Name: Dandy Gender: Male, ... Yes. Age/DOB: 6@ Arrival, aged during Icarus, currently ~18 Origin: Aperturth, born in the Mansion there Family: Mother Destiny, father Sal, half sisters Crow, Calypso, half brother Apollo Other: As popular and pretty as this guy is, he will absolutely be dumped into the Pantheon's gene pool... wait, is that his power telling Melissa to do this?! Height: 6'1", nearly 7 with that hat of his Weight: ~130* Icarus radically reduced his weight and increased limberness, durability, and health overall; he is tall and leaner than the bulky outfit makes him look, though not skinny or too-thin, very well toned and even Hair: quite shockingly orange, with all the lightness of his mother's platinum and the red-tones of his father, it's likely that he'll have remarkably attractive streaks of silver at his temples by the time he's 30 because why the hell not, right? Though thick and heavy, it's mostly straight (the only straight thing about him huh huh) and he likes to keep it stylishly shaggy and under a hat; has no interest in facial hair Eyes: aqua blue, almond shaped with a strong epicanthal fold like his mother, under perfectly expressive thin brows Appearance: fair skin with a faintly sallow-yellowish tone for whatever reason, he tans into a gorgeous pale bronze; very upright and 'proper' but with a surprising flexibility that means he likes clothes that will move with him and not constrict, but still look fabulous. He has a clear, strong voice, and enunciates very well, after all it's his chosen duty to announce, guide, and present acts in the carnival tent! He does 'talk with his hands', so when he's animated, watch out for that cane of his... Icarus Processing: yes, at age 8, and also a little bit of aging (to a 'tween') which allowed his body to mature into a stronger and more stable form but still maintain a little youth in the process. It clearly - clearly - affected his Vortal abilities as well. None of his physical traits are spectacular, but none of them are any less than twice as strong as a normal human. His dexterity and senses (all, including Vortal) are improved to around 3x. |

Genetic Abilities: Already set to be quite a charismatic type, Dandy's Vortal powers are quite strong and center on empathy and controls. He easily senses Vortal minds within 250 meters, but also can distinguish normal non-Vortal minds within 50 meters. Communication with those Vortal minds is quite easy for him at 200m, and he can handle the mental chatter of dozens of individual conversations without batting an eye. He can project and read surface thoughts of even normal minds, at around 20 meters. Where he is strongest is sensing emotional stability, distinguishing all forms of mood and hidden turmoil, background noise of worries and wants, in all minds - regardless of breed and Vortal status. Dragons, Convocation entities, doesn't matter to him - he can feel around and understand those moods. He can sense at 50 meters very clearly, has no trouble with very large groups for that sensing. And, for any normal being, outright control them as if he was taking the mind for a spin in a car. He can do this to around a dozen non-Vortal minds at a time, at a range of around 25 meters: so standing closer to the bleachers means he selects a handful of people from around the seating arrangement and triggers cheering, laughter, gasps of wonder, or suspenseful reeling. These are all actual moods, so he has to be careful about whether that person is capable of holding on to them and not being adversely affected. This is why he will greet everyone on arrival to the tent: as they file through the tent flaps, he establishes who should or more likely should not be 'touched' with this power. He has a very keen memory for these mental signatures, and would not ruin someone's mind with mistakes. Those few in the stands are enough to start waves of responses, he's his own 'Applause machine'. Vortal minds are affected as well, though he must be closer, to within 10 meters, and more often than not he asks first. Not always: sometimes there's just something about a person that he deems worthy of exploring, and he'll experiment with the results. If a Vortal mind 'sees him doing this', he'll apologize, usually not needed given that the Pantheon grew up knowing how to deal with this, and clearly these otherworldly versions don't have the same training. The Pantheon are much more forgiving, but his Hippie friends are also usually cool with it. However those minds can be very strong: Keenan has felt the tugging of this kid's 'come watch the show' advertisement, and has even on occasion allowed his moods to be controlled.
Skills or Profession: Always trained for center stage work, Dandy really embraces his duties. While he's not actively 'working', however, he is apt to be reading up on psychology, sociology, and historical events. He knows that this world they're in now is different from the one he was born into, but both of them are weird as hell anyway. He has a very good bedside manner, and anyone that he's been tasked to escort around will enjoy the tour. He is good at a number of physical skills such as tumbling and navigation, and has a spot-on memory for faces as well as locations. Dandy has never gotten lost even when the Grounds were altered by the Lanes. Part of this is because his senses are improved, and he uses them all to flesh out details about a person or spot: what does it smell like? Was there wind, from which direction? His balance and aim are remarkable, but he's not going up to the high-wire, preferring to remain on the ground. If needed, he can and has used crossbows and dart guns, but doesn't care for firearms as they're too noisy for his taste. His mastery of words is well known, and he has learned quite a few phrases in half a dozen languages. He also has very good organizational skills, and works with the others putting on the show to make sure that it all goes off without any hitch. In his down time away from the tent, he assists his mother in working logistics and moving refugees around. Knows how to dress, obviously, and has color and texture skills that he's requested for implanting, since those seemed to be a bit lacking in the Lane library.
Personality: As bold and compassionate as they come. He's much more focused than his mother, and definitely learns from his mistakes. He knows when to bring in someone else on a project, but will definitely try his best if he thinks he could make something work. Since he's still rather young, he doesn't know all the tricks and travails that his folks do, but he'll willing to learn. Also he is a ridiculously snappy dresser, and incorporates the idea that 'the clothes make the man'. Though he commands quite a few minds or moods, he is often considered a bit of a solo act himself, likes his private time to relax and sort his mind - this seems appropriate, because there are remnants of all the minds he's ever touched, let alone controlled, lingering in his own. He has to filter through them to remember which are his own, which aren't.
Events or History: born on the Mansion's grounds - just not this one... between the sets of twins and shortly before his half-sister Calypso (by about 2 weeks). They certainly grew up with strong expectations of their abilities, and haven't disappointed anyone yet. Though he is adept enough to do a bit of the acrobatics and such, he preferred to remain in the sidelines helping getting others ready, and listening to Sal doing his banter. They have almost the same vocal inflection, but over time Dandy is making his own voice heard. He won't hesitate to lace up someone's corset, help tie those boots, or make sure that the head-dress is just right, before anyone leaves the prep tent. Then... Big Top! Oh how perfect a match, what an excellent dragon to be bonded with! They maintain a presence in the Carnival Hub, though are also on call for Destiny's aid at any time she requests it. |
