Name: 'Cass', original name unknown, currently 'Combine Assassin Designation DR001'

Gender: Female, genetically; has been prepped for full Conversion so she's not having sex any time soon

Age/DOB: ~20, unknown DOB, conversion begun <1 year prior

Origin: Rookery Earth, City 77

Family: All deceased, was an infant when Combine invasion began; though she's been sterilized, the Suppression Field on Rookery Earth behaves differently than that used on Repurposed, and does not fully ruin genetics for splicing

Other: Because she has had major restructuring and implants, 'Cass' is never going to be in a relationship, beyond 'her dragon and her guns'

Height: 5'9", stands on toes due to heel implants plus helmet makes her about 6' at most

Weight: 150, quite light but that may be because of Conversion. Her gear adds about 30 lbs to this, she is rail-thin when out of the jacket and other gear

Hair: None, had been light brown and silky

Eyes: It's unclear whether she still has 'eyes', because the helmet is attached, and pretty clearly she doesn't need them; they had been grey-blue according to her records

Appearance: Had been light-skinned and a little on the emaciated side even before the Combine took her from her parents; currently wears gear as fitting a Combine Assassin, with an Arctic theme since she was meant to head to the northern areas and locate the Borealis; she is never seen without the helmet, it is not possible to remove it, also the heel implants are permanent, she can swap out leggings, body wear, and any other armor for different settings

Genetic Abilities: Unknown, though she is durable and appears to be much quicker on her feet than even most normally enhanced Combine soldiers, and while it's very distasteful to Mel to try and suss it out, she has good Vortal readings.

Icarus Processing: None, this is replaced with Combine Processing; this has heavily modified her skull to accept implanted tech, with vision and detection suites added, her lungs and digestive tract have been altered to provide easier digestion and the ability to breathe gas or dangerous vapors. It also ruined her chances to ever 'look' human again.
Skills or Profession: She was, up until her break from them, a fully trained assassin for the Combine around City 77. The processing gave her reflexes and flexibility boosts, so she is adept with climbing, navigation in odd settings, and has no fear of heights or flinging herself at enemies from above. She can assess a location for the best sniping and ambush spots, as well as hiding places for rebels. She's well versed with weaponry, from paired pistols, to shotguns and machine guns, and energy weapons from the Combine's stock. Exceptionall good with moving targets and a sniper rifle. She also has a knife and other melee weapons such as a stun stick, but prefers not to allow anyone close enough to use them. Obviously she is able to communicate using, and understand Combine chatter along with Overwatch computer use. Though she has a good sense of tactics, she was not specifically trained with it.
Personality: There was never a time when Cass was normal, or happy. She does not understand laughter and casual conversation, it seems completely foreign to her - though reasonably welcome, there's still 'something' in there wanting to pry out of the Combine's shell. Otherwise she is absolutely to the point and curt, issuing and executing commands as rapidly as possible. She will wait until her 'turn' to speak, her social skills are crap but at least she doesn't normally interrupt. She does seek out those in charge, and will only take orders from perceived authority.

Events or History: As a child born concurrent the Combine's arrival, her parents attempted to protect her as much as they could, but given they lived in a college town in Texas they were all but assured to become targets for the Combine's Stalker program. Cass knows she used to have a name that her parents called her, but has no further memory of what it was. As a child, they were taken away and she was placed with a creche of other kids, used as gophers and the occasional lure. Surviving that era was difficult, but since she did make it into her pre-teen years, the Combine selected her for experimental processes. Among the first to be a 'child Convert', her brain was already being affected by chemicals. As she matured, they implanted a new voicebox, removed what was left of her eyes... and finally about a year ago began the full processing for her Conversion. Had this process finished, she would no longer have reproductive, digestive, or other assorted organs in her body. She was moved to City 17 in preparation for heading northward, when the direction her keepers would have taken changed.

The Dragonry being established obviously caught the eye of the Combine, and even though a number of sites in Europe had been noted, one in particular brought several of these bizarre off-world creatures into their clutches. She was paired up with a dragon - they'd seen how humans rode them or guided them, after all, and wanted to see if it could be done with one of their own. The Combine processing being done to a 'family' of dragon eggs had proven reasonably successful. Because she and her dragon were already selected, they had not been part of the "rescue" that happened with the siblings. They trained well, and learned together how to fly into combat, normally they trained against smaller invasive animals like Headcrabs and Antlions. It would be another year before she was able to see other dragons in action, and Cass herself had one last fit of very Human emotion.

