Magic Use (complex spells, scrying, summoning) - Lily likes reading and detailed work, thus her spell casting is often a longer and more involved process than her siblings'. She can cast short quick spells, but prefers those which have lasting effects, distant results, and complicated effects. She can transcribe spells without errors from one book to another, and has a special love of scrying spells that can be cast 'on' items such as mirrors, coffee mugs, or billboards - yes, she's scryed on and outed people when they're openly breaking rules or showing their true colors. She likes if:then properties, also useful in her other powers.
Teleportation - Magically based movement, she has a set of scrolls useful in the same way that the Portalable surfaces among the Rookery sites function. She does have to re-write these after about six uses each, so she stores a bit of equipment in specially warded boxes nearby just in case she needs to re-up them before leaving. There is no distance nor dimension limit on these, though the farther or more varied the start and end points are from one another, the sooner the spell will vanish from the scroll.
Code Worm (Vortal Data Breech) - Because she is still also quite Vortally active, she can sense and alter code while it's being used, transmitted, or saved on data formats as varied as floppy disk, magical codex, or even Combine computers. She can set up viruses of specially created Vortal code that invade, copy, transmit, or destroy other codes, and uses this quite frequently on the Rookery world to subvert Combine data.
Power Mixing - Because she is both Vortal and Magically abled, Lily can 'fuse' effects in a group of people who have one or the other (and possibly Divine magic, though she's less sure that would work). This is of particular use when someone has, say, a fireball spell, and someone else can boost Vortal range. Now, that fireball can be cast at whatever stupidly-far range is possible. This only works with three powers at most at one time, and only for a brief duration (about 3 minutes), though she can do it at will and it doesn't really require power use on her part and doesn't exhaust her personally.
Family Connection - Lily and her twin callum are strongly connected, though not clone-like in that manner as some might be. Their powers and sensibilities are quite different, and as such they can complement each other's functionality. They do have the ability to communicate with each other over any distance including dimensions, though it's weaker with worlds in the way. Any very strong emotional or physical sensation can be detected, but thankfully they don't automatically respond to such things unless it's clearly a call for help or support. Yes, they cheat at games with this ability. No, your Vortal eyes cannot see their communication, because it's also liberally mixed with inherent magic. While they can communicate more easily to their sister and parents, they lack other telepathic powers outside of this. |

When twins were born to Lilac and Piers some folks suggested they would be trouble. Well, they weren't wrong exactly, but they all knew to expect a goodly amount of strange from them. With the Color Guard having their innate connectivity to one another, and most other twins already born to Lilac's 'sisters' exhibiting the same thing, it wasn't surprising to have Lily and Callum gifted with their own unique twist. But they are quite separate kids, he's the aggressive and bold combat-mage, she's the diligent and detail-oriented defensive expert. Lily is certainly gifted and might be considered the 'nerd' of the family even among existing nerdery. She will read anything, from travel guides to autobiographies, far-flung space operas and down to earth childrens' stories. Then she will take pieces of any of them, and put them together into a new idea, spinning yarns that read like a biographical story set in a strange land with amazing action and an easy to digest moral-of-the-story ending. And then she gets Petal to illustrate it. (Callum can provide sound effects.)
With the Hallowed Silk project in full swing when they were born, however, only one of the twins 'got' a dragon based from it: Lily's Vale is well suited to his rider's needs and personality. Notably among Lily and Callum's friend group are several of Virus's kids, and everyone is just dreading when they'll hook up and make more scary plant poison babies...

Dragon |
Name: Vale of Shadow - yes, that's 'vale' as in valley, not veil
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium 10' s / 42' l / 60' and 30' ws
Colors: Face, underbelly to tail tip, behind legs soot-marked pink-violet brighter on belly; limbs and wing arms soot-marked purple; mid-scales shiny crimson with black insets; dorsal and limb armor very deep black-violet; wingsails muted pink with rainbow sparkly insets; spines and ridge muted rainbow; eyes pale lavender
Features: Nightwing Silkwing hybrid with strong Night influence
Powers: Winged Flight, Vale can confidently fly into the night sky, mistaken for a mirage or cloudy reflections. He isn't fast, but he can fly for very long periods without tiring, and carry a significant amount while doing it. Even at low altitude, he seems to leave no sign of his passage - not a feather would flutter if he flew over a nest.
Communication, Telepathy, Verbal As a Nightwing dominant hybrid he is exceptionally good at telepathic speech primarily with Lily, but also other Vortally-enabled minds as well as sentient minds with strong emotional output. He can detect such minds at almost 2 miles, which is quite good for overnight sweep missions, rescue runs, and the like. His voice is smooth and crisp like a fall evening, and he has a good vocabulary in English and Vort. He doesn't know much if any Draconic because he was hatched and raised in the Rookery.
Shade of War, Vale is known most for his ability to drop an area into shadow as he passes. This is actually a form of Vortally-modified silk, almost a drag-net of light. He can coat an area of varying volume based on how dark he wants it to be: absolutely pitch darkness for about a sphere of 20 meters across, to a mildly distracting twilight haze over 100 meters across. This aids his patrols, particularly when he knows Combine Scanners are lurking around. Though his duty is to the refugees, he will always be able to aid combat situations with this power as well.
Parentage: Mother Night-Variant Nebula (Opal's), father Night-Silk ... Nebula...(Holye's)
Origin: Hallowed Silk project pairing, clutched on Healing Den (strengthened Vortal power significantly)
Other Info: Vale seems able to refer to his parents correctly every time, wonder why. As a pure Pyrrhan born under the weird un-sky of the Healing Den, he bears much more power than many born on their homeworld, even if his variety of abilities are somewhat limited. |
