Captain Odette Redburne is an experienced EMT of 8 years, all of them here in Talon, and with the same set of machines. She loves to drive the ambulance, but also is an expert with dealing with hard-to-handle patients. She can calm down druggies, reassure worried parents, and convince paranoid war vets to relax.

Odette's husband Raul is convinced that his wife is the better choice to lead the EMT squad, but clearly Barratt's experience far outweighs hers. Odette loves to read her two children Harry Potter books, her 5 year old daughter Naisa and 3 year old son Christian are both avid readers, far beyond their age expectations. Odette is a tall and slender 40 year old woman with reddish tan skin, black hair which is often dyed red-brown for fashion's sake, and dark brown eyes. She is a pretty impressive woman.

Odette has experience in medical school, but decided that the high-excitement of an EMT job was better for her than the office-politics of interning at a hospital. Any local clinic knows that she has more experience than half their staff, and usually trusts her judgements about what to do with the patients they get from 108.

These two adorable AlisGryphs are from eggs found at Ayaga Bay on Alskyr. Once they hatched, the children were all over them. They have bonded to the whole family, and respond to any of them equally well.

On the left is green Mint, a clever male. His partner in crime is white Sugar, a female whose delicate coloration and charming name belie her real purpose: to cause chaos.

As they grow older, they will be included in the story for Odette's bonding.

Redburne brought her family to the edge of the sands at Moonstruck Lair, but there they had to part company. Oblivious to the discussions and arguments of the leadership and the parents of the clutch, the group of candidates stood around watching the eggs shake. Odette was surprised and heard her family cheering with the other onlookers when the first of the eggs finally broke.

It was a red, fiery markings, and he paired off to the only guy on the sands. He pinned his bond down, and seemed quite happy to have found the right pair.

The second egg was explosive in its shattering, but the dragonet inside hardly looked like she was the blow-hard type. A cream with shimmering skin and markings stepped right up to Odette.

Greetings, Odette Redburne, My name is--

Ashwinde, her mother said, interrupting their private moment. It was apparently tradition that the mother name her offspring, at least out loud to the recordskeepers, but the cream didn't even care. She had found her friend.

And Odette was left stunned. Her dragonet wasn't the largest, not the smallest, and was curious about everything in sight. What is that?

"It is my husband," Odette said proudly.

Well he's in my way. And he's getting too close to you. Those things too! Hey! The dragoness snapped at Mint, as he swept too close to the newly paired Odette. That is my bond and you cannot have her!

"Easy, easy Ashwinde, you don't have to protect me from them!" Odette said. This was going to get exhasperating - but she had practice with her two children anyway.

Ashwinde grew quickly - Odette wished that her own children would grow this fast in fact. She was an adult with a year or just over that. The drama queen that she was, though, Ashwinde was always overprotective and quick to snap at anyone that got near her precious bond or family.

Mint and Sugar both learned quickly not to anger the big sparkling dragoness. They kept close tabs on the kids, too, and kept them out of trouble. Odette's husband had brought the children to visit several times, they still went back to Talon for the kids' education.

When will I get to go there?

Very soon, my love, very soon. Odette promised. In fact she'd have to be taking a refresher course when they got back to Talon, and she would enjoy the change of pace from the endless dragon related chores.

I am not a chore, am I?

"Of course not," Odette laughed. "You're the best hard work ever."

I want to help you rescue people, is that what we will do there?

"Yes it is, you're going to help bring injured people to the hospital. We're going to really do good things, Ashwinde."

So proud was she, that when they did finally arrive back to the Station, everyone congratulated them. They were expected to get promotions anyway. Now they could prove themselves once more.
