Name: Venus Andressen - this isn't because she's some vision of love. It's because 'Venus Fly Trap' is too long. Gender: Female, straight? Age/DOB: ~15, aged, RY 6 (early) Origin: Twoarth with Rookery and Repurposed parentage Family: Mother Orchid, father Emil, half-brother Nasir, extended weirder relatives in the Color Guard (because a half-deity brother isn't weird enough?) Other: Yeah yeah Nasir, keep yer shirt on, the bugs will die okay? Height: 5'5" Weight: maybe 100? Curvy, but very petite, her clothes probably weigh a lot more than she does outright Hair: Dark reddish brown, with violet undertones, and yes those eyebrows, eyes, and lips are natural; extremely kinked curls, sproingy, and almost always with something hidden in it - not like, ew, but more like 'I know I'll need this pencil later'; kept short but it grows like mad particularly when she's been in the sun Eyes: pinkish violet, large, almond shaped with dark long lashes Appearance: fair skinned with freckles and a good blush, though when she's been working on something in the garden she does tend toward a greenish tint; very pretty, but a little on the 'flustered and weird' side; is among the few members of the Rookery that prefers skirts and dresses, likes floofy stuff, but that's probably because they have pockets she's sewn into them and carries her stuff; very much smells of sap and honey, though if you piss her off you'll get a nose full of pollen for your troubles; she looks like the type to sing while she works. She does not. Icarus Processing: No, but since both her parents are effectively treated she inherited a lot of the physical as well as Vortal aspects. She's about twice as strong as normal, and with extremely nimble fingers as well as exceptional agility particularly on uneven or difficult terrain. She heals at a very fast rate, up to 4x faster than normal for most wounds, and cannot be poisoned, no form of toxins affect her including radiation. |

Genetic Abilities: Like both of her parents she seems to have a strong grasp on chemichal and biological substances. She does have a good Vortal ability with plants, however, and takes those things together to create super-plants. Whether that means they have extra sap for making glue, toxins for setting up traps, spore puffs and other dangers to the eye and nose... or just 'more tasty and nutritous', that's up to her whim. If it's faintly organic, whether it be a complex plant or merely mold spores, she can identify it within about 3 meters Vortally, or on sight as long as it's easily visible... or by smell, because her sense of smell is as keen as her dad's. She has learned to ignore 'gross' smells and filters out information by whether something on the air is dangerous to anyone, or not. She can easily identify, say, the smoke from a pleasant wood fire, from the smoke of a gun barrel, even hours after it's invisible to anyone else's senses. She also has an incredibly good ability to blend molecular compounds both using scientific tools, and Vortally. So that ooze coming out of her one plant? You can put it together with silk from a Silkwing's webbing, and now it's entirely more dangerous and toxic than before! ... Yeah, what? One of her first specially created plants was one similar to a venus fly trap, anyway, in order to catch things like Snarks and Headcrabs. So yeah it's a large thing. But it knows people from pests. She generally makes them quite small though, so no worries. While she can sense plants at around 50 meters, she can only grow, change, or control them within about 2 feet of her hands. If she has a hand on a root, however, she can feel the entire connected plant, and that might go on for miles given some plants. She has to try a little harder to work on Xenian wildlife, however she can and does utilize it in her daily routine. Venus also does have a standard Vortal suite, she's telepathic with other Vortal minds around 100 meters with ease, and has a minor Empathic power close range, but she does sense Vortal auras at around 200 meters, and can communicate with Vorts with smells. | |
Skills or Profession: with downloads given while she was a toddler being aged to about a 13 year old, she has a solid understanding of agriculture, from soil analysis to crop rotation, genetics and weather management. She's able to estimate volume of space, locations, and strengths of plants, in order to best create the interesting things she does for the facility. Also her mental mapping is very detailed. Since her sense of taste and smell are highly tuned, her father and Zonie both have contributed information to help her best sort out what she's sensing in that manner (Melissa might have helped too but hers is a little too specific to be of broad use). | |
Personality: While happy and pleasant most of the time, one needs only look at the dangerous colors she wears, to remember that she can create plants that can devour animals. She's almost always amenable to setting something up when asked nicely, but the moment you piss her off, she will leave burrs and bristles in your pillowcase. Since she's essentially from Carramba itself, she often does attend courses there and likes hanging out with Ihrinnah and Virus a bit... a lot. | |
Events or History: Raised for a short while by her mother, and shown around the Rookery by dad after her aging, she does spend at least a few months of the year over at Carramba, though not doing more than 'sitting in' to classes (usually Biology with Paveh, and Ihrinnah's classes on food and hedges, but also the Dungeon Crawl because they like it when she creates clever traps for them). She tends to consult with the other powerful plant shapers - Eden and her family, primarily - and makes sure that a wide variety of plants are grown in the appropriate areas. Currently she is North Aperture's resident plant mistress. Enjoying the location perhaps a little too much, she has created stairwells, elevators, light shows, and entire food crops there, and will continue to do so as long as needed. |
