He appeared to be blind with all that fur over his deadly eyes, but like some other creatures without visible eyes, Rfoad had other methods of sight. He didn't want to hurt his friends, and didn't know if any of them, even the phoenix, could survive his gaze. So he had learned to listen with such clarity that he could tell who was walking by just by the pace of their feet or the swish of their tail. But of all the rukels that had come to this place with him, he seemed most alone. He was friendly, chipper most of the time, but no one invited him back into their den, he always went home alone and somewhat sad. Rfoad had a delicate sensibility about him, he liked nice things, he could manipulate items with his taloned feet, and he could, at least he was trying to, repair broken items just by looking at them. What other profession could a creature that could petrify things have? Stoneware apparently responded to his gaze, porcelain items like figurines. But still, all the litte delicate figurines in the world didn't make him happy. Perhaps if there was something that could, he would stop sulking and start living again. *** She snuck up on him, almost entirely silent. "I would like to be your friend, I like this little rook you have here." She said. Her voice was satin, her breathing soft, and her shape - draconic? "Do I know you?" Rfoad asked, tilting his head. She chuckled, and he could hear her swishing her head back and forth with a 'no' motion. "My name is Deziree, what is yours?" It was with simple questions like those that Deziree crept into Rfoad's heart. If she felt affronted by his sometimes-gruff replies, she didn't show it. And if he was replying that way at all, it was perhaps because he was not used to anyone wishing to be near him this long. "The roost, yeah," he said. It's... not very tidy right now," he admitted. "But I like it anyway. Besides, I can help you clean it." Deziree found that her human shape was best for such things - and it surprised Rfoad that she had one. "I have other tricks too," she hinted, but didn't say what until much later, when it was dark and there was little chance she'd leave him. She snuggled up next to the rukel - size matched for size, but she appeared only as a feline. / Surprised again, but suddenly filled with a peace that he hadn't felt in quite some time, Rfoad placed his wing over her, and slept.
