Name: Marline Masterson

Gender: Female, Spooky

Age/DOB: ~17, aged, 2021

Origin: Repurposed Earth, AAEC Auburn Alabama

Family: Full brother Zack, they have virtually no siblings in the rest of the Pantheon, which bodes well according to Melissa, who says she's sure that Marline will make a great parent some day. No one believes her. (She scares Onyx but they do have twins in the form of Merle and Myrtle)

Other: Along with a group of others, she and her brother are part of the 'Reborn' Pantheon, reconstructed from remains and notes, splices, and born from surrogate mothers

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 115, and she looks it, quite skinny and lean, it's not that she doesn't eat, it's that she just... is skinny

Hair: black afro often done in very small cornrows, can't see it but there's a tuft of them behind her neck

Eyes: orange, they started brown but as her powers have grown stronger they just get weirder and weirder to look at, particularly because the sclera as well as her teeth are remarkably white

Appearance: very dark brown skin, with what appear to be scars on her hands and arms, though there is no compelling injury that might have caused them. Full lips and a broad nose, she has a very intense look most of the time, and rarely smiles... and when she does, ... she does seem pretty spooky. Carries herself almost limply, at times, but she is much stronger than she looks

Genetic Abilities: Teleportation is the power she likes to practice most, but it's not as strong as some of her others. She has a standard psychic suite of empathy (close range), telepathy (quite strong), and Vortal sight. It's what she does with that sight that can really spook people, because she can actually 'envision' things around her that would normally be invisible. She actually does 'look right through you', and whether it's a form of mental or visual illusion, or her very strongly projected Vortessence, anyone around can also 'see' ... through you. Ghosts, spots where powers have been used, remnants of conversations, anything that's left a Vortal impression, including simply living things, can suddenly be visible to anyone she chooses. Her teleportation is of the 'spooky puff of ashes' variety, and she can also confuse people watching by having those visions pretend she's going in many directions at once.

Icarus Processing: Yes, at age 3; this process lightened her weight considerably, though she would always look skinny anyway. It did increase her durability to about twice normal, her strength just a little, and her speed is quite high, around 5x normal. She can claim to 'always be done' with any work, because no one sees her do much beyond standing around looking creepy as hell, yet all the work assigned to her has been done.
Skills or Profession: given the standard education for the Reborn group, she knows math and English, a bit of history, engineering suitable for life in the real world, and the like. Additionally she's been given strong survival courses, though she uses more of the stealth than 'how to cook a headcrab'. She is very stealthy, able to remain almost completely still and in shadows, then appearing Right Behind You. She has never failed to be right where her brother needs her, they seem to share a Vortal bond quite like Pax and Geoff's, among others, so it's clear that they share duties and trade skills when needed.
Personality: Does spooky as fuck count as a personality trait? Gruff but only if you actually get her to say things. Has a surprisingly large vocabulary for someone who speaks about two words in a day most of the time. Generally she's to the point, focused, observant, and probably judging the crap out of everyone.
Events or History: Though she and her brother look very similar with their dark skin and eerie eyes, their powers are both disparate and complementary. And it seems that both of them have always known that. Truth be told, if anyone asked, Marline and her brother never really left when they died in the Icarus facility during the Synchronicity Events. Their Icarus process had been completed, so the sudden strength of Vortal ability they both showed likely caused them to not even realize they were 'dead' until much later. When Melissa began reconstructing the other children, it's clear they waited around until she got to their bodies, and reinhabited them as soon as they were able. It may also be possible that... there were already 'replacement' minds residing in those bodies, when they displaced them, perhaps they overwrote those minds, maybe they absorbed what little there was, perhaps there are now two more minds lingering. But, here they are. And their newer Icarus treatments went off without a hitch, strengthening their bond as siblings as well as their phsyical and Vortal abilities.
They grew up as the 'weird pair', not really outcasts among their group of kids, but certainly not the first chosen for games or socializing by most. Their surrogate mothers memories had to be completely scrubbed of their pregnancies because they kept having nightmares. Oddly enough, that's what the original notes about these children said, too...
Now they've got a whole new world to run around in, and there are a lot of Vortal echoes to play with. And dragons. They are currently stationed at Black Mesa itself, until Hoyle decides where he wants to put the Enclave - then they're likely to head up to North Aperture (where it's planned), or ... wherever there's action to be had. They do a lot of exploration in the meantime, rooting out Combine from a wider and wider radius of ruins.

