Name: Laura Quail Gender: Female, Bisexual Age/DOB: ~15, 2023 (?? her date may be off due to Rachel's reawakening being wrong) Origin: Repurposed Earth, AAEC, Auburn Alabama Family: Known to be a 'full' sibling to Martin Quail, and thus a semi-sibling to Cricket, and it's entirely possible that Melissa snuck in a little bit of Rachel Cooper into this remade girl; she and Jon DeWok have a daughter, Janet Other: Part of the Reborn group, though she wasn't originally even out of the splicing machinery yet - Martin 'worked so well on paper' that she was going to be mixed up and gestated, but had yet to fully be finished when the Events occurred Height: 5'1" Weight: super tiny, like what? Why do you keep looking at me like that? Yeah I know I'm all 'light as a feather', what? (Icarus processing did wonders for her figure) Hair: Extremely red, it looks 'too red if you know what I mean' but it's natural; short, perpetual bad hair day and always in her eyes Eyes: Vibrant, dark blue, quirky expressions and always scanning for something to stare at Appearance: peaches and cream skin, some freckling when she gets sun which isn't too often; diminutive, slender but not skinny or bony; prefers a modified Icarus outfit, but no heavy armor; extraordinarily chipper tone of voice, but she also swears like a sailor, thanks Mel Icarus Processing: Yes at age 3, though she was not artificially aged, it was believed that she would benefit more from growing at a normal pace. This puts her slightly 'younger' than many of the Reborn group, but she deals with that just fine; this process caused her weight to plummet - as above, she hardly even registers on a scale, though she still does actually weigh something like 60 or so pounds; also this gave her a remarkable speed as described below; she is not markedly healthier or stronger than normal |

Genetic Abilities: Very strong electric and electronic manipulation, Vortally storing electrical energy and able to release it in quick, very close range bursts; she can discharge static electricity in a way that disrupts most nearby electric and electronic items, though they remain unharmed by this process. Some might have 'gaps' in recordings, show only static on screens, and have at worst garbled code that needs to be fixed. Because the Icarus processing affected her body as strongly as her Vortal powers, she is able to burst-run or move with such speed as to be nearly a teleport, though it's quite short range, best around 20 meters or less, she can do this multiple times before tiring out, particularly if it's just a few meters at a time. This is coupled with more of the poltergeisting effect that causes lighting to dim or fail, then come back; she may also be able to 'feed' off of electricity like Martin, has anyone ever seen her eat? Oh yeah, she does like lemonade. Since she can focus on electronics, and not just electrical energy, Martin has taught her how to 'read internally', the code that almost every small device or computer station around her uses. She isn't able to affect it, but certianly reads it with a simple glance.
Skills or Profession: Like her brother Martin, Laura is an absolute pro with both downloaded and practical programming skills. She can type stupidly fast, faster than most keyboards can handle, actually. She can pick locks - electronic ones just fall open for her, but she can also use lockpicks, and no one knows exactly where she got those tools we're looking right at you, Wilson. Because she wears a modified Icarus outfit, she can turn herself nearly invisible, camouflaged with the suit acting on her electric impulses, however what she more likes to do with it is scale walls, cling to ceilings, and take rides on small Combine devices before they stop working. She loves math, science, and technology, and has studied in Black Mesa's library as well as taking tours of those at the Enrichment Center or Icarus facility. Not so much on chemistry, but still, if it's a mechanical or electronic device, she'll have it opened up, rewired, and back into circulation before it's even missed. She also is fascinated by the history of such things, and asks far too many questions. Laura really enjoys listening to Cave Johnson's old speeches, and on the Rookery world, has started digging deeper into the North Aperture facility where plenty of insane and fun experiments were being done.
Personality: She's like a young Caroline on crack. No, that's pretty much it. |

Events or History: When some classmates were playing with plastic cars and toy guns, Laura was busy making lemonade out of potatoes. She's really the best part of Martin, Cricket, and Rachel lumped in - curious and fun loving, a bit overbearing, and deviously smart. When the Combine were put down, she was still in the Icarus center, so she did enjoy growing up among people who were positive and looking up again, rather than the blankly terrorized looks that some on the Rookery world still give. She knows that her own brother went through that phase, saw not only some of his friends die to the horrors that happened in their youth but according to Cricket almost lost his own life to them. Of all the things she is wary of, versions of GLADOS are certainly among them. However, she won't let that deter her from exploring, experimenting, and having plenty of fun with Bubblegum. |
