Name: Cody (l) and Hercule (r) Cubbage
Gender: Male, both straight
Age/DOB: C/17, H/11, unknown specific dates
Origin: Repurposed Earth, however it seems that there are versions of them on Rookery as well; Hercule was actually born near London while Cody was young, it's unclear where Cody was born
Family: Both sons of Odessa Cubbage, with different unknown mothers; they have relied on each other since Odessa basically fled and abandoned them, they aren't at all impressed with his antics or attitude
Other: Both of these young men are going to be of far more value to the resistance than their father, and literally everyone knows it. Also note: while Hercule is the subject of a webcomic created by Mythos, Cody is only hinted at as existing, he "hates his name", based on discussion about that very webcomic, by Valve writer Mark Laidlaw (in sadly now-deleted tweets).
Height: C/ 5'7", H/ 4'6", will be 5'9"
Weight: Cody/ muscular with good upper body strength
Weight: Hercule/ will tend toward a bit of pudge, currently too young to tell
Hair: Cody has brick red hair kept short, fluffy but dry, long sideburns, and thick eyebrows.
Hercule's is brighter orange-red, stiff, also kept short, and also with their father's bushy eyebrows; for the moment neither of them has (or can grow yet) facial hair, but Hercule kind of wants to try for that mustache thing.
Eyes: C/pale blue, narrowed, under unimpressed bushy eyebrows; H/darker blue, still large with childhood growth to go, more of a surprised look
Appearance: Cody has sallow yellowish skin with heavy freckling on his face and shoulders, a bit of a haunted look, and plenty of scars on his hands and legs from climbing and scampering around the Outlands, he tends toward slacks and basic relaxed looking outfits, enjoying having warm shirts and scarves where possible - he knows he can't go running around the ruins of a city looking like this. Hercule is still growing, but has a more even, creamy complexion with freckles that are quite light, and while he does have an amount of scarring from his scrapes in the ruins, it's likely they'll heal rather than become permanent. He will wear whatever fits, enjoying brighter colors and contrasting black jackets, and will layer numerous outfits together. |

Genetic Abilities: Neither Cody nor Hercule have any notable genetic traits.
Icarus Processing: None, they would not benefit from this process, and in Cody's case his mother may have passed genes that would preclude Icarus use. |
Skills or Profession: Both Cody and Hercule are adept at exploration and urban combat, having grown up in the post-Events era. Neither of them have what can be called an adequate education, and thus both of them are being taught by others at Black Mesa how to read, write, do basic math and science, and learning skills that may be more suited to their personalities. Cody would prefer to remain on hand indoors, and study up on communications and civil engineering. Hercule is still enamored of physical activity and rarely sits still for longer than needed, thus he is of use for scouting and any small-area exploration because of his size. As he grows up however, it's likely he'll try and concentrate on tactics and perhaps electronics. Hercule is in need of constant observation, because he is, in a word, distractable. |
Personality: Cody is protective, curt, and no-nonsense. He can spot lies and hidden agendas from a mile away, sometimes before the liar is even aware they're doing it... He loves his little brother with all his heart, and will make sure that Hercule has the chance to grow up in a safe world. This is not that world, by the way, but the Rookery's offer of dragons was far too intriguing to just pass it up. Cody is not necessarily a worry-wart, but he is concerned about the world - either world - he knows that their original homeworld is reasonably safe now that the Combine have been routed, but this new world still needs help.
