Adoption Nests - Last Update August 1 2005 At this time there are 6 eggs available from Wisterlea and Wisdom. General Information You should read up on the Types and Powers available, to design a page specific to a particular type. A generic page will be harder for me to judge. Hints on page building for Planet Twenty Glenn dragons Make a page that's readable. No brightly clashing colors and backgrounds that are difficult to see text on. Music, while nice, adds to the bandwidth of your site and often makes it load very slowly so use midis sparingly if at all. Animated gifs are nice when they're teeny but not so much when they're huge. Please make sure that whatever images you have are in the right format (so, transparent gifs are transparent, while fully backrgounded jpgs are not BMPs, etc). Resize images BEFORE you upload them - my screen is 1200xwhatever, but I shouldn't have to scroll to see an image! On that note - I don't like chromeless popups or Iframes. I really don't. Iframes because no one knows how to make the middle section big enough to view, and I don't like scrolling to see things when there's a whole screen unused. Chromeless... They can't use the 'back' command - this is lame. Just make a nice page with tables or a frame. I like frames and tables. I don't like css that are too complex for Firefox to use - and I cannot use dropdown menus or mouseover alternate text because I use Firefox! Please remember to check in both kinds of browsers! :) It's not necessary that there be a Caretaker on your submitted page, but I come from a very long history of awarding 'apply and wait/candidate/caretaker' dragons out - so I'm used to reading candidate pages with a story about someone on it reaching the goal of finding a dragon. It's nice, but I don't require it here. However a page with a good solid description of the locale, climate, area and world is *very* welcome. Conversely, if a page is too long, I might not read it all. Just because a story is long, doesn't change my mind about whether it deserves a common, uncommon or unique. So please try and keep your stories under control. Once you get your dragon images that's the time to really shine - AFTER you've been awarded one! I like to see interaction after each stage, inlcuding Adult stage (mating flight? finding a new friend?) but if you don't put up a huge story to start then don't worry about doing it later. I won't expect it. These dragons are awarded by personality and environmental concerns. I will not give out a water-type to a page showing off a desert, nor an air-type to a coral reef locale. So it's very important to read up on the types page to see what is available and cater to that type you want most. I will indicate with a special clutch whether truly unique dragons will hatch from it, so you can try extra hard for any of them. That will leave some folks disappointed, since only one per clutch might hatch, and maybe none if there are no pages which are 'worth it'. If you are disappointed by your dragon, put it up anyway. Don't whine. If you got into the clutch at all, that'll have been the acomplishment. Each dragon is different and equal in value with the sole exception of the uniques - and they honestly can't be counted. There won't be many of those I promise. If you voice a concern about what color you've gotten, it needs to be in the form of a polite email using examples (such as the url to your page, etc). If you aren't polite, I'll blacklist you forever. My option is to ignore you if you're mean. If you put up a solid argument I'll send out a different image and take the old one back, pretending like it never existed. :) Please have your page READY and UPLOADED before applying! I will not - EVER - reserve spaces. To Apply! Please send your information to the Caretakers - and fill this out fully please. Send this information: Your Online Name And please wait for a reply. If you send something and more than a week later I still haven't replied, send the information again with the subject line "resent" please, and tell me when you sent the original request so I can dig it up and you can make me feel guilty. Then check back for your name to appear on the Parents list! |
