Reshmina and the others in her team knew that the days would come for each of them - this campus was filled with people who had strange powers or exotic origins, but some of them also had been introduced to dragons. The APEX RANGERS would likely become a whole team of riders, or maybe with dragons as their own separate team?
Well it would certainly happen some day, but for now, Reshmina had been approached by someone that handed her and the others pamphlets. "Lantessama," she said, her accent was more exotic than most, but didn't entirely resemble the 'hindi' she appeared. "There are dragons who might suit me," then she looked at Luciano and tilted her head, "and perhaps you?"
He sort of looked at her like she was a bit crazy, but then flipped around the notes for each clutch. He frowned a bit, "well, not the water one," and Reshmina laughed musically.
"Of course not, silly, the one with dragons who have mastered fire. And we," she indicated herself and the tall teen, "are very fiery, aren't we?"

Reshmina continued to study the weirder magical aspects of this place, Lantessama was quite fun to look at and wander through, but she was still hesitant to just rush out to do anything without knowing what she was getting into. Teamwork was the play of the day after all. And when Luciano and she heard the call to come to the sands, they both did so in style, with Reshmina floating on her pad of warm air the whole way.
And she did not have to wait long, for a brilliant nose to poke out and then shatter her shell in a dramatic shower of pieces. Obviously it was quite the change from inside to outside, and the dragonet shook her head, and spotted the one she'd been feeling all this time. Reshmina was clearly perfect as a bond, when she walked right up to the glowing and slightly burning young woman. The little dragonet took in a breath and chuffed out a little flame, right out of the egg! She would go far, according to her mother's confident mind.
I'm Fuerta, the dragonet asserted directly into Reshmina's mind, that was quite the fitting name, too.

They practiced daily, exercises that strengthened limbs, tail, neck, and wings. When Reshmina would do her own martial arts inspired workouts, the dragonet would copy her movements. And then there was that one time...
"You just did a Fire Lash!" Reshmina exclaimed, as the other students in this summer course paused with eyes wide at the crispy banner that had been hit by said lash. Quickly Reshmina looked at that banner and then the instructor, and added, "my family will replace that, promise, just give the word!"
They took their firebending lessons in another, more suitably protected area from then on...

"At her size, she'll definitely be considered a queen," one of the other riders commented when they went back to CHS for their last year of training. The dragonry side of things had their hands full with this one, though.
"A queen that breathes fire and can shoot it from her wingtips," another one chuckled, "that's not something you see every day on any Pern I know..."
"Well it's a good thing we'll be here, and not there, then?" Reshmina laughed and swayed past the rider - a Bronze rider in fact - who predictably oggled as she did so. With a gentle reminder that she was off limits unless Reshmina said so, a large spaded tail moved to block that boy from following the silk-garbed young woman.
It was in their Senior year that APEX Rangers had their big tussle with another group from the Talon City area, though it became obvious quickly that they'd been shoved away from their home turf and were now just desperate to dig in somewhere else. It would be harder for them here, since not only were the APEX Rangers on the scene, they had dragons.

She had in fact donated time and effort to get that silk banner replaced, because a number of other people had started developing powers that nearly burned the dojo down after she'd left. The master there, Sensei Lue, made arrangements for other Benders to be on hand, and not a few years later his operation was part of the CHS / C4 Physical Arts department!
Fuerta and Reshmina maintained their presence as APEX Rangers for another decade, longer than many, and would still enjoy the occasional sprint to their side if things were looking bad - that one time a rogue kaiju actually fractured through the local earthquake fault for instance - and kept things nice and toasty until the creature was defeated and sent to a safe facility.
It was at that event, however, that her tall and elegant dragoness declared, "I am wanting a partner," and took a long, soul-searing look at each of the dragons that had shown up to help defend the area. "They are all ... somewhat worthy, brave, strong and healthy, clever." She glanced at one and another of them saying those things. "But who will be worthy of me?"
Reshmina was about to say something, her hand actually up and her mouth hanging open, when the dragoness took to the sky like a bolt, with literal fire coming off her wings and tail spades. She simply exuded fire, any dragon that could match her in the air would have to be not only skilled in flight, but able to withstand that fire lest he burn to the bone.
