Name: Heather Gibbs

Gender: Female, straight

Age/DOB: ~20* aged, 2023

Origin: Repurposed Earth, AAEC, Auburn Alabama

Family: Unknown splices, possibly related to some in the Pantheon, Nicole daughter with Gerard, Donor parent of Fawn and Honey Gibbs of the Color Guard

Other: among the 'Reborn' group, originally perished during the Synchronicity Events, and remade with slight modifications by Melissa

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 130* Icarus lightens her considerably

Hair: Blond, dark roots but that's natural and not dyed, straight, kept short as shown

Eyes: greyish blue, intense, smart looking, a bit accusatory under those eyebrows

Appearance: ruddy fair skin, tends to blush strongly, heavy lips, and occasionally burnt skin from accidentally staying out in the sun too long; slender and strongly muscular legs, well balanced, doesn't mind the cold but also likes looking fashionable up in the Arctic, has a bit of a strong shrill voice, often sounds snippy when she doesn't mean to

Genetic Abilities: Very strong Vortal 'ping', can sense Vortal minds and presences at very great distances (up to 500 miles), thus also a strong Psychic Suite of empathy, telepathy, and the like, also has a strong signature Vortally; shows a strong sense of magnetic lines, and to a small extent can influence magnetism though not in metals, more in general; minor telekinetic powers with particles, thus with the combined magnetism and 'junk' she often seems like she is a magnet herself - she collects dust particles, even casually, but then can cause them to 'swarm' around objects nearby (within 10 meters at most), however she can act as a mobile 'clean room' for this reason

Icarus Processing: Yes, at the age of 3 like all the Reborn children, she went through Icarus and was aged around 5 years to match some of the older children at the time. This process significantly improved her Vortal abilities, but also lightened her bone structure and made her around 2x faster than normal, also with some amount of flexibility to go with it.

Skills or Profession: Since Melissa wasn't sure quite what to do with the genes she found in Heather's background, she offered the normal educational suite, but also a strong amount of math and science, mechanical engineering, and chemistry. Thankfully Heather enjoys what she knows, and can apply her engineering to keep the Borealis functional. Shortly before entering Icarus, actually, she helped one of the instructors at Black Mesa with a science experiment, absolutely delighting in creating a 'volcano' in class with them.

With her extensive enjoyment of the subject, honestly, she wants to see the Borealis fully functional - to destroy the Combine here on the Rookery certainly, but also just because right now it's still a wreck embedded in ice - it should be floating free. Her skills with magnetism and the like may also allow her to actually navigate for it.

Personality: Strong willed, observant, and intelligent; Heather likes to take a bit of initiative and explore, pick up on ideas thrown around by others and run with them, and has opinions on basically everything she hears or sees. Sometimes those opinions differ, she's not afraid to get into shouting matches with 'experienced' people, but she's also not afraid to admit when she's wrong - as long as it can be proven. As decisive as she is, she does like to make sure that what she's doing is the right course before embarking - she's not going to just comandeer the Borealis for her own uses, but if she can suggest a course, she'll do so with gusto.
Events or History: As part of a reborn group, she was gestated with a surrogate and raised with a number of others, it was clear that Heather was a go-getter from the start. Though younger than some of her peers she often did things before the older kids in the group, like standing and running, saying her first words in Vort, and arguing with Magnusson before she could even pronounce his name. She took to post-Icarus practice of her powers with ease, quickly mastering her particulate controls - though knowing they're not her strongest power at the same time. She grew up post-Combine, and though many of the locations on her own Earth are still in need of repair, she figures that the other more normal people should deal with that. This world needs people like the Pantheon to help it defeat their enemies, before they can rebuild, and she wants in.
This is likely why she volunteered for the Color Guard's collection, and is extremely proud of her spliced daughters Fawn and Honey - their powers are so fun, honestly she likes that they got more nature-oriented things, to her elemental, figuring they round each other out nicely. Marlin's presence is that much more fun, she wants adventure, but only after the coast (literally) is clear.

