SACCADE's base of operations: is classified.
It is an extensive complex of housing, training facilities, personal enhancement production, experimentation, and health care, as well as the required stacks of records, research materials, portals to and from other locations both in Paragon City as well as the wider world or other places entirely. Each member has a portion of the base to decorate as they see fit, though at this point most of those locations are shared by multiple people, either with shared interests or requirements, or because they're waiting for promotion to a larger spot.
NOTE WELL that this page is image heavy!
Shown above, the main layout of the base cleared of the intervening meters of rock and city works. Obviously no one could possibly see this view!
Each area is labeled here, with individual locations for housing shown below. Those who have ^ by their names have multiple entries on the roster thanks to aliases.
Let's take a tour! Don't worry, if you don't have full clearance, your memories will be wiped but you'll still get to enjoy an hour or two guided tour around the facilities. Remember that you can't touch anything, and that unless someone invites you into their home, all you get to see is their front doors...
|
Entry Point, this area is well guarded and has much more security than merely a pair of people behind desks. Everything is clearly marked, because people can get lost here.
SACCADE's color scheme is officially red and white, though all interoffice documentation is in grey and black.
The supergroup's base code (meta, if you're in the game have at) is
Blink-1894.
They do not have any official dress code, but if the 'superheroic' members of the team have their 'superheroic' outfits, including capes or big bad shoulder pads, helmets or whatever else, they do tend to have an alternate with that color scheme on it. |
|
Ms Ham's library and home, her home being the upper level and the 2-floor library below it. All of this is strictly monitored, as there are tomes with dangerous contents everywhere.
Occasional visits from otherworldly folk mean there is added security in the form of both magic and vortal energies, above and beyond the technology of cameras and turrets.
If you can't find what you're looking for in this library, good luck, it probably found its way to MAGI's vaults somehow, and might even be back in the hands of its original owners. But we don't judge here, MAGI's security is ... just fine. |
|
The Vahh Exhibit is actually a portal directly to Xen, though safely maintained by Keenan Lane or one of his alternates, in this case specifically Raa Vahh'chackt. You don't really want to try and touch this portal, nor the things living behind it. |
|
Medical Screening Bay, before anyone - including visitors - gets to enter the area at large, they are scanned for both illness and unwanted devices. No one gets to surveil the area that doesn't belong here. |
|
The SACCADE hub, with entry points to the exercise and personal improvement areas, 'danger room' testing, plus the bulk of the meeting hall, records room, and storage.
The records room is primarily as you can see there, with row upon row of filing cabinets, lateral files, and computer banks. New information filtered from the watch room nearby appears to be printed out almost immediately and filed by adept workers.
In emergency situations, this room is sealed off and the Portals beyond (as well as entry to the main room they are in) are blocked by powerful force fields. |
|
The records room has its own whole break room and service area, and the bulk of the base's employees gather here regularly for pot luck dinners, events, and just relaxing. Right now, that darn slushie machine is still broken, but there's plenty of other food and drinks available at all times. |
|
With not only a city to maintain, but other lands, worlds, and even times and dimensions, SACCADE's portal area is clean and well-maintained. There are no secrets here: those last couple portals along the wall are definitely heading to the Rogue Isles, Praetoria, and places more distant. What kind of system would we have, if we had to take a plane flight there?! Heck, they hardly have to take the public trams here. |
|
There is a lot of stuff in Storage that is still highly classified, but just pretend you didn't see the TARDIS or those Rikti monkeys, okay? |
|
The virtual conference room allows members of SACCADE to remotely discuss plans and operations in a very secure environment. Coffee and donuts are definitely available, because some of those meetings last a long time. |
|
The observation area in the foreground monitors the entire base, and any odd activity is immediately reported to Price.
Beyond, the server systems above, and the crafting storage and invention table area below are often quite busy with actitivy. If someone creates an enhancement they can't use, they will drop it off here, allowing anyone on the roster to benefit. |
|
The SACCADE testing facility is off limits to anyone outside the roster. Also of note, this portion of the 'danger room' is only a fraction of the full facility, with plans on supporting hundreds of trainees with dozens of unique challenges. Though it may or may not open to the Paragon heroic public for quite some time. |
|
The 3 level Classroom area has room for sciences, technology, as well as basic education. Since many of the up and coming heroes of the group - and the city at large - are rather young, they don't have much time to attend university or even high school, so SACCADE covers this with tutors and specifically geared classes fit to keep everyone's mind sharp. |
|
Nearby, we have a fully functional gym, with yoga, exercise equipment, and trainers to help. Someone needs to help that guy on the weights, though. He seems to be struggling. |
|
After (or before) the gym, pick up some high-energy snacks or supplements, a smoothie to go, or some entertainment to flip through while you're on the treadmill. |
|
The olympic-sized pool that SACCADE sports has several high-dive boards, racing equipment, and even a shallow end for just playing around.
