Genetic Abilities: as an ELL created for the Rookery, Mehetabell has multiple dimensions worth of DNA in her, so this is new. She has all the typical ELL predisposition toward electronics and mechanical devices, but Noriko's genes strongly attune her to them in a way that has rarely been seen. After she was aged, and given the opportunity to pick out some gear, she chose to modify an Aperture-branded blue-white version of the Icarus undergarment, and a few accessories, and ... fused them together into a suit that literally molds itself around her when she wants it to. She can do a 'magical girl transformation sequence' with the pieces flying around her briefly and then a flash! there it is! Her control over mechanical devices and electrically-powered machines is superb, though close range. The gear she has acts as a focus, similar to some that the Reborn's crew utilize, in that when she's got those on her range is extended and her control is considerably more refined. Normally she can wave her hand around a room full of machines and understand what each does, and what condition it's in (this is a generator, hasn't been used in a while so it's a bit rusty). With the accessories however, that understanding is remarkably detailed (three screws are broken, a wire connection is loose, it will run but it needs oil in its main compartment, danger shock hazard on the exposed power line). Under normal circumstances her range on this sense is around 10 meters, with the adds it becomes around 25 meters, and also adds a strong ability to control what she's nearest. Machines that are functional can come to life when she's near, turn off, overload, or change configuration if they're modular. It's been guessed that if she was around in the original AAEC she might have been able to force entire testing tracks to reconfigure over GLADOS's commands. She does exhibit a very minor telekinesis, and her gear will sometimes be floating nearby, a toolbox or spare parts wobbling in the air provided they're at least half metal. While she cannot refine or shape metals themselves, she can force circuitry to re-shape itself on a circuit board, imprinting new connections on chips, literally rewiring items if they're within proximity of new configurations. She does have other Vortal abilities to communicate with her sisters and other strong Vortal minds within about 200 meters, but also she is keenly adapted to the use of portal guns and other teleportation devices. She cannot arbitrarily control them, but she's looking into ways of embedding a portal gun (and gravity gun) into her gear somewhat like Angel Freeman's outfit has. | |
Skills or Profession: given skill downloads fit for mechanical engineering, civil and architectural work, electronics, and on-site specific repairs, she almost doesn't even need them. She thinks with portals, and can navigate easily through even unfamiliar terrain, quickly scanning an area and figuring out 'what did the architect want'. Though she can use small handguns she prefers stun weapons, triggered traps, and observation equipment over outright fighting. She's excellent as a scout, clearing out dangerous rooms or buildings before anyone goes through them. Gear: her Icarus suit is capable of being light body armor and soaking both energy and projectile damage to a small extent, but its more of use as camouflage and climbing assist. Though it doesn't have arms, she does use small fingerless gloves with gripping hooks on the palms for climbing around. She has long-fall boots that are built to absorb fall damage, and also to weigh her boot-downward in cases of free fall, though they're not the same design as the earlier ELLs have and doen't completely stop any damge (she can just soak the little that does get through, however). Her upper torso has a lattice of shoulder, collarbone, chest, and arm devices that each serve slightly different purposes, from monitoring health, to boosting lift strength briefly, as well as focusing her Vortal powers near the hands. This also can help protect her from falling objects or blunt damage, but none of this protects her against elemental damage other than her own electrical immunity, so she does take care not to walk through acids or fire. Steam seems to be fine, but she doesn't care for the way it collects moisture and might short out any of her equipment. |

Personality: charming, happy, and a little childlike at times, she takes delight in her work, and loves games. She's remarkably friendly toward refugees, talkative in ways that most ELLs are not. | |
Events or History: Created by Mel and Rhea specifically for the Rookery, however she was not given the Plasmid mixture because of her already existing DNA boosting her abilities. Brought to the Rookery after her birth at Repurposed's Mesa, she's spent her whole life knowing how important it is that this world survive the Combine onslaught. To that end, she focuses her work on clearing out potential safe houses, underground railroad spots, and supply cache locations. Though she spends quite a bit of time on her own with Inyekiz, Mehetabell clearly prefers hanging out with teen refugees and mechanic geeks in her down time. They reside in North Aperture, up on the surface where the mechanical items are being sorted, but are on call to any location that Paxton needs scouted and cleared or functional. |
