Caledrus Resident Quarters

DARKLING DAWN

CY DRAGONSTAKE

ABSTRACT DESTINY

General Madness' Prior Story

Stivr'wynn's Story

Stivr'wynn and Axarr went together to the Abstract Destiny ship, unused to the small size and cramped quarters.

"This reminds me of the old days in the Galactic Rangers," Axarr said, slurred a bit because she'd been drinking for several hours. Stivr' had too, but he was just as incomprehensible as always. They spent the next few days like this, either sleeping, touring the ship, or drinking themselves blind.

It was a reasonably good life, but it wasn't why they were here... now was it.

Axarr woke to the summons of the dragonry, it was to be an absolutely private hatching because of the nature of the creatures. Why they couldn't just come out to an audience, Axarr wasn't sure.

She became rapidly clear on it when the sort-of queen of the clutch ate a hatchling - insisting that it simply 'not be'. With a shudder, Axarr realized that there was a bit more to the problem that Schroeder had mentioned, these dragons would be difficult - but they were also half-hydra, and Axarr's only experience with true hydra was Inga off at Caledrus - the thirty-seven headed and rather friendly one. Hydra apparently weren't all fun and games.

Axarr was the second called, and she immediately noticed that it was out of alphabetic order the way that they'd advertised. Maybe there was some reason, she wasn't sure, they didn't hang out with the others attending this clutch.

Fortunately, no one expected the people here to actually bond to the dragonets, the half-hydras were going to be a handful to care for. When Axarr's name came up, she dutifully went to Schroeder's side. He had to call a name twice, Remeg, before the little blue came stumbling forward.

He wove a bit, he looked to Axarr to be a bit stoned. His tone even said so - "... hi," he said, dreamily. Axarr thought he was pretty cute, clueless but cute. They went off, still weaving a bit, to the food. She found that guiding him by his tail worked best - that way, he could be tugged a bit to stop before he hit things...

He never got quite past the 'hi' stage, at least before the rest of his heads started to confuse things. Perhaps it was that he had five heads - whether they all had brains or not, Axarr wasn't sure. But it was almost as though one of the five was in a state of dreaming at any given time. And when it was the head with the crest... Then things got bad.

He'd have stumbled into the engineering room at least a couple times, he pressed buttons without asking (which on a ship like the Caledrus was a bit dangerous - they had a zoo on board, the infinite improbability drive and many other such things that button-pressing could damage), but he was utterly charming at the same time.

Because he was smart - whether he knew it or not, the tall strong looking blue was filled with facts. Mostly useless, but facts and figures, clever ways of looking around problems, though he wasn't apt to actually solve any problems, he often blurted out an answer that he'd realized while one of his heads was in that delusional state. Sometimes they were simple things, "cut the midrange, drop the bass", and sometimes, he would go on lengthy discourses about the nature of color or the philosophical yearnings of the personification of the letter R. Most times, people didn't listen.

Axarr listened, and eventually knew when she could ignore, and when she would want to record or write some of it down. He was insightful about a third of the time. But rarely when his main head was having a bad day. Those came often enough that Axarr kept a calendar about it, and like clockwork he'd slip into a weird phase. She had the other two dragons watching out for him too.

And they... were a bit put off at first about how much effort and time this newcomer had taken away from them. But really they weren't bonds of Axarr, they were friends. Almynth slowly grasped that he would be remaining with them - along with Stivr's odd addition - so she got clingy over the hathydra. It became her duty to watch for his signs of degrading, while it was Juth's plan to keep him occupied and observe his behaviors otherwise.

So in this way, they got along fine in the big dragon area attached to the Caledrus.

Black Juth
Clutch 24, Darkling Dawn
Starry Zetaorionisth & Black-Green Jasperth
About Blue sized

Name: Almynth
Gender: Female
Color: Green

Personality: Almynth is... well... a tad bit possessive. More than a tad. When she sets her sight on something or someone, nothing can stay in her way, and nothing can keep her from holding a deathgrip on it for a time to come. If she ever should mate then she will stalk that mate day and night, snarling whenever any other dragon nears him. If she bonds it will be the same deal. No one but her is allowed near her things!