The large gates at the back lead to the 'pond' system. |
|
That selfsame pond system in action is quite nice. The simulated exterior landscaping and 'sky' can help boost morale and offer a very nice camp-ground experience, complete with fishing and relaxing picnic area. |
|
The Shooting Range also known as "Run Think Shoot Live" by its inhabitants Naris Colothan and Dezah, is a popular area for many reasons. Not the least of which is the ability to do away with pesky piles of junk.
Note that this is a live fire area, so bring your ear and eye protection if you're not immune to damage. |
|
Taz's Academy has the magical research, education, and dueling arena that you've always wanted. He and his partner Dorian Pershing (also known as Blood Runs Cold) keep the place well stocked with required ritual items, gear, and protective warding. |
While some folks do reside in the larger areas above, the individual housing for the rest appear below. Each location has its own style, lighting, atmosphere, and mood - sometimes quite homey and normal for a 21st century condo, while others are just downright odd. The people living in these houses are welcome to also have their own homes elsewhere, but most of them have taken Price up on his offer to permanently house whoever is on roster. Pets are allowed and encouraged, though there are some issues down around suite 19 given who lives there. 'Risen undead and captured souls' are not 'pets'.
If the individuals have their own separate page here, their home will also be displayed in more detail on that page. |
|
Room 1
As the first to join up, Neon and Mortar opted for a high-tech looking arrangement. She needs the power supply, since she's literally made of neon nanotech. They have a full bar - in fact their 'kitchen' is little more than a booze emporium, but let's not dwell on that. They also have a meeting area, the second floor above the entry doorway, where public-facing decisions and meetings with city officials are usually held, since this is both more private than the main conference room, and has less of a chance to have accidental information leaks. |
|
Room 2
This room has undergone a radical change since one member has moved in with other members in a more nature-based setting. Porcelain Crab and Glass Spinnerette are... well, they're enjoying their time next to the vault holding special items! That's it! Their three-story home is mansion-styled, with Spin on the top, and Crab in the middle, they even have a fun game room on the ground floor. It's true that they are both Arachnos based, and have missions exclusively in the Rogue Isles. Together they are actually infiltrating the system there, and making sure that Price knows if anything big is on the horizon, to prepare for accordingly. |
|
Room 3
Vesperwing has gone through several name changes in her tenure with the group, finally settling on this given her great dark wings and shadow-tar powers. Phoenix Queen Teegan is a reasonably new addition to the team. Though their powers are virtually opposites, the pair get along famously and enjoy the traditional Japanese tea garden theme of this home.
They have a very nice traditional bath as well, which many members of the team have been invited to enjoy in their down time. |
|
Room 4
The Price residence. Well, they also have an apartment home in central King's Row, his childhood home in fact. But these days both Randolf and his daughter Ebony tend to remain in this split level home.
Their kitchen has a full double oven setup, and on the other side of the house is the meeting room fit for SACCADE planning and events. A lot of the items in this home are magically embued, including the cat guarding the fireplace. Yes it will bite. No it doesn't like either Price's shadow-beast dogs... |
|
Room 5 (seen overhead with rock removed)
Drop Shadow and Edgy Backstory produce comic books in their spare time, being the artist and writer respectively. Their ultramodern loft rests across from the nightclub they co-own, known as CLUB DESPAIR.
The club is a gothy one but also has a sauna and hot tub downstairs, so who even knows what's going on there half the time. |
|
Room 6
Operative Daddy-O and his new girlfriend Willowisp reside in this recreation of his own childhood home - a home demolished in the 1960s to make room for a mall. As displaced as he is in time and culture, Daddy-O knows his way around magic, technology, and runs the vehicle garage situated right next to this home.
Yes, he has a waterbed. No, you may not jump on it. However, he is known for his cookouts and bbq ribs! |
|
Room 7
The incredibly important satellite communication sytem is located in this area, protected and run by Jacob Silverhand (no relation) and R3M073 Un17. Remote is 'on loan' from the Convocation, and does tech work for nearly all their coalition partners. Silverhand's own partner resides in the opposite area. The upstairs of this location taps in to a lot of local and world wide systems, and is manned by folks who are ported back home daily.
They have their own small weapons range downstairs, it's well used. |
|
Room 8, the Server Center
Where Jacob lives across the way, Network, his artificially created girlfriend, resides in the power supply and computer system at the heart of SACCADE's entire com network. Concorde 9.0, another synthetic, has her power and recharging systems here, and Liana Bower aka FloratronicCircuitree, CryptoCurrent's sister, does their maintenance and repairs.
There may very well be other AI residing inside this area, but only those three would know. |
|
Room 9
Salem West and his dog Patchy reside in a very stylish two-story house with a nice yard and a full museum in the upper area. When Daddy-O calls on Salem, it's because he's got fish or spices to spare, and for a more formal dinner the West residence is where you really want to be invited!
He hosts regular gatherings for art appreciation, trading off with Daily. |
|
Room 10
Valeria Teknis and the Praetorian heroine known as BullFinch maintain a massive technological corner of the base that has... a mech unit, not like the Vanguard's little defensive things, but a full blown sit in the cockpit and pilot it anime-style mech.
