What an odd pairing: Sapphire the shy urban explorer, and H'lis Blackstone the dragonriding charmer? It could be said that they were all but opposites, however they did definitely spark attraction - and they looked great together by any estimation. H'lis's grey eyes and colorblindness is echoed in Hana, while Helena's sapphire blue ones see in color. (Helena can actually confirm that Hana, and probably H'lis and Skie and others in that line, do see colors in a way, they just see a remarkable 'shades of grey' spectrum that is at least as subtle as the color spectrum.) The girls are much more outgoing than their mother, understanding that she likes her privacy and 'away time' as much as H'lis needs his 'group activities'.
It is that aspect that they together exploit, when they can control groups of people with their power. While H'lis's abilities are primarily sensory and input-based, theirs definitely affect other people or things around them. Helena's visual invisibility for instance, is an extreme form of camouflage. Hana's mental version affects people's ability to see her, editing her out of their mental impression of an area. This even works against Vortigaunts, which impresses some of them - and worries others.
Though the girls have distinct personalities and desires, they are very clearly twins in most regards. They both enjoy dressing up and fashion, socializing is at the top of their teenage charts. They throw really good parties. Sometimes, they throw those parties at the top of abandoned buildings, or deep in forgotten catacombs - but equally in the plaza's central square or at someone's house. Between them they have a strong idea of 'what goes where', mental mapping has never been an issue, and they utilize those ideas in a directed manner where as their mother tends to only view the places 'as they were' rather than 'as they could be'.
In most ways, Hana and Helena are extraordinarily typical teenage girls. Among the group of 'offspring' they have hardly ever had issues fitting in, in any setting. They learn quickly, and play to their strengths rather than to others' weaknesses. That's not to say they don't acknowledge those weak points - Hana's spying and gossip has brought juicy tidbits that they've let loose at exactly the right moment. Sometimes that can make or break friendships, prom dates, or the outcome of a big sports game.
Though they don't look it, both sisters are healthy and dynamic physically. They're nowhere near as durable as some of their cousins, of course, but they can get into sports or activities easily just like more emotional or mental pursuits. They are both extremely smart, but they know their smarts come with limits. They'd rather concentrate on what they're best at, slide their sad attempts at math under the rug, and work on social events.

Dragon of Hana
Name: Tarvechrai [tar vech rai, seeking the symbols of the future]
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium-small (long) 7'10" s / 40' l / 55' ws
Colors: lilac body more pink on tail and face, bluer between; golden belly scales; all body with sparkly white star markings; wingsails purple with tiny yellow stars; fringe indigo fade to white; horns black-violet, claws golden; eyes indigo and lilac
Features: long mutt canine face wide mouth, with large eyes, elegant horns, fibrous fluff on back of head; body long and muscular, hide with armor; four legs with clawed forelimbs, paw like hind, 4 digits; fluff on butt and tail tip; two leathery wings with 3 visible fingers and wider wingsails
Powers: Winged Flight, Tarvechrai is speedy in the air and elegant to boot. He can perform stunning twists and turns, but his best work is done in straightaways. Like a locked-on missile, once he spots prey or his goal it's only a matter of moments before it's caught. His speed is also an effect of the predictive Vortal power, but he truly can just fly like a dart even with Hana on his back. That does come at the cost of strength for other physical actions, he isn't much for dragging or lifting larger weights than perhaps a crate or two human-sized riders in addition to Hana.
Teleports - Tarvechrai has a strong local teleportation, best within around 500 meters, which he uses to rapidly blip around a complicated area while in the air, or up to around 2 miles while standing still. It hardly drains his power level, and he can push it to 10 miles but that does leave him tired. Like most of his siblings he does have the ability to travel through different dimensions, though to truly exploit this he must be very well prepared, and rested. His Vortal name however refers to the strongest ability he can use, which is Predictive teleportation. Like a hunting hound, he can be given a small sample: a scent, visual image, sound, or Vortal impression, and within 100 miles or so can almost instantly be spotted and reached with a flash of teleportation. If it's farther than 100 miles distant, however, he can still home in on it and fly rapidly toward that location. Also this is of use in combat situations, altering his teleporation during heated moments. Visually - should anyone other than Hana be able to peer into his mind while he's hunting - this appears as a glittering line between him and his goal, a lot like the tiny stars on his wings, which do move in shapes pointing at his destination as well.
Communication, adept at Verbal and Telepathic speech alike, Tarvechrai speaks in a hauntingly chiming voice, with echoes and faint reverberation that often can be very distracting if he wants to sound spooky. He can communicate at distances up to 50 miles with Vortal minds, and around 500 meters with those who cannot use their own telepathy. Also he is Empathic to a close range (under 50 meters at most) though this works on all living things or even non-organic life forms (such as Convocation), and he can sense strong surface moods as well as longer-term undercurrents if he has exposure to that being frequently enough. Since he also has Vortal prescience he can tell quite easily if a friend or school mate is distressed or acting out of sorts even without listening in on their moods.