Escaping with Cynth, in fact allowing herself to be injured and captured, she knew it was their one chance to break free. She'd already been assigned to a northern expedition, so she has the kernel of knowledge about the Combine's threat to the Borealis. While captured, she wasn't taken back to her home near the Rookery, though she knows it is 'somewhere familiar', the images she's seen of Black Mesa brought back even more, if weak, memories of her childhood. Melissa examined her thoroughly, in Rapture with Rhea and Carmen's aid, and formulated ways to recover her from the conditioning that she'd been through. Removing the Combine control chips from both she and Cynth, they did have to keep her isolated for quite a while just to make sure that no Combine control could be exerted any longer. Though they will not ever become part of the front line against the Combine, as it's much too dangerous for them to be discovered, they have been put back into play - up north in their intended location after all, where the Borealis needs a stealthy pair suited to understanding Combine movement and communication. They actually recovered more rapidly than Cynth's siblings have, it's clear that having a companion could benefit the others, but it's unlikely they will 'bond' anyone even so.

Dragon

Name: Cynth Cider, a play on his original designation SY-EDR001, Synth Experimental Dragon
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium-small 7'6" s / 38' l / 50' and 24' ws
Colors: belly medium dusty blue; border scales dark blue; central scales, face, wing arms and limbs nearly black indigo mottled with processed reflectivity in cloudy white and silver; face armor, horns, insets, spines brighter medium blue, framed by very dark indigo on dorsal; wingsails indigo midnight to black, insets medium blue with darker and lighter blue, center marks grey fades from lighter to darker, all but central highly reflective and shiny metallic looking; claws black, eyes replacement white; has scars on face, neck, limbs and body
Features: Pure Silkwing, Combine-treated, apparently had undergone a slightly different processing than CP and Plasmid, whose scales responded poorly. This dragon's implants included one in his brain, which was removed and replaced - he cannot survive without contact to Cass.
Powers: Winged Flight, good for short distances and rapid-movement-then-complete-stillness, Cynth is good for close range communication with Cass to triangulate enemies and move toward them carefully. He can carry her and around two more human-sized weights, but prefers not to lift anyone but Cass. In combat his flight is predictably erratic - his modified vision allows him to quickly perceive and dodge even in very tight quarters. He isn't able to keep up a long distance flight, requiring a lot more down time after a battle than most. He doesn't mind walking, in those down times.
Communication, though he does not speak at all - his vocal area has been completely removed by the Combine processing - he can convey mood and ideas with motion, as well as directly communicating with Cass's mind. Though they are not Vortal, his thoughts are clear and can be picked up by anyone able to listen in on Combine chatter, at least locally - his frequencies have been adjusted (as Cass's have) to avoid detection by actual Combine forces. He has a limit of around 10 miles for this communication, outside of which both of them experience a sickening feedback, forcing them to remain close together. Neither of them minds this particularly.
Silk Production, he is still able to use silk glands in his wrists, and often it's quite sticky and gummy. This can aid or hinder, depending on how he's using it: he can stick items to it and block a path, equally making a ramp for easy access; he can use it to glue enemies down, or affix things to walls. The gummy properties of this stuff fades after about half an hour, so it's never going to be a permanent solution but it's rarely a problem as they're often in and out of a place in half that time. It is able to be strewn to around 20 meters with accuracy, in a single fist-sized glob, or spread thinner across a whole 10 meter room as a remarkably spider-web-like web - it is just as sticky, and will catch and hold either enemies or friends, need to have an easy target? Web. Need to prevent someone from falling down a silo? Web. The webbing itself remains a little longer, without glue properties, but no more than an hour or so.
Parentage: Unknown pure Silkwings, direct clutch-sibling to Nilima, CP and Plasmid
Origin: Adopted from GuildKnight on Deviantart with lines by Luna-The-NightWing, WoF by Tui Sutherland
Other Info: Moved to Rookery Earth by a flux portal, near City 14/17, the only one of the captured sibling dragonets that has a pair-bond. He doesn't appear to have feelings either way about his siblings, though he knows them as such. If he understands that they are disappointed that he won't come help them or hang out with them as they recover, even Cass doesn't know. He is stable in the face of enemy fire, but not to the point of going into danger without good cause. He does not like being used as a lure, perhaps this is a remnant of Cass's memories that has bled into his own mind.