No, they do not offer rides in it. Their office behind that light wall is fit with remote piloting units (thanks to R3M073 in another suite) and they have several pilots that work with SACCADE who run the unit when they are out on patrol. |
|
Room 11, the Shooting Range and housing
Naris and Dezah make a great team in terms of setting up and shooting down virtually anything that moves. While Naris does so with her colorful bursts of energy, Dezah is more or less a weapons expert from a place Far Far Away (and probably Long Ago).
They somehow manage to sleep even though there's a full arcade and that whole shooting range under their apartment. They apparently overtook what had been intended as a shop originally because the stuff they moved in includes a full public restroom and small snack bar. |
|
Room 12
On the farther end of the residential streets, two very disparate individuals sharing one last name happened to meet. Chris and Ty Weaver are not technically related, since they come from different dimensions. But they are since they've hit it off after a bit of a grudging start. Their home was originally occupied by a Zekiran contingent but those members have since moved to their new group.
Artistic and modern, this home seems like it could have been in any slightly-futuristic sci fi show. Of course, with a Typhon whose secondary identity in the city is known as Geneocratis Legatus - a 'weaver' - and a girl whose original home was overtaken by Typhon creatures... It's more of an odd-couple dramedy than anything else. |
|
Room 13, Taz's Magic Academy
With the Academy shown above being the bulk of this 'residence', Taz and Dorian reside behind that big circular sigil on the wall up there. And yes they can see through it. To anywhere.
If you aren't magically endowed or inclined, you won't be able to actually enter the Academy proper without their permission and warding. |
|
Room 14
Summer Tempest's family home is recreated in this elegant water-side home. Her family has a restaurant, and she serves the best seafood dinners known in the group! The gentle sounds of water and buoy bells is often heard here.
Tessa Bower, CryptoCurrent, is Liana's sister and enjoys helping with the watery environment as well as learning from the much more experienced Summer how best to control her powers. |
|
Room 15, Medical Clinic
Selene Alcott and Leucadia - Moondive and Darkmatter - are quite the powerhouse pair, and their modern mixture of bright walls and Asian-influenced furnishings are quite pleasant if you have to visit their place for a checkup.
They are responsible for creating MOONROSE, the artificially intelligent robotic unit that runs the SACCADE training facility. Both of them are stunningly smart, with a high-tech and hard-work background. |
|
Room 16
Craig Daily, and a later addition in the form of Minnie Tuttle (or Minuette), has a picture-perfect home designed around the elements. He admits that he had hundreds of years to study architecture, and in fact designed a lot of the areas that the group live in. His centerpiece is a pond with small burning stones, and a waterfall (barely seen next to the globe there) that has fire burning between its tiers.
Minuette and he have truly hit it off, as they both have similar physical challenges, being cyborgs 'not by choice'. Her artistic and musical career may yet take off once more from this place. |
|
Room 17
This place is overgrown with alien trees and lush heavy vines, and is a paradise for the trio that live here. While Three Feather is in fact human, she's from a world where the Aztec civilization never vanished - and works in tandem with nature, rather than above it. Eedra is a visiting Kthari alien, with feline and avian features - her goddess statue is a must-see centerpiece.
And Feliney Mischief realized that having small creatures to hunt in addition to the occasional fun of crashing an Arachnos meeting could be done in one place... Right here. (Her original home was in Room 2.) |
|
Room 18, Apartment Suite, Water and City Structure maintenance
Though this area is definitely part of the base, it also has had to accommodate the Paragon Water System as well, since parts of that simply could not be moved or removed to build the base.
Currently a variety of younger and less experienced members of the group reside here, and attend the school classes in the Hub in their down time. Selena Smog is from what's now known as Crey's Folly; Time Flier (and sometimes his counterpart Second Hand, though she is too young to be officially allowed to become a hero) have, you guessed it, temporal powers and can fix virtually any device; Peachy Punchy is of all things a renegade Paragon Protector, rescued from their fate by Keenan and sent to SACCADE; and Laura Baker originally of Baker's Dozen, now serving as the team's 'youth liason' and trainer. |
|
Room 19 A
Do not enter.
No really this place is filled with weird alien plants, half of which are also Ihrinnah, and dangerous sicknesses brought from Virus's Host Body. The biohazards in this area are tolerated but watched very carefully by their neighbor.
There are in fact dead people moving around in that crypt. It's not pleasant. |
|
Room 19 B
This nice little apartment building has access to the surface via a portal, and yes that car is what Dr. Beck uses to get to work at Portal Corp. Well, he would if the freaking Demons and Circle of Thorns Mages would stop getting in the way. He is also known as the Angry Portal Doctor, using nanobots to defeat those annoyances in their parking lot.
He hosts OSHA VIOLATION - who is not in fact in violation, but certainly tries, though whether this is actually a second person or an artificial being, brought on by the closeness of his nanobots with the weird powers and magic of his neighbors... who even knows. |
