Name: Kincaid Masterson

Gender: Male, bi

Age/DOB: ~16, aged, RY8 (late)

Origin: born on Rookery to Repurposed-dimension parents

Family: mother Kinsey, father Zack; aunt Marlene, grandmother Beth, grandfather Marcus; various extended splice relatives

Other: among the earliest born in the North Aperture facility

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 160* though Icarus treated, he's still quite tall and very strongly muscled, he doesn't necessarily look as burly as his father

Hair: dark red-brown, tight afro curls, and kept short but not completely cropped; he has black eyebrows

Eyes: brightly red, not even brown, just outright red, pupils are often hardly even big enough to notice (or, well, they're there but you are too distracted to see them), not as big as mom's, tends to be narrowed

Appearance: dark brown skin with a dusting of freckles and moles, no scars; he's more 'conventional' looking than his father, but still with full lips, broad nose, and high cheekbones. He does wear 'armor', leather gear and shaped-metal pieces that were inspired by chess pieces rather than that Bunkers and Badasses game the nerds play (... he still plays it though). He has a rich, quiet, and deep voice, and unlike his dad he doesn't mind using the big words to start a conversation

Icarus Processing: Yes, at age 3; his father was treated, but mother wasn't, and in order to keep up with the weirdness of the Rookery it was decided he would benefit from this. He is around 3x stronger than normal, and while he wears armor he doesn't really need it - he chooses to let enemies think he does, though, because he can take so much damage and just soak it Vortally, using this delta-activity later on. His speed has been affected, as he's around 3x faster than normal but only in bursts. He can however run at a slower pace for hours on end without tiring, and lift or throw heavy items as easily as light ones. He is still apt to get sick from bad water or poisons, radiation, or toxins, however he recovers much more quickly due to Vortal power.

Genetic Abilities: Kincaid is able to absorb kinetic energy, such as from punches, falling, projectile fire, and the like, and retain that energy in the form of Vortal power. With it, he can then channel his own biology as well as Vortessence, limited to what he can touch or has had exposure to recently. So he can take a quick tumble down stairs, and change his flesh into a wood-like substance, or spar with a Vortally powered friend (like, maybe Wilson for instance) and be able to emulate Vortal aura energies in order to briefly be able to teleport or turn invisible. The Vortal side of this lasts only briefly, not much more than 5 minutes with exertion. But the physical traits can be left on for hours on end, and only slowly wear off if he doesn't purposefully get rid of them. Like some other shifters, his cells can be identifyably both 'his' and 'that substance', and are very much alive. Watching him change Vortal auras is pretty impressive to anyone that has seen him doing it, and even the Vortigaunts believe he has more to him than just these brief moments of 'truth'. He can only store energy for a reasonably short time before it either fades away or he uses it. When his father powers him up, however, he can hang on to a shape much longer, and even those Vortal abilities last up to half an hour if they've prepared. He does have to have close contact with a substance, he's been given a kind of scrap book of 'stuff' for this purpose with wood chips, thinly sliced plastics and metals, small rocks, plant matter, glass, and the like. Vortally his empathic power is pretty strong, but reception only, at around 50 meters, and he can easily be swayed by stronger empathic controllers. Telepathically he can reach other Vortal minds up to 250 meters away, but is easily able to be pinged by stronger telepaths at much greater distances, as his aura seems to attract others. His aura sight is extremely discerning, he can easily tell what powers he's going to be working with, who has used them recently, who shaped that piece of metal over there, and which Vorts are having a discussion in the dorm up the hall.
Skills or Profession: As he has resided effectively on-site at North Aperture all his life, he's been expected to detect unsafe locations and report them to those who do repairs, but mainly he lurks outside to maintain a perimeter against any Combine threats. He has exceptional navigation skill, thanks to his aura sight, and can predict enemy or prey movement using it. Regularly going out means he has a keen eye for things out of place, traps, hidden soldiers or dangers among the ruins, as well as the weather (which is more of a personal quirk, he just likes seeing a variety of conditions). He has downloaded typical educational skills in maths, basic sciences, and communication, but he's pursued a bit more biochemistry and genetics, and he's apt at aiding more experienced scientists in experimental settings. Outside, he's very good with tactics, and in combat of course he can absolutely ruin a Combine's day - taking hits and converting them into bigger ones with a simple touch of his own armor.
Personality: clever and calm for the most part, Kincaid likes exploring and watching phenomena from the back of his dragon. He's seen storms and even hurricanes from above, flown through the aurora, and taken one or two trips overland to both the Rookery itself to watch the desert sunset, and to the Aerie over Rapture to see the endless ocean. On the whole he is still young and knows he has a place in the world, just not sure quite what it is yet.
Events or History: Repairing the North Aperture spheres meant some folks hanging out with each other more than they ever had been... And with such disparate parents (hey dad can you please ease off the terror radius? thanks) Kincaid was always a little on the outside of things even when more refugees were being sent there. But he is still regularly seen in the game room playing B&B with his friends (he has a Siren) and can pretty effectively blend in with the regular folks living there. He resides with his folks and family in Shaft 7/Sphere 8.

