Literacy (also known as English)

English and Reading classes teach literacy and practical skills. While most classes are taught in current-era American English, some may also include historic versions of the language, and Fur-Side inflection depending on the needs and overall course purpose. Many of these classes have field trips to relevant locations or events, and some sponsor or are supplimented by extra-curricular clubs.

Basic English Middle level spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and literary use of the English language
Journalism Techniques for recording conversations, objective observation, interview tactics, and editorial writing, in addition the school newspaper is published weekly by this class
Fur Side Studies Specifically focused on non-human topics and literature, also suppliments the Journalism team with Morph/Kin interests
Speech More than merely mouthing words, this class teaches how to listen and comprehend verbal cues, as well as get around tough pronunciation of unusual phrases; also has competitions such as spelling bees and debate team
Practical Composition A proper how-to on writing for fiction, nonfiction, letters both formal and informal, and analysis of written materials
Technical Writing How to spot errors in informational texts, create user manuals, instructional blurbs, and news crawls; focus on engineering
 
Genre-Driven Fiction Fantasy, science fiction, [blank]punk, fanfiction, many different styles of nonfiction are examined and their metaphors revealed
Earth/Alien Literature Works from both Earth and foreign cultures, making note of different perceptions of the same events, and following themes found in many cultures
Fiction Writing Choosing the right genre, research tools, and even a meet-and-greet with published authors who share their ideas; fit for both basic enjoyment and future publishing
Ironic Literature If you ever felt like you're in a Shakespeare play, this would be the class for you, because you can then be in a Shakespeare play
Penmanship and Calligraphy While not a lost art yet, this course helps improve hand-written notes, with practice for fancy and practical script, sign-making, and a bit of graphic design
Netiquette In a modern setting it's easy to forget your manners, being anonymous online means paying attention to others in ways that can't be heard or implied; also covers 13375p34k and code, memes, and a decent amount of online safety tips
 
English (Honors) High-level skills for composition, vocabulary, in-depth studies of specific works; features trips to libraries and historical locations for inspiration
Martian Studies Non-Earth literature, explaining and exploring the differences in cultures, how to spot specific world-based traits and avoid embarrassing mistakes while immersing in a culture
Fur Side Literature Historic and modern Fur-only reading, often with comparisons to the Skin-side versions; features a yearly field trip to Fur-Side Alexandria
Epic Poetry From cave paintings to ballads that last for millennia, to hand-passed notes and memes online, cultural examination of how Deep Inner Meaning changes, and how it stays the same
Olde Englyshe Studies Remember that Shakespeare? Well it's not just him they study, this course shows progression of local stories into major works, and is not limited to Skin-side or even English
Coddling Codexes Reading and understanding basics of legal materials such as contracts and work assessments
   
Draconic Literature Reading and understanding specific dragon and similar views, this is a new class available through the Draconic Studies department
Fur-Side Ritual and Mythos Mythology and fiction from a non-human perspective, includes numerous cultural and species-based stories and legends, broken down into modern terms
Howl, Caw, Scratch Story telling and information from those who do not have alphabets; how 'feral/kind' culture manages to convey its unique stories, and their parallels in modern Fur or Skin society
Glyphs and Scripts Sorting and mastering foreign or magical lettering, this course may be a requirement for certain Magic Studies classes
Decoding Magical Texts Measurements and instructions can be baffling from one culture or magic realm to another
Ancient Scrolls Focused mainly on care and maintenance of magical records and how not to burn them