Dragon

Name: Marlin
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Medium-smallish 8'9" s / 33' l / 80' ws
Colors: *Strong mottled blue across most of body and limbs, tail, head, lighter toward belly and on legs, considerably darker denim blue on wing fingers and back spines; belly armor is even light blue; wingsails and webbing is gradient bright blue through stunning white; luminescent patches along neck, limbs, body and tail are usually reflective aqua but change at will; eyes are brightly green; claws and horns are medium warm grey
Features: Rain Seawing Hybrid, Rain dominant; four slender muscular legs with 5 and 4 long curved claws including thumb and heel-claw; two leathery wings with 4 visible fingers, elbow strut, and prominent long wrist thumb all with long curved claws; body is sinuous, with a long and prehensile tail; scaled body with smooth armor on under side from chin to tail tip, tiny scales on main body and limbs, light armor plating on fronts of limbs and face, with reflective *color-shifting properties on inset patches, dorsal spikes connected with webbing; head is angular slightly dished, with beak and small nose and jaw horns, two short upcurved horns, external ears, and Rainwing style frill behind ears
Powers: Winged Flight, Water 'flight', though strong in the air with his large wings, Marlin is actually much faster in the water and can literally fly through large waves, piercing them with glee. He does fly quickly, shooting into the air from the water, and is able to glide for very long distances over the waves before taking one wing beat. He doesn't care for going too high up, and is far more comfortable flying over water than he is over land, as he tends to aim directly at the surface and dive down - he ... did make the mistake of doing that on land - once. He isn't able to carry terribly much with him at speed, but if he slows down enough to actually flap, he can lift about half his own weight and slowly move it either through water or over it, but only for around a mile before he just has to stop. In the water, however, his 'flight' is remarkable - swiftly changing direction, and vanishing in a stream of bubbles, he loves leaping out of the water rather like his namesake, and suddenly crashing back into the sea after confusing prey below. He's one of the strongest fishers in the sea, even compared to some of his much bigger Seawing companions.
Verbal, Vortal, and Visual Communication; because he can *colorshift his scales - not just the patches found on Seawings, but all of his body scales can be changed in intensity - he can confuse prey and enemies, blending into mostly blue or white backgrounds with incredible ease. He uses his colors to warn dragons or others about dangers, but also can speak Draconic, Aquatic dragon tongues, and English with a decent vocabulary. Not as extensive as he'd like, sometimes he gets confused when Heather starts talking technobabble, but hey - he nods and smiles and lets her do her thing, then goes fishing. He has a good solid connection Vortally to her, though, and can through her 'see' other Vortal minds nearby.
*Color Shifting, because he's a dominant Rainwing, his coloration can change, and he's never been 'at the whim of his moods' with it, either. He has strong control over the shades of blue, grey, white, and aqua that normally appear on him. His luminescent patches however are the only ones which can reach any other colors; also, his wingsails do not shift and remain a gradient of blues and whites.
Water Adaptation, since he's part Seawing, he is easily adapted to the water and depths don't bother him at all. Nor do currents or waves, bad weather above the surface just makes him happy to be above the waterline. He does not have gills, however, so he holds his breath while diving, and can do so for up to two hours with ease, less when he's fishing and actively pursuing things. All that said, he doesn't dive terribly deep: he wasn't really going to admit it, but when the opportunity arose to relocate with his Human friend, they chose the Borealis, instead of Rapture, and he's relieved about it. It's so far from the surface, and though he'd do okay down there, he'd rather be able to take a breath above the water, than find a hatch and enter that weird seafloor structure.
Venom Bite, though not true venom, Marlin's teeth are coated with a saliva that aids in quickly incapacitating his prey, so he can hunt considerably larger fish, sharks, or whatever else down there, with ease. It's a neurotoxin, but it isn't injected, rather it is a bit like a jellyfish sting, tiny particles of whatever-it-is that get lodged into the skin or flesh, releasing toxin that causes numbness and paralysis. He usually aims for the head, which is bold but effective, since he can often blind prey with one bite, and then just drag the fish upwards until it dies on the surface. Once above the water, and under after about 10 minutes, the particles dissolve and the toxins become too weak to damage anyone eating the flesh after he's brought it to them.
Parentage: Unknown Rainwing and Seawing parents, but clearly is Sunrise and Vrah-ell's relative by their strong blue and white coloration
Origin: Adopted from Moonshimmer981 on Deviantart, Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland
Other Info: Marlin is sure that he should find a partner somewhere. What he's not sure is whether Heather should have to deal with the repurcussions of it? The only reason he thinks this is that he's listened to the Pernese and other Old World dragons go on and on about how their mating flights got their riders new partners, or whatever - will she like who he chooses? Their friend? What if it's a Vort?! O___O <- actual expression.
