ish Origin: Vault Earth, Diamond City Family: mothers Dora and Leia Vickers (adopted) Other: though he's obviously not their son, Daryl loves his moms equally, and is very supportive of their relationship, he's still young enough that he has no interest in settling down with someone, but he is a caring sort Height: currently around 4'6, on the small side, will probably be around 5'7" at adulthood Weight: smol; will be gangly if not skinny as an adult Hair: currently brightly blond, silky, and cut as shown in a very typical 'kid' style parted on one side; as an adult Melissa states that he'll keep a lot of that blond color, though it will darken into a more or less pale tan shade Eyes: blue, though the color is somewhat washed out and may appear to be pale brown, pale gold, or even grey; this will remain during his whole life, adopting whatever colors are nearby (Melissa says: just like Paxton's eyes) Appearance: light skin with ruddy undertones, and a good amount of freckles which will remain through his adulthood and some amount of scarring from various sources; he will certainly be a handsome man, and he hopes that when he's grown up he'll have access to 'nicer' stuff than currently in the world Genetic Abilities: though somewhat weak compared to Pantheon levels, Daryl actually expresses an active ability to sense and control animals nearby. He can sense creatures larger than a rabbit (which let's face it, is nearly everything in Vault Earth) at around 100 meters, and modify their moods at 20 meters depending on how strongly the animal is feeling. The more aggressive or agitated the creature is, the more limited his control is, but as he grows into this power he's certainly going to be able to master even packs of angry dogs or ... or maybe even a Deathclaw? He may exhibit other Vortal traits, but they have not emerged actively yet, and Melissa believes he'll develop as he's intended to on his own. Icarus Processing: none, he would certainly benefit, but she's unsure about the odd DNA he shows interacting with it, she'll experiment with the Plasmid-Icarus mixture in the lab. Absolutely she believes any kids that he wants to raise will benefit. |

Skills or Profession: Though he's still 'just a kid', Daryl is sort of the go-to for any animal issues that the Vault is having. This is a combination of his natural abilities with animals, but also because he was among the first settlers, and was definitely the first child on site. He takes this role seriously but not without humor and a smile. His education has been otherwise pretty standard for the world, with limited amounts of history and English, but strong in math (thanks to traders) and science. He certainly has a lot of sway among those who deal with animals, including the caravan drivers with their brahmin, and hunters who need advice about bait. Daryl's charm doesn't really end with animals, he's got a good head for dealing and trade, though he's unlikely to fully become a 'trader' like his moms, he certainly knows how to gamble and barter with the best of them.
Personality: reasonably charming, though he's still young Daryl is bound to be popular as an adult. He is quite sensible and stable, hardly ever panics. This might be due to his connection to the animals around, the only time he's ever really 'jumpy' is when larger or more dangerous creatures are nearby, scaring the locals. He is chatty, and enjoys company that can talk while he's out with the Chentuu, more or less for the intellectual stimulation rather than to forge any kind of meaningful relationships (those will definitely come later in his life!).
Events or History: orphaned as an infant and brought to Diamond City ostensibly to be raised by whoever was nearest. Turned out after a few years, he was already showing evidence of his abilities with creatures, keeping the local farm area free from vermin just by being present. It was only after Dora and Leia hooked up and married in the small chapel in the town, that they decided to finish his upbringing. Not coincidentally this was about the time Dora's parents decided that was 'enough', so he knows how important a loving family really is. When they exited the city, and ran from the raiders and Children of Atom, they arrived at the Wakefield Vault settlement before most others. Though when, after a short time as the place filled up, the dragons were announced, there were some 'pet' types that were brought on mainly to keep his mother Dora fit for cloth needs... and he instantly took to the Chentuu, feeling that they were much smarter than the brahmin or other such animals on the hillside farm, and far more useful. Since they were only just out of weaning, Daryl took charge of the herd as well as responsibilities to guide the other interested kids in tending to them. Chentuu info common to all, Features llama like with scaled underskin, thick wool requiring shearing yearly, used for making cloth; water and fireproof; survives nearly everywhere but is good for cooler higher areas (they might thrive in Far Harbor?) and though they tend to avoid high-radiation areas they're okay here with the rads having been mostly cleared from the place. Good swimmers, able to glide, run very well and trot over very rough terrain - they might be of use for transporting items as they're able to carry a decent amount of weight, and can handle gliding between broken overpasses. They require a suppeiment to their diet which is being brewed up for the herd and will be duplicated in the Institute once the breed 'catches on' ('once' - not 'if', they're absolutely sure it will!) in the Commonwealth; this is currently only available from Rhea's lab in Rapture, and is shunted to the Commonwealth's area on a regular basis. |
