Name: Quincy the Animal Trainer

Gender: Male, bisexual

Age/DOB: 35, unknown dob

Origin: Aperturth, though he's been with the carnival all his life, he was born in Detroit Michigan

Family: adopted into the Carnival at a very young age; parents apparently abandoned him, but he's never once felt unloved; has at least two children among the carnies and hippies, Crow with Destiny, Pack with Grace

Other: He has always known that he isn't a blood relative of those who raised him, but he's never thought about trying to find his 'real' parents. They gave him up, their loss. He is somewhat overprotective of anyone he considers family, a trait which he and Keenan seem to share

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 220, all muscle, balanced along torso, arms, and legs; he is well used to tussling with animals of all types, so he must be prepared to actually fight them too

Hair: black, normally afro wooly, but almost always kept nearly shaved, with a distinctive mustache, beard, and sideburns visible

Eyes: Quite dark brown, though they're a bit on the red tinted side; that's not makeup, he has very heavy lashes and eyebrows

Appearance: dark brown skin with a plethora of small and one or two large scars from dealing with animals in his daily career; he is missing part of his left ear due to a bite, which also left a distinct scar in the shape of a bite mark on his neck; enjoys having the fluffy pelt cape, but knows it's from his predecessor's favorite lion; he's adopted some amount of Combine armor parts to protect his torso from further damage from invasive wildlife here on the Rookery

Icarus Processing: None, but Melissa is adamant that he get it done, or at the very least allow his children to have it, if they're appropriate to it. She says that he would benefit tremendously, and given his existing Vortal strength, it's likely to make his body even more fit too.

Genetic Abilities: Very clearly able to command and sense animals of virtually all types, from insects (including Antlions) to birds (including Boids) and larger mammals, as well as dragons of any type. He gives both Paxton and Jaime a run for their money on this power, as well, and can wrest control over Paxton's whiptail Fetch, but not while he's also doing anything else. He can sense animals from a considerable distance, which has meant that he's basically the Grounds best defense against antlion or headcrab infestation. While he does not have any overtly telepathic powers with humans, anyone with Vortal power can easily sense him and communicate to him, and they claim that listening in on his mind is like hearing and feeling a cat purring.
Skills or Profession: As the animal tamer - trainer, as he insists on it - his role has been obvious from early childhood. He can use his Vortal energy to outright command creatures even against their will but he chooses more to approach each creature as its own challenge, and befriend it first, before attempting to teach it tricks or behaviors. He's very good with observing animals in their habitat, can spot them even if they're well hidden, and will leave treats out when he sees feral earth animals. As the animal tender of the location, he is responsible for figuring out how to feed creatures, the dragons in particular need to be given attention because there are only so many wild deer in this area, and maybe a cattle ranch would be good to put in over in the eastern fields... Quincy is adept with minor injuries of animals, as well as humans, but is by no means a vet or doctor.
Personality: Even though he's clearly an 'animal guy', Quincy is never apt to shy away from human contact. Unlike some television personalities, however, he will never force an animal to interact with a person if they don't want to - he feels that the carnival might have been better if they'd understood how traumatizing the animal show was, to the animals themselves. He misses the creatures that were lost in Aperturth's events, but enjoys the fact that now there are new ones including dragons to learn about.

Events or History: Quincy was abandoned by his mother, who mistook the circling of an entire flock of crows as an ill omen. Those crows followed him for years, with the Carnival, and are partly why Rookery-local Keenan was able to track the Carnival at all there on Aperturth. They have come with him, by the way, so it isn't like he will miss those birds, they'll always come to his aid. The animal tamer prior to Quincy was obviously the best choice for a father-figure, teaching him all he could, but learning even more in the process of Quincy's youth.

Spends time wandering the entire Grounds territory, but often centers on the south-eastern corner Dragon Tower 7, for hunting. Has his own carnival van, inherited from his 'dad', resting in the central carnie hub.

Dragon

Name: Badge
Gender: Female
Size/Shoulder/Length: 8's / 68' l / 70' ws
Colors: light grey from muzzle to mid-tail, tail end is strong deep crimson, crimson markings on wing tips, joints, down neck, along body, and along tail; socks on forelegs and stockings on hind in dark grey, brilliant red triangle badge on chest/neck; horns are two shades of steel/grey; wingsails are highly transparent crimson with brilliant red slash marks; eyes bright yellow - the same as their smaller raptor friend's
Features: Whiptail Dragon
Powers: Winged Flight, swift and sure, quite eager to fly. She isn't whimsical, she will take to the air with purpose, usually with Quincy on her back, and bee-line to her destination. She is strong, though with the typical whiptail wing being as thin as it is, she must be careful not to exert herself too much. Quincy insists she not go up when there are any flying dangers, debris, or gunfire going on - and she pouts.
Learns Quickly, she wants to please Quincy and make a good impression on other dragons, but she's no fool. She exhibits a stunningly good grasp on both bipedal and quadrupedal 'body language' and takes her cue from Quincy when in doubt. She's been known to watch carefully as he trains another animal and actually emulate his motions.
Parentage: Unknown, there are other unrelated Whiptails at the Ranch
Origin: Adopted from DragonsAndVideoGames on Deviantart
Other Info: She is remarkably bold and strong willed, particularly where it concerns other Whiptails. Even Fetch, Paxton's dragon, will defer to this girl. But she stops at a whistle, though her yellow eyes will watch anything she'd been intent on with the same aggression until proven that it's not a threat.

Dragon

Name: Float
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: bipedal 8'8"s / 22' l
Colors: Rootbeer, bubbly markings, eyes bright yellow
Features: Soda Raptor
Powers: Running, obviously without wings, this raptor is in need of a good pair of track shoes... he is hefty and solid when running, not lumbering, if he's after something he will sprint nearly 40 mph for short distances to catch it. He's very good in low brush and rocks, uneven terrain, and with unexpected things moving around, like troops, other dragons, or gunfire. As he's quite sturdy he can usually hold up to three normal human sized people, though one of them is going to be in for a weird ride on his hips.
Claws and Bite, though only bearing two large claws on his forelegs, those claws can tear through nearly anything in moments. Trees, softer or brittle stone, and certainly Combine walls or vehicle armor. His bite is simply massive, and his throat can hold... well, basically an entire Combine soldier. And their armor. He doesn't bother to kill things before starting to eat them, and his digestive tract is absolutely outrageous. Thankfully he's unable to vomit, if he could he'd wind up being quite the trouble maker with acid spit.
Parentage: Unknown, though there is another SodaRaptor here, the Cream-Soda
Origin: Adopted from Crazy-Zoroark on Deviantart
Other Info: Though not remarkably clever, he can keep up with the tricks and stunts that Badge does, on the ground. Plus he's been known to leap bodily from the ground onto her back, which she's not too pleased about, but it's obvious they are just playing. There is no dominance discussion here: he's not as big and bold, and she's fine with him tagging along.