Dragon

Name: Meatboy
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium 10'9" s / 45' l / 100' ws
Colors: belly black with tiny star-speckles in distant white; limbs, horns, claws and spikes deeply black - the black of the Void; face, fringe armor on neck, body, tail, and trim on dorsal scales red; main scales from neck to tail crimson with vibrant white patterns; wingsails crimson, pink, whitish mottled ... rather like meat, and since his body looks like it's got exposed ribs and flesh, his name seems appropriate; eyes are a sickly violet (not like blue shown)
Features: Hive-Ice-Night, Hive-dominant; four long muscular legs with 5 and 4 short curved claws; two leathery wings with four visible fingers, elbow strut, strong wrist thumb, all bearing remarkably long and dangerous Icewing styled claws; body is scaled with strong armor on all parts, overlapping on body and neck; head is sharp with prominent nose beak and central face spike, jaw nubs, external ears, and two long curved horns; dorsal spikes are long and sharp, evenly placed from neck to tail tip, tail is long and sharp with a venomous spike at the end (venom is internal, Sandwing styled); note that because of the many different types of dragon genes in his makeup any offspring Meatboy might sire could have a very wide variety of features, though Ice and Hive are clearly the physical ones, while Night makes up a strong coloration.
Powers: Winged Flight, unlike any Hivewing, he has only two wings, so it's a good thing he doesn't give a shit about being a 'true' Hivewing. He takes to the air like a beast, strong in chill air as well as during midnight flights. While he can carry a significant amount of weight he more prefers to just barge through a place and whatever sticks to his claws or spines will remain until he grooms later. Marline is the only human he would ever allow to ride him, which she does from behind his horns. He's more of a powerhouse for aerial combat than a distance or speed flier, and will literally tackle Striders or even Gunships, holding on with his teeth and massive wing claws to bring it down.
Verbal Speech, Vortal communication, while he can telepathically converse with Marline and to a smaller extent her brother or other strong Vortal minds, he chooses to shriek and chitter. Meatboy can speak English and understand Vort, but normally just spews Draconic insults and taunts. He doesn't care at all that the Combine, or other Humans and Vorts, cannot understand him.
Rot, the mixing of his very odd parentage has led to an equally strange breath weapon, if one can call 'terminal halitosis' a weapon. He does give off a bit of a nasty smell, but his concentrated breath as well as the stuff kept in his tail's stinger sack are just... terrible. And they aren't just for watery eyes or causing a bit of gagging. The full strength of his breath weapon will actually cover a victim in a sticky, clumpy bile, stomach acid chewing through any armor or even metal with painful ease. (Let's not talk about what might come from a union between him and Kali, the Xenodragon - thankfully she's rather small and wouldn't do well with him as a mate...) Even a fine spray (usually a close-quarters tactic to create a trap, as it lingers in the air particularly around the corners and floors of a room) will cling and start eating into clothing or armor, and skin... eventually all of this will have effectively dissolved a victim into a puddle of meat. The breath is accurate for a large glob at around 35 meters, can be spewed in a thin spray up to 60 meters, and the finer mist trap starts congealing at 10 meters. It lasts on the victim around 20 minutes which is more than long enough to kill smaller prey, and certainly enough to make any larger prey wish it were dead, the room-filling gas lasts more than 2 hours so it's good for temporary protection while exploring an area, or attempting to pin down Combine in their own lairs. He can close off exits in this manner, and just wait it out. His tail however can deliver this painful and potent substance directly into a victim, through armor of any type up to an inch thick, including through metal. It will cause an incredible amount of pain, but thankfully it'll be over much more quickly as it liquifies organics from the inside out - leaving a tasty shell. So he can slurp it up. Yes, he does this. He is completely immune to the effects of all of this, and it seems so is his rider.
Parentage: Mother Delight, father hive-ice Defrost (relation to Mashup has been removed in favor of more obvious parentage)
Origin: Adopted from Moonshimmer981 on deviantart, Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland
Other Info: Though overtly cruel to his victims and prey, Meatboy can be pretty laid back. But he is very territorial, and for that reason he - and his rider - is typically given a wide berth.
