Aperture/Mesa Clones version 3 - Males (again)!
Though there was a several-year period between the creation of the first set of cloned girls and the boys, GLaDOS's insistence that things go in a 'timely' manner meant that the latter sets of genetically engineered humans came out rather quickly in sequence. Because she had as many volunteers as she did, a number of new kinds of Vortal or technological advancement - or indeed, magic - were put into the mix. The second group of boys would never be known as 'second fiddle' - just as the subsequent last group of girls were just as powerful and important to the plans for the future of their world were as the first bunch. But within each of the clusters of clone pods, their personalities and abilities clearly drove a dynamic system of interaction. Onyx was by and large the most charming and persuasive member of this group. His donor mother, Cybil Qeats, was proud of both her clone-born sons, and as Carnelian in the first section of boys was an extremely important focal point of his group, Onyx drove his own with a gleam in his dark eyes. His constant companions Vermilion and Gold complimented the emotion-controlling cybernetically-aided man. Vermilion aided in the form of being a pilot and having immediate knowledge on any given subject, able to deliver goods as well as become the cavalry in times of need. Gold's command of Vortal essences and 'ghosts' were nothing compared to his ability to enhance the level of powers used around him. The 'brothers' Sage and Slate form two aspects of the information-gathering and technological defenses of this team. While shy, seeminginly-unsure Sage surprises people when he manages to sprint across a minefield with a rocket launcher taking out Combine helicopters, he can also take apart and repurpose almost any weapon available to him, plus siphon information directly out of the 'wetware' (the brains) of any given creature around him. Slate is very much Barney Calhoun's son: quite handsome and darkly charming, but with a serious streak and able to get into Combine locations easily with a combination of visual and electronic deception skills. Burgundy on the other hand, though he's more known as the 'homebody' of this bunch, is such because his ability to interface with and influence Artificial Intelligences as well as literally becoming light, aid more on the defensive and productive side than the offensive and farther reaching ones. He can reach GLaDOS wherever they are, and while he doesn't necessarily enjoy chatting with her so intimately (who would really want her in their brain?) she seems to enjoy the contact. In order to locate new places to set down roots and start cleaning up, Midnight is on the team of explorers. His ability to touch and sort through the Vortal echoes of an area with psychometric power is extremely helpful, but he is also known to draw information out of people who may be hesitant to talk to rebels. Cerulean and Aquamarine usually accompany him on these exploration jaunts, for very different reasons. Cerulean, while seemingly adorable and soft, is able to do amazing physical stunts while fighting - but also can 'shadow-walk' through areas without being detected, and has his own built-in defenses against anything with DNA. Serious and slightly gullible Aquamarine on the other hand is an actual magic-user, who keeps up protective and defensive spells, and in the right areas can put whole buildings off the Combine's radar. Because there are many scattered refugees that require medical attention, any time any of the exploration teams come across a hospital or even a veterinary facility, that area is placed on the high-priority defensive list and the medical experts brought in. In this team, that comes in the form of Lapis and Pine primarily. Lapis deals with poisons and blood very well, though he also has the ability to tap his ancestry - literally, he can home in on Baeris Kshau, therefore the Kshau and Sanger lines across the multiverse respond to his calls. They can add a tremendous amount of knowledge where he might not have it. His 'nephew' Pine can easily withstand a diseased or infested area, and manages to come away with healthy patients and a charming smile to boot. They aren't alone, though, because Emerald is able to work with not only the native Earth wildlife, but animal (usually non-sentient) life from anywhere. The last trio, Citron, Plum, and Ivory, are kind of... odd. Each of them for different reasons. They aren't really a 'mini-team' so much as a constant reminder that this world is really, really weird. Citron considers himself the most 'useful' of them in that he is able to catalog and tuck away - and subsequently retrieve - any item that they encounter. Any. Item. That does in fact mean, that the yacht they came across with the intact interior, and the strip mall's set of kiosk stores. He provides 'something for everyone' and usually does so with a grin. Ivory... is sort of the opposite of the gentle-and-confused looking young man he seems to be. Because he is also adept at magic like his siblings Aquamarine and Maize, he's valued. His specialty, however, is summoning demons. They're great for last lines of defense, but not so great if they get into the food stores. Plum... Seems to be a young Keenan Lane in training. His abilities somehow manage to mirror the elder Convocation entity, with control over time, body-hopping, and the ability to do it all very artistically. What exactly that'll be good for, only time will tell. ** Doll Maker: Azalea's Fairytale Prince |