Hercule is wide-eyed and highly distractable, always starting something before finishing his last project. Though he rarely admits it, he is ashamed that his father is such a terible coward and liar, and while he wants to actually live up to the big words and exaggerated stories, somewhere in the back of his mind he does realize that they're all lies told about other people's actions, not Odessa's. But of all the things that will help him actually do that, dragons surely are the way to go. He only vaguely understands that this world and their home world are different - he's got absolutely no basis for comparison, after all. |
Events or History: Born shortly after the Synchronicity, just before the Combine invasion, Cody was taken from place to place by his father as they went through different Cities trying to get a 'good thing' going. He was on hand when his little brother was born, and though they were a small family together in that era, when Hercule's mother was killed by Combine fire, he was only 3 - and lost in the shuffle of panicking and racing from safe-house to safe-house. Cody kept his little brother close, though he knew that their father was somewhere near most of their lives they did eventually stop looking for him. Picked up by some rebels, they headed to City 14, though they did not wind up at Shorepoint like some number of those rebels. Instead, they drifted nearer to City 17 and wound up holed up in Ravenholm for several years. If anything, they were entertained by the bizarre preacher Grigori, though they eventually fled that place before it was overrun. One thing led to another, and eventually the pair of kids - now in their teens and tweens - were able to hop aboard a transport along with numerous other refugees, and sent back to the States and Black Mesa.
There, they noticed with unease, their father - who at first didn't even recognize them. Which would follow, because it had been almost 9 years since they'd parted ways, and Hercule would hardly have any of his current features to know. But Cody certainly remembered their father's voice and mannerisms, and has kept them reasonably distant. It isn't even clear that Odessa wants contact with the kids.
At this point, the pair of kids are living at Lane Mansion, because the safety of the place is virtually assured, and they can get more growing done in peace rather than worry about the fighting elsewhere. They do still get to fight, just less often, and under much more controlled settings. RY+10 they have both established themselves at the Grounds, they have both set up in their respective Dragon Towers: Cody and Capp in 12 nearer the Mud Wallow, and Herc and Chip in 11 near the Xenian Crater. |
Dragon of Cody
Name: Cappuccino
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium 9'4" s / 32' l / 75' ws
Colors: Face, sides, limbs medium tan; belly from chin to tail tip light beige; face, back scales medium brown; wingsails khaki tan with tiny splatters of beige; all claws, spikes, horns, medium charcoal grey, eyes pale tan
Features: Mudwing-Icewing hybrid, mainly mudwing in body shape, with Icewing spikes and wing features; Four broad and strong legs with curved claws 5 and 4 including heel claw on hind; two leathery wings with 4 visible fingers, elbow strut, and prominent wrist thumb all with very long sharply pointed claws, jagged thumb claw; body is broad and wide set, with very fine scales, smooth armor on belly from chin to under hips, tail under is visibly armored, plated armor on sides, fronts of limbs, down neck and back, and over tail; face is boxy with high nostrils, external ears, strong forehead armor, tiny jaw nubs, two short backswept horns; thickly packed very long spike frill behind head, and long sharp spikes down entire back; tail is broad and flat on top with thick low triangular spines to tip
Powers: Winged Flight, though not a great flier, Cap is strong for distances as long as he doesn't have to maneuver very much. He's still a bit ungainly and prefers walking to flying, but if he climbs up to or lands on a building, he can power dive down to the ground with an incredible force. Usually that building turns to rubble shortly after. Obviously it's difficult at best for anyone to ride this dragon, but Cody does sit between his horns.
Verbal Speech, Cap speaks Draconic to his four-legged friends and is good with most English words and ideas to the humanoids around. While he can detect that Vorts try to speak to his mind, he lacks proper methods of actively communicating Vortally. His voice is deep and grand.
Water, Mud, and Ice
Use; because Cap is a hybrid of two 'watery' types, he is suitable for residing in almost any water environment save very deep ocean. He prefers fresh water to brine or salty, and temperate or warm waters rather than absolute frigid ice. But he can tolerate any of those things with ease, including tearing through ice walls under water with his impossibly sharp claws. Though he can tolerate these temperatures, he knows that Cody cannot - and takes every effort to make the human comfortable. Cap's breath weapon is frigid water, he can summon up the water nearby and literally toss it with a rumbling 'shout' - though it looks like 'magic' or Vortessence at work, it's actually just sonic manipulation and his natural ability to use water. The frozen shards of his breath can pierce thin metal such as Combine tanks, and adhere to surfaces like slick walls or even other ice, in order to provide hand holds for climbing purposes. He's quite precise with these spikes, and can hit several targets unerringly at around 25 meters. He can also melt frozen water, but he must be in direct contact with it to do so. This extends to mud as well as ice, he can separate particles in the muddy water and create a layer of solid silt with fresh or at least moderately clean water floating above it. He lacks a Mudwing's normal ability to heal from immersion in mud.
