Ruckus is a demanding, loud girl half the size of some in the Loft but with twice the boldness. She is a rather pretty cat, but doesn't care for being touched or handled very often. Though she will fight for her spot at the top of the perch, she's been known to share it. Particularly since her breeding days are over. She hasn't mellowed a lot, but just enough to enjoy pats every once in a while without the follow-up hissing. (from original lethe-loft page, also duplicated on Butterball's page) Obviously it wasn't too long before the kitties started having more kitties. I was awakened early one morning (grumble mutter gripe gripe) by the sound of chirping - now that wasn't too unusual as the cheetahs made that kind of noise all the time. But this wasn't one of them, it was coming from the attic, and that could mean only one thing. "Kittens!" I yelled, and carefully navigated the ladder up into the forbidding but warm top space of the house. There were plenty of other critters around, but I could see immediately that Butterball and Ruckus had been successful a couple months back ... it was a riot watching the chubby Butterball acting all manly. I hoped that maybe this would keep Ruckus's noise level down, but that wasn't too likely. There were a good number of little baby kitten-birds, and immediately I fell in love with a couple of them. But clearly, I couldn't keep them all. I also didn't think bringing them to a parking lot in a box would be a good idea. I brought them to the Healing Den, that was a much better plan. Jiffypop and Coolio fit at either end of the energetic spectrum: you guess which ends. |