Starwake, he has the ability to create and manipulate tiny sparkling points of light, almost glitter but pieces of it are around the size of a postcard or small phone. These can be blinding if he needs them to be, but often he'll use them as a trail marker for others to follow if he's on a rescue. Because of his creation within the Healing Den's space, he and his siblings have an added power to manipulate but not self-create fire. His is actually quite strong, and he likes to use fireworks in the air (or shelling/explosives in combat) for distraction.
While he has a starwake-Invisibilty power, he rarely uses it, and prefers to be seen.
Parentage: mother Azhnach Starpath, father Lipatan Lallitae, siblings include Taanumitae, Livoyee, Noclip, and others
Origin: Hallowed Silk Healing Den clutches, slight modifications; image modified from Taluns on Deviantart
Other Info: Confident and single minded, Tarvechrai is absolutely a bloodhound-greyhound type and will virtually never give up on following his prey. On the rare occasion when his power leads him accidentally into another dimension, he isn't afraid to ask for help getting out or going home under someone else's power. As long as he gets his target, that's all that matters. |
Dragon of Helena
Name: Gurfavatedeth'cog (grr fah VAH ted eth), High powered Wizard of the Color Guard Clan
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: More than Massive, 23' s / 180' l / 160' ws
Colors: Shiny Black body with speckled / matte black belly scales, extremely hard to see purple-black markings; shiny black wingsails; all claws and horns silver; eyes green and black
Features: Summoner/Myrsilk Triwing Danachian hybrid; as shown, some features such as wing quantity and tail type, horns, and marking-based power vary in family line and will carry differently in any subsequent descendants; naming convention as above, tend toward long and complicated names
Powers: Because of his background and magical heritage, Gurfa is remarkably adept with travel powers and is almost exclusively relied upon for them. Obviously Winged Flight is strong with him though he 'only' has one set of wings. With his massive size those wings do require a ton of space to operate properly, but if he's high enough in the air, he can glide for (actual) days, attain speeds up to 120mph within moments, and hover though there's often a major breeze below him. Clearly at that size, he is capable of lifting great weights, whole trains (not just a car) or even small ships within his fingers, though he actually does have a harness suitable to moving busses with people and goods. He has a bigger wing span than most jet airplanes, though he cannot reach their speeds... But he certainly can maneuver much quicker than those!
Because his rider is relied upon to distribute goods and organize events, he is often the travel agent to her broker.
Teleportation comes naturally to him, however the 'traditional' version of it does tire him out a bit. Still though, he can use it to move not just himself but whatever he's carrying, over 10 miles at one burst. This is usually an emergency measure, as he's much more adept with the use of spell casting and Void power than this. If he's overwhelmed in any situation, he uses this to escape quickly and usually safely.
Because he is High in Myrsilk power level, and his coloration indicates it, he has the use of Void Portals and Shadow Walking. He is quite strong with Void moving and can send others into the Void very briefly to move them where they need to go provided he knows the location is safe. He virtually sinks into shadows even at his tremendous size, and during night time he doesn't even need to use a power (Shadow magic after all does require there to be a light source producing shadows). He can melt into a shadow about the size of a truck, and appear anywhere within 200 meters from another shadow. This does mean he can pop his head into a shadow and out somewhere else while leaving the rest of him behind - like a portable hole. Additionally he is able to move through Time with the use of portals - however he is the only one that can move through them, even Helena isn't able to join him on these journeys. Where he goes and what he does there is his business. It's highly likely that he moves into the past to learn from his elders and Myrsilk scholars, because he's definitely gotten quite good at spellcasting in the short time he's been alive. He may very well be much older his time, than he lets on.
Void Magic Spells, using the Void is tricky, and he does it with such ease that hardly any of his siblings can keep up. He can use brief darkness and spooky effects, disorienting foes or even moving them away - sucking them from one small portal into another, he definitely thinks with portals. These spells do require some amount of pratice, and have components such as words or motions with his paws, however he's altered some of them to work with head tilts, blinking, or even tail-twitching - he really is a pro at this.
Parentage: Mother Tameji'alab, bonded to Taaj of Alabaster, father Cedanuachoth bonded to Piers with siblings such as Pelta, Rocavi'carr and others
Origin: Healing Den / Carramba, proto-Hallowed Silk clutch, RY5
Other Info: Though some of his siblings require a bond, he actually didn't - he chose to Vortally/Magically pair with Helena, and this has probably strengthened both of them. |