Dragon

Name: Aikedeneb Filidechiropterex "blade tail"
Gender: Male
Size/Shoulder/Length: Huge, 23' s / 125' l / 160' ws || human 6'6" tall, 12' ws
Colors: graphite body, brown-gold fur, golden with brown darks fins; golden horns, claws, nubs; wings brightly yellow-gold; tail weapons dark brass, eyes violet-blue
Features: mutt* siblings may have variations, huge, hide body wit hfurry belly/under tail, four legs with 3 claws/wing nub fore, 3+dewclaw hind; large ears, muzzle horns, jaw fin, neck fin; feather wings; split tail with 'hatchet' and furry spade ends
Powers: Winged Flight, for a huge dragon like this to fly, he needs such big wings, and they work well indeed. (they are actually a bit broader and are still joined to his body at the hip as well as shoulder joints) mostly for soaring, but also for high-altitude climbs, and absolutely menacing dives. All of which Kincaid rides him, they think it's thrilling to see how much power he can build up if they pull 4-g turns. Obviously a dragon this size can lift or carry virtually any amount of conventional weight, though he's not fond of having to drag things, he will certainly pick up a full train car and deposit it gently on the Grounds after bringing it from North Aperture. That kind of 500-1000 mile trip is easy for him, he never seems to tire of flying.
Teleportation, when he does tire of flying, he can teleport with such ease it's like that's all he ever does? It was said he teleported out of his shell at hatching, leaving a perfectly sound shell behind. That is actually a lie, he did slash his way out of it with his tail (hence his name...) but it makes for a good story. He does have to have enough room to move around when he does this, so he generally teleports in the air rather than on the ground. He can however bring anything that's in a sphere of half-stretched wings (around 100 feet across) if needed, though bringing more than what he's carrying or holding tends to wear him out a bit. His range on teleportation is around 200 miles, and couple this with the tactic of reaching sub-orbital height before plummeting down, those day trips to very distant locales are actually quite short.
Communication, verbal, telepathic, empathic; while Aikedeneb does speak clearly and has a decent grasp on English and Vortigese, the fact that he's just a huge dragon requiring a lot of space means he has to temper his speaking lest he literally blow people over with it. He prefers to telepathically communicate with sentients, and can do so at a range of about 10 miles, and even at sitting-on-him range, his mind is not overpowering. To others, his mind feels very faintly grained, like fine sandpaper, which is part of his powerset expressing itself. He has a strong empathic ability, and usually can tell if a group is either elated or sad, tired, and the like, so when they go on patrol he'll home in on any 'mood' that he finds in the wilderness, because it's usually a group of weary refugees needing rescue. His empathic power triggers around 2 miles away and grows stronger with proximity.
Shapeshift humanish with wings+tail features left on; like his parent Veretus he is a shapeshifter, who can change from his massive draconic shape into a nearly human one with remarkable ease. Any Vortal seers in the area will briefly be blinded by this transformation, and energy sensing equipment is often fried if he does it too close (so again he will do this outside, somewhere more isolated than right in front of anyone or among sensitive equipment). He maintains his coloration and overall visual quirkiness, he has slightly furry graphite and brown skin and a lot of people liken him to a Doberman in that manner; his wings remain although in a proportionately smaller format, and his tails as well come to just about the floor. So basically he's a small upright version of himself, and he likes it that way. He has a fan club among people in many locations.
Shadow-slink, particulate manipulation, though he finds time to practice this ability he's still working on different uses for it. He can take particulate matter in the air (only) and condense or move it into patterns - what might look like an ululation of birds for instance as they flock around, might actually be just a swarm of grit. He can use this to blast enemy optics, ruin weapons and engines, and the like, and he's probably going to concentrate on that aspect since it's actually pretty fun to see a big Combine gunship fall out of the air after 'hitting a wall of dust'. Though he can technically speaking move through shadows completely unseen, he prefers to be visible.
Parentage: Ganeen and Veretus, with several siblings among the Rookery and Protectorate including Liathion and Ishmeral
Origin: Healing Den / Nexus mutt breeding by Lethe
Other Info: No one would mistake this dragon for a human when he's shifted, but living on a world where people throw powers around, there are dragons, and newcomers have their own weird mutations, no one even notices.