Parentage: Unknown Mudwing mother, Icewing father. He is quite young though old enough to have come to the Rookery on his own.
Origin: Adopted from Furrygamer2003 on Deviantart
Other Info: As Cody is protective of his brother Herc, Cap tends toward a strong relationship with the younger boy's dragon friend Chip. They aren't related, but they do share a lot in common, like the human brothers. Cappuccino likes hanging out with the bigger Nightwings on the Mansion grounds, and has helped tremendously in keeping the water supply fresh here. |

Dragon of Hercule
Name: Chip
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Currently Medum-Small, will be Medium (adult); 7' s (9'5") / 30' l (33') / 65' ws (77')
Colors: Face and limbs caramel tan-orange with tiny black spots on shoulders and elbows, black scale armor on fronts of limbs and face; belly from neck to tail and behind limbs creamy beige; back scales matte black; wingsails medium russet brown; claws, horns, neck, back and tail spikes all medium brown; eyes rich dark brown
Features: Icewing with a touch of Mudwing somewhere; Four elegant muscular legs with 5 and 4 claws including thumb and heel-claw, claws curved and remarkably sharp; two leathery 4-fingered wings with elbow strut and extremely prominent sharp wrist thumb claw, all have long sharply pointed claws; body has tiny scales overall, with heavy angled armor along neck, back and tail to tip; face is angular and sharply pointed with external ears, sharp teeth, armor on forehead, and two conical back pointing horns, neck has sharp long spike frill, long sharp spikes along entire back and on taip tip
Powers: Winged Flight, Chip is still just learning the ins and outs of flight, but clearly will be good at it. Speedy already, he does tend to crash land, but thinks this is hilarious. Since he is very sharp, Hercule must ride between his horns, which is fine with both of them, because they both enjoy hearing each other's laughter and shouts. Chip's expertise will certainly come in the form of speed, but he also enjoys hovering over things and suddenly dropping onto them from above, he is not silent in the air but with practice he might be. He does like slinking around on the ground while he can, and is still small enough to join his Human indoors on occasion. He knows this won't last, so he's pushing for some kind of dragon ... buildings on the Mansion's grounds.
Verbal Speech, having been brought up on Rookery Earth means that he is far more adept at English and some other Human languages, Vortigese included, than Draconic. He only speaks the barest minimum of Draconic, which he knows annoys the elder dragons around, but screw it - he's gotta do his own thing. He does swear a bit more than people would like around Hercule.
Ice Breath and Tolerance; Though his breath weapon is not nearly as strong as it will be when he's grown, Chip's breath can cover a broad area and freeze things on contact, which he likes to do in order to cause trouble for any Combine wandering the fields. This breath is almost entirely invisible, unlike some which cause a foggy cloud. This patch of deathly chill air will remain in place for hours, as long as there's no significant air movement. It won't last in a stiff breeze, but for any form of storm or wind he has other tactics. He can use winds to his advantage, spitting into it means random hail stones falling here and there. He can see through almost any bad weather, and doesn't even seem to notice temperature differences. Chip does like cool to chilly weather, rather than warm or arid locations, but he does enjoy muggy afternoons where he can chill the water in the air to relieve those who don't care for it. Also his claws, like all Icewings, are well suited to ripping through solid ice - or wood, metal, even soft stone.
Parentage: Unknown but likely related to Tank, this dragon was hatched on Rookery Earth. Because of the likely connection to that massive dragon, it's clear that Chip will be on the bigger side. He seems to also have a resemblance to Fracture, they are his dad and grandsire.
Origin: Adopted from Firefly1332 on Deviantart
Other Info: A rarity among the dragonry, with no connection at all to his 'homeworld', Chip neither knows nor cares to know 'what he's missing' on that world. This one's great. This one has his best buddy Hercule, and is where he's hoping to learn how to just destroy those nasty Combine creature...people. He does want to fight, and he'll be good at it, but he has to live long enough to learn how, first. |
